I am thinking of doing a full video podcast for show # 150 in a few weeks. I have a few good ideas I think for it. One thought was I was hoping to get short little messages or greetings from any of you that want to send them in. Video greetings that is. Just short little video messages say no more than about 2 minutes tops. They should be in MPEG 2 format or I think I can handle Quicktime or MP4. I want to use these on the show. Right now as I flip through the calendar I see this podcast will probably fall on Thanksgiving weekend and come out on Nov. 25th. So I would like these videos no later than say Friday, Nov. 23rd - sooner if possible.
What do you all think? Post here your thoughts and if you plan on doing this.

About a week to go for these folks. Just a little friendly reminder.
Rico, you let us know what format you needed but not the scale. My authoring file was ginormous (10 GB). So I had to compress it to CD-ROM quality (full resolution) 320 X 240 (now 10 MB). Is that going to be acceptable? I realize you still would need to put them all together and export it for iPod and other small video display devices, but I just wasn't sure what you wanted to start with as far as the scale is concerned.
320 x 240 is fine Jen. I think I'm going to try and setup a spot on my web site server so you can all upload your files directly there. Might be easier than email. Let me work on that and I'll post back here with the info.

mpeg2 is not a problem - but don't people use flv files nowadays instead?
They are pretty popular on youtube and might be smaller than mpeg.
Either way, I'll submit one this weekend.
The type of file I can use is a little broader now. Mpeg 2 is great or Mpeg 4, or .wmv or even .mov. Just try not to compress them hugely before you upload them. Because I will be editing them into the overall show and compressing it all down at once.
Also, the earlier you get these to me the better. By about noon on Friday, 11/23 at the latest - please.

Well I uploaded an .mp4 of my video.. I started to upload an uncompressed .mov but it was almost 1gig and was going to take six hours to upload.. so instead I'm making a compressed .mov and will upload that. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks

Having issues with music clashing with the video's audio. Any ideas? I'm using Windows Movie Maker. I'm thinking that during my dialouge I'll just cut the music, but it kinda ruins it.

Never mind, found out how to get it to do what I want. However, I'm redoing the video recording because I sound like I'm bored or something XD :laugh: so I'm going to redit it and have to rico Tuesday.

We will figure something out to share more in the future - definitely. I already have stuff up on YouTube under the name treksinscifi. In starting to pull things together for this vidcast I definitely see more of them in the future.
One other note - I'm really enjoying the clips some of you have sent in so far. Great, great stuff! Hope to see several more by Friday.

I got yours - loved it. Still hoping for one or two more. Planning on doing some recording tomorrow and doing the editing Friday - Saturday. Give or take. I know I have too many ideas for this one show so you can expect another video cast in the not too distant future.
