This sort of stuff can be disheartening to fans hoping for a great movie in 2016. Director changes and many people over involved in the direction of a product does not always result in quality.

Many films over the years have had changes in directors. It's better that the director is removed before the beginning of shooting rather than the middle as so often happens. I was concerned from the first announcement that Orci was directing and this actually has helped me think that Paramount really does care about their Star Trek franchise. Let's hope for a really good director to be announced soon.

- not officially cancelled, but work on them slows or stops.
