The original Galileo shuttle from TOS is up for auction.  Wish I had the cash to buy this baby and restore her properly.  She's just down in Ohio right now.

Holly cow, they actually got this organized! This whole story has been a huge cluster you know what. I know she used to have the nacelles as well, wonder where they are. Man, it's in such poo shape there's not a lot of the original left. I hope whoever buys it can afford to restore it and display it to make back their investment.

I guess the main issue is that these props weren't made to last 40 years, they were lucky to last the tv season!

Not only that, but they weren't really built to handle weather.  This poor baby sat outside for many of those years.

It was stored outside in a junkyard for years.

Its at $20'000 at the moment.

Yeahm this is going to be intersting to watch. Clearly it is a MAJOR part of Trek history. Obviously due to it's condition, refurbing it will me very costly and it would likley end up 50% original/50% new bits. And you need a means of displaying it and charging admission. I believe it was offered to the Smithsonian but they weren't interested. Paul Allen's Seattle Museum might be a good home for it.

The trouble is by the time you get it home you will have to strip the whole thing, patch up the wood work, undefcoat ita nd then re-paint it what on Earth is left of the original. You may as well just make one yourself.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. It's too bad the powers that be back then weren't so forward thinking as to preserve props.

Looks like a group has started up a kickstarter to try and win the auction, raise money to restore the set and promise to give it to a museum.
