Okay guys.. just watched this new comedy and I have to say I have never laughed so hard before at a TV show. This is by far the funniest comedy I have seen in a long time. If you haven't seen it you must catch it next time. Big Bang Theory airs Monday at 8:30 on CBS. Check it out.
Here's a brief description: Two egghead guys - scientifically brilliant but backwards when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex - learn a little bit more about real life from their sexy, newly single neighbor.
I thought it was pretty funny. It's amazing how many "geek" oriented shows are on these days. Truly, the geeks have taken over the Earth.
Something I never thought about -- but heard it in the show. If Supes gets his power from the yellow sun -- how CAN he fly at night ???
This show is hilarious. The line about Lois Lane being hacked into 3 pieces
I still have to watch tonight's episode. Too many good things on Monday night to watch! Oh, Supes is like a big recharging battery. He stores energy basically from the sun that gives him power even when not in direct sunlight. Yes - I'm a geek!
OMG... still my favorite new series... way to funny.
I'm sorry but the first few minutes of the first episode turned me off. I really don't want to watch a show that for it's opening moments is dealing with masturbation and sperm donating. I found it offensive and turned it off and I'll not watch another episode. I really cannot understand how a person would think that was good humor.
Kevin
Well to each his own.... that is what is great about having over 200 channels many many different tv shows... you can pick and choose what you want to watch. I for one love this series, it's smart, funny and very well written.

OMG !!! That's what they said in the show !!! You need to call CBS
Hehe! I'll try and watch the episode tonight.
I missed the first episode, but my wife watched it and thought I'd like it. We watched the 2nd episode last night, and she was right. I loved it. We already watch its lead-in, How I Met Your Mother, so it fits perfectly into our schedule.
Great show. I don't think I've laughed at a Sitcom since Seinfeld went off the air. This show is hilarious. I love the cast.
I'm with you.. I haven't laughed out loud and so much in a long time... I hope it's doing well in the ratings.
Just watched episode two. Really funny. Think I liked it more than the first one. This show is really growing on me.
I almost hyperventilated when he pulled out the light sabre. Have to watch it again.
This show rocks dudes!

Dude...watch online...
http://alpha.cbs.com/primetime/big_bang_theory/
I already tried to. But the media player that CBS uses seems to be blocked/bugged for me. Again, realize, this is a college that only allows 3.6GB in AND out of our computers. They could have blocks on other stuff. Of course, when i watch ABC shows, it works just fine. Gah, they still need to work on stuff like this....
King Linksr
Ok, NOW its working...but it lags up every min or so...kinda annoying.
King linksr
Yea...unless my internet is really defunct, this format downright sucks. It keeps interrupting itself and its really difficult to watch it. Idk...I'll try it later when fewer ppl are online.
King Linksr
Yea, this is the worst way to watch shows. It keeps lagging even though when I watch ABC shows it works well. So, I think CBS needs to work on their stuff.

:r2d2line Slight spoilers ahead :r2d2line
If they can keep the ideas fresh -- this will be a huge hit. Last week when they were assembling the shelf unit or the light saber - my stomach was in pain.
This week - they started the show with the four of them playing WoW. They were sitting in the apartment talking about goblin spittle and the Sword of Azeroth. When Leonard finally gets it, he auctions it off. PRICELESS !!!!
Just curious but how many of you guys (or gals) had conversations like THIS in high school (or college) ?
That is one of my favorite scenes.. but this show has so many great scenes.
Never had a conversation in HS as tempted as much as I was...but college is ripe with it.
:)
TIm
Loved that scene! Great series so far!
I guess I could have put this up on the WoW topic....nahhhhhhh. One question: why are they using skype when they are in the same room ?
I love Sheldon's comic book-themed T-Shirts.
I'd buy this if I could find it, but no luck so far:
I did a search -- "hamburger postulate" t-shirt. Other websites talk about the shirts but nothing specific. Wiki says they are vintage Flash and Superman. Not sure if that means they are no longer available. They have to be somewhere on the web.
Hamburger postulate was the name of the episode. Tomorrow is a Halloween episode. I can only imagine their costumes.
And so it begins... Tonights episode was a REPEAT !!!! :(
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
/cry /cry /cry :'( :'( :jawdrop ??? >:( >:( >:( :'( :'( :old_bash: :old_bash: /cry /cry

Did any see the latest Big Bang.. it was very funny.. but the opening was the best as they discussed Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles and Summer Glau's character.. it was priceless.
Love this series!!!
Yeah, the last two new episodes have been great. Loved the stuff on last week's show with the X10 remote control stuff. This show hits very close to where we all live I think. Funny, funny stuff.
OMG... did anyone else watch last night's Big Bang... that had to be one of the funniest episodes.. I was actually rolling on the floor I was laughing so hard.. when Leonard activated the time machine and everyone moved around like they were in fast motion... I almost died. And then when Leonard threaten to open one of his mint in package Star Trek figures I was laughing so hard.
I enjoy every episode of Big Bang but this one was one of my favorites.
It was one of the best episodes! I agree Kenny, I was laughing so hard!
Very funny!
Are you fan of Sheldon's T-shirts... now there is a website dedicated to them and where you can buy them...
This is pretty cool.. I may have to pick up a few of them :)
http://www.sheldonshirts.com/ (http://www.sheldonshirts.com/)
I was wondering when someone would make these available. So cool.
That's pretty neat!
Season One comes out on DVD today.. gotta pick this one up. I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of extras but as least all 17 fantastic episodes are there.

Geeks Unite!

Physicists Leonard and Sheldon understand everything from the inescapable gravitational pull of a black hole to the intricate structure of the atom. But take those atoms and assemble them into a woman, and their comprehension comes to a grinding halt. And when Penny, a woman with all those atoms in all the right places, moves in across the hall, Leonard and Sheldon's universe begins to expand in ways they never could have imagines.
When series creators Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men) and Bill Prady (Dharma & Greg) combine equal parts science, superheroes and sex and add stars Johnny Galecki (Roseanne) and Jim Parsons (Judging Amy), the result is an explosively funny comedy for the nerd in all of us.
I don't keep track of sitcoms at all, so it's no surprise I hadn't heard of this one before it was announced on DVD. The premise, a bunch of geeks with a hot new neighbor, sounds like a good one. The 17 episode first season is on this 3-disc set:
Disc 1 (2:07:54)
Pilot (22:54)
The Big Bran Hypothosis (21:06)
The Fuzzyboots Corollary (22:02)
The Luminous Fish Effect (20:40)
The Hamburger Postulate (20:11)
The Middle Earth Paradigm (21:01)
Disc 2 (2:03:43)
The Dumpling Paradox (21:12)
The Grasshopper Experiment (20:12)
The Cooper-Hofstadter Polarization (19:30)
The Loobenfeld Decay (20:40)
The Pancake Batter Anomaly (22:02)
The Jerusalem Duality (20:07)
Disc 3 (1:43:32)
The Bat Jar Conjecture (21:40)
The Nerdvana Annihilation (20:06)
The Pork Chop Indeterminacy (21:51)
The Peanut Reaction (19:48)
The Tangerine Factor (20:07)
Video
Though the packaging states this is "matted" widescreen transfer, meaning it's a 4:3 image with black bars on the top and bottom, it's wrong. The episodes are presented in Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1), and they look good, with the exception of some visible noise in the pilot episode. The noise is most obvious on the solid colors of walls, but it's greatly reduced by the second episode; it's common for a pilot to look slightly different from the regular season episodes. Each disc contains a "play all" option, and there's a chapter after the opening of the show.
Audio
The Big Bang Theory features a decent English Stereo Surround audio track. Of course the majority of the audio can be heard from the 3 front speakers, with the center channel getting most of the dialog. Audience laughter, and some music, can be heard from the rear speakers. Oh, I also love the opening theme song by The Barenaked Ladies. There are subtitles in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Thai.
Extras:
Quantum Mechanics of The Big Bang Theory (17:12)
A look behind-the-scenes of The Big Bang Theory featuring interviews with the cast and crew.
Summary
This show must be one of the hardest sitcoms to write due to the insanely geeky language. I can't imagine the type of comments the writers receive, because I'm almost certain any flaw in a mathematical equation or "factual" comment that turns out to be wrong would result in letters and emails sent correcting the information. Yikes!
I thought the show was very funny; I laughed out loud a number of times. It's too bad the bonus material is so sparse, I would have enjoyed listening to a commentary track or two. I doubt I'll catch the show when it airs on TV, but I'll happily watch the second season when it hits DVD next year.
I'll be buying it. Can't wait for season 2!
whoo hooo.. got my season one boxset.. can't wait to go home and watch some episodes.
I really need to go and get this set. I saw osme of the shows from the first season but kept forgetting it was on. What I saw I absolutely loved.
Just a reminder of the GREAT cast and writing of this show.
Didn't always get a chance to watch this show, but its great. :)
Can't wait!

Did anyone catch the premiere of The Big Bang Theory this past Monday... it was hilarious.. this is the only TV show that I laugh out load from beginning to end. I'm so happy it's back.
Yep - watched it - loved it!
It was soooo funny! My goodness, all those great geeky refrences!
OMG - that end scene of the renaissance festival from the last episode !!
What happens at ComiCon STAYS at ComiCon !! ;D
SPOILER ALERT - if you have not seen 12/15 episode - SPOILER ALERT
Funniest moment this season.
I agree.. I was dying last night when I saw that. Love this show.
Awesome episode for an awesome series!
Tammy and I howled when we saw that Christmas show! :roflmao

I'm really enjoying it all. Got busy last night so didn't start season two, but season one was a blast.
Let's see where this goes. Whom do you most identify - Sheldon, Leonard, Howard or Raj ?
I have to answer in the negative - definitely NOT Howard.
I am Leonard 100%
Leonard is geeky, kind, understanding, shy, kind of akward, but still a good sense about him.
I can see you as Leonard, Kenny... you have one foot in coolness and one in geekdom. I have no idea who I am... maybe I am the result of a future Penny and Leonard marriage. She's cool and he's geeky-cool. ;) :D
BTW, I LOVED the last few episodes. And I just got to see the Renaissance Festival ep this past week. Angela mentioned it on our recent Renfest Anomaly Podcast episode . We have both actually seen people dressed as Star Trek and Star Wars characters at T-Ren. Just in case I had any doubt that Renfests are for geeks, this episode quelled those disbeliefs. :D Sheldon and his linen underwear made from Leonard's pillowcases was hi-larious!
yes, it was very funny, I really enjoyed it too!

As long as you don't comment on the way
Penny looks in the dress...I think it's fine. ;)
They just repeated this one Monday. I loved Sheldon's line about his arch-enemy Leslie Winkle "the only she could make a contribution to science is if they resumed sending chimpanzees into space". Enjoy !!
Here's a clip from early in the series - still awesome:

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I most identify with Sheldon. I can be somewhat Superior. I don't always pay attention to how I'm coming off to others. And there are girly geeks who think of me as something of a dumbass. :wacko
Ok I made the admission on Twitter yeterday that I only REALLY started wathcing this show like last week. One thing that hasn't come up is the AWESOME theme song by one of my favourite bands of all time, Barenaked Ladies.
Here's a video of them messing around with the theme at a live show:

I'm glad that the writers are exploring the platonic side of the Leonard and Penny's relationship. But my sister and I were talking about it the other day, and while it is not romantic and nor should it ever be, we adore the chemistry between Penny and Sheldon. Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco have a great comedic rapport, and I think the scenes with those two together really make the show something special.

Yep. He's great! I love every scene he's in.
Do you think the laugh was unscripted when Penny cracks up after Wolowitz says to her, "Suddenly I don't look so bad." It looks genuine and Dave and I thought that maybe they just went with it instead of reshooting. I clapped when he said that. He's bad but the other guy is ten times worse... Roxanne?! LOL! What a jerk!
Don't you mean...Woxanne? :)

Yes it was - my favorite scene was Sheldon trying to grasp sarcasm.
Had to drop this video....
What happened with Leonard and Penny has happened to me. Valuable lesson learned, when a girl tells you to stop talking...STOP TALKING.
Okay, Christine Baranski as Leonard's mom was hi-larious!
I think the best part of the episode was the little squabble between Wolowitz and Raj. ;D

"Big Bang" Could Get Two-Season Renewal
March 3, 2009 by Michael Hickerson || Category: TV
According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS is ready to make "The Big Bang Theory" even bigger. The network is currently close to renewing the hit comedy series for two more seasons.
The move comes in a season when "Theory" has found its own ratings-wise. The ratings have been strong, growing with each week and CBS is poised to reward the show.
There is also some discussion of moving the series to a later time-slot and pairing it with TV's number one comedy, "Two and a Half Men." "Men" would get a three-year renewal under the new agreement. Both shows are produced by Chuck Lorre.
"Bang" got a try-out after "Men" a few weeks ago thanks to a prime-time news conference by President Obama. The comedy held onto much of the lead-in from "Men" and CBS could be ready to deliver a one-two punch in the timeslot with both comedies.
I am so happy that for once a great show is getting a fair chance on the big networks.
Awesome news! Loving this season so far. The last episode had some classic moments. I feel like Sheldon a lot these days.

Oh no, you ARE Sheldon. At the theatre, he spends like 5 minutes looking for just the right seats. Not too close, near the center, half-way up, etc. I'm bringing my paintball gun next time. :roflmao
Oh man, Howard and Leslie?? A couple of wackadoodles...my new pet phrase.
Awesomeness!!!

Great episode. I felt really bad for Penny and kept calling the other girl "Stupid tall hot girl". It was actually an interesting change of pace to see Penny acting awkward and trying to get the guys to pay attention to her.
Another great episode. I think that the only problem that I have with the show is that it's too short. Another thing that I really like is pausing the producer notes at the end of each episode and reading them. They are just as funny as the show. Has anyone else been reading the Chuck Lorie vanity notes? If you haven't you really should.
Edit: You can find them here http://www.chucklorre.com/index.php?p=247 (http://www.chucklorre.com/index.php?p=247)
Yes, another show where I need to watch a few times because of the quick one-liners and they don't give nearly enough time to read the essays at the end.
I HAVE A PLAN !! ;D
Oh and Penny in that dress.
I was pleased.
Fran is going to smack you. :)
She gets to talk about Lee Adama, I get to talk about Penny. :)
Yeah - this was a great episode. Lots of awesome moments and lines. And agree Joe about Penny in that blue dress - yowza's!

Great episode last night again. So many awesome moments in it. This show is tailor made for me and many geeks!
I'm personally getting tired of the shows where they go to a comic shop and the guys proceed to act as if women never enter. It's not cute and as another pod cast commented on Heroes doing it, you would expect comic fans to know better.
Oh - I love this TV show too. Being a girl, when I drop into comic shops I do get kind of stared at sometimes. Kind of weird.
I think this show is great. Yes, some of the geek clichés are old but they are still funny. I am glad it's back for more seasons.
Drake Equation...
N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x Lwhere:
N is the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible;
and
R* is the average rate of star formation in our galaxy
fp is the fraction of those stars that have planets
ne is the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets
fl is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point
fi is the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life
fc is the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space
L is the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.
Wolowitz coefficient is just a theory at this point and a proof is considered to be highly doubtful.
Loved that part!
Am I nuts (I only flipped BBT on PIP for a sec suring the hockey game last night) but was Anders (Michael Trucco) guesting last night?

The Big Bang Theory - It Was Just Fine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3mpdJ0ZtJk#ws)
I don't know why but with the 70th anniversary of Wizard of Oz tomorrow, I'm thinking Sheldon as the Tin man, Raj as the scarecrow and Wolowitz as the cowardly lion in a remake. I don't know where to put Leonard. Winkle as the bad witch, Penny as the good witch. :D
Penny should be Dorothy.
Yeah, I thought it would be wierd for the cowardly lion to be hitting on dorothy. The good witch could at least zap him. Maybe wolowitz should be the dog.
How about this:
Penny - Dorothy
Sheldon - Tin Man (no heart)
Leonard - Lion (since he was afraid to ask Penny out)
Howard - Scarecrow (since he seems to mess up a lot at work)
No wait
Penny - Doroty
Howard - Tin Man (no heart)
Raj - Cowardly Lion (doesn't talk to Doroty)
Leonard - Scarecrow (Doroty missed him the most)
Sheldon - The Wizard (massive ego)
Winkle - Wicked Witch (obviously)
Sheldon's mother - Good witch
Photoshop anyone?
I'd rather have Sheldon's sister as the good witch :)
You're right. Howard hits on Sheldons mother **shiver**

OH my goodness! One of the best episodes! WHHHEATONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know where I could find BBT online(Not as download only)? I can't find the channel it's on here and from what my friends have told me, it's on too late where I am for my liking anyways. Also, I'm in Canada, so no, I can't watch it on CBS *grumbles*. Thanks!
I have another hour and a half! :)
I'm in Canada and I watch it on CBS. otherwise, seems like CTV is the place to go.

Nude Katee Sackhoff to guest on Big Bang Theory??
Looks like CBS' The Big Bang Theory is becoming a must-stop destination for former sci-fi stars: First, Star Trek: TNG's Wil Wheaton and now Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff.
The erstwhile Starbuck will appear in an episode of the geek-tastic sitcom on the Monday before Thanksgiving, CBS announced, confirming details first reported by the Chicago Tribune's Mo Ryan. (Spoilers ahead!):
Sackhoff, who is a series regular on the new season of 24, will play herself in a cameo in the episode. ...
As "Battlestar" and "Big Bang" fans know, this isn't the first connection between the two shows (aside from the general adoration that the show's characters have for all things sci-fi). Michael Trucco ("Battlestar's" Sam Anders) played a love interest for Penny (Kaley Cuoco) last season.
Sackhoff will reportedly play Wolowitz's fantasy woman, and Ryan reports "there may be nudity."
Frak me!

Ahh - now I see why the show was moved to 9:30
"There may be nudity."
It'll probably be Wolowitz. :)
DEFINITELY don't want to see that at 8pm...or 9:30pm or 4am.... :D
I also have to think they have approached the Shat for a guest appearance sometime in the future.

I hope Shatner would be playing himself. Maybe the gang could go to a Trek convention with the intention of getting his autograph and wind up having a wacky adventure. Mabey get trapped in an elevator....Hopefully no nudity involved there though. ;D
Hmmmm...what would make a good script with Shatner?
How about Penny's first convention and Shatner hits on her in front of Leonard? Wolowitz and Sheldon are at the comic display "got it, got it, got it...". Raj meets a girl who has to get drunk to talk to guys.

NO WAY - has to be a dream sequence
Here's a great quote from Katee from the article. She likes Trek too! :wub
Speaking of Star Trek, inquiring minds want to know: Is Sackhoff a member of Team Kirk or Team Picard? "I am definitely a William Shatner girl. Hands down."
Very funny clip from 11/16 show...
Katee arrives 11/23
I say its a dream sequence but WAY better then Bobby Ewing showing up in your shower.
I may pass out after this episode! :)
Fun episode, but I wanted more Katee of course. Would have been nice to see one more scene with her - maybe at the end of the episode.
It was pretty much what I expected. Sheldons interview was hilarious
On the PVR, watching it tonight. I lost the battle between Big Bang and the series finale of Jon and Kate Plus Eight. Bleh.
oh you mean, Jon and Kate plus Hate? So sad.
I laughed so hard at the NPR interview. That was so classic!
Next Big Bang Theory...

I think,...
IN = Isaac Newton
NB = Neils Bohr
ES = Einstein

I don't watch the show, but have followed the litany of shame through the news.
I think they're referring to the NPR Science Friday interview Sheldon was supposed to be giving on the last Big Bang show. It didn't go quite as well as planned.
John and Kate plus Eight- sad on so many different levels.

Great episode tonight! Loved the part with Penny guessing who Stan Lee is.
I liked Sheldon in front of the judge - knew it would end badly. Late night - Jim Parsons interviewed on local PBS station with clips from tonights episode. EX-CEL-SIOR!! -- except for you Raj :)
That was a great episode. VERY FUNNY!

Now that was cool
While I understand Stan Lee reacting the way he did to Sheldon and Penny, I can't picture the man being mean, he just seems like such a happy guy whenever you see/hear him.
Yeah, the interview with Jim Parsons. He talked about how Stan Lee is such a nice guy in person/ That being said, if someone just showed up at my door uninvited - it could put me a bad mood. Like telemarketers.
If Penny showed up at my door, I don't think I'd be upset :)
Yeah, I've always heard nice things about Stan Lee. Very nice to the fans. But showing up at someone's door is a bit far. Obviously, they played it for some laughs. Really liked this last episode a lot.
P.S. Joe, I agree about Penny. ;)
Oh also, I LOVED the script Sheldon wrote for Penny! it was hilarious!
It's, like, totally a privilege to know you. Totally. :D
(a tear rolls down your cheek)
SHELDON: I call your attention to the events of November 16th. Do you remember that day?
PENNY: Darn tootin', I do. If the court will excuse my home-spun corn-fed Nebraskan turn-of-phrase.
SHELDON: Excellent, go on.
PENNY: The reason that day is like, so totally fixed in my memory is that I had the privelege to be witnessed to one of the most heroic acts ever seen in like ever.
SHELDON: And who performed that heroic act?
PENNY: Why, you did, sir. You. Dr. Sheldon Cooper. And may I add, it is a privilege to know you.
SHELDON: No need for compliments, this court is only interested in the facts.
PENNY: But it is a fact it is a privilege to know you. Totally. [stops reading script] Uh, a tear drop rolls down my cheek?
SHELDON: Only a suggestion, a catch in your throat would work just as well.
What I love about the episode is the reference to Nov 16th and Pennys accident in the bathroom. Good way to get loyal fans but just a reference every so often - not like the extreme case like Lost/FlashForward. Oh my gosh, this show is just so funny. I have to think they have approached Shatner to do a guest spot. That's all we need - another huge ego. Did I read it here that wHil wHeaton :) is doing another show?

Love the titles.
Big bang blooper reel - funnier than what gets aired. They put a laugh track on a blooper reel?
They film with an audience I think so maybe it's just the laughs from when the shows were filmed.
"Big Bang Theory is filmed in front of a live studio audience." :)
OMG.. that was the funniest thing ever.. and like others have said.. the laughing is all real.. I mean how could you not laugh..think I might see if I can go to a taping.
Crap.. only two more tapings and they are all booked.. have to remember for next season.
Seeing "The Wheaton Recurrence" taped would have been awesome. Then again, hanging with Wil Wheaton isn't a big deal for Kenny :)
I was reading some other forums. There is a live audience but sometimes I guess they can interrupt the action and in post production a laugh track can be substituted. OMGosh I would love to attend a BBT taping. They would likely ask me to leave because I could not stop laughing. :)

Repeat show tonight, but next week we get this!
"The Big Bang Theory" releases a still from the upcoming April 12 episode which unmistakably will tickle out laughter as well as curiosity. The four nerds are in the comic book store, dressed in superheroes costume and crossing the gender.
Wolowitz is Batgirl, Sheldon is Wonder Woman, Leonard is Supergirl while Raj, who is the only one excited about the costume, is Catwoman. "I will say this. This is not the worst thing that happens to someone in this episode," executive producer Bill Prady told Entertainment Weekly.
In the episode, a fight between Leonard and Penny threatens their relationship. EW's Ausiello previously questioned Prady whether the couple will head to splitsville. The producer reminded that fans "shouldn't look at what happens in a single episode as definitive. The relationships between these characters - especially romantic relationships - are messy."
Also in the episode, Wil Wheaton will come back as himself and battles Sheldon in bowling.
Looks like they lost a bowling bet. Raj doesn't seem to mind.

It's been confirmed that George Takei and Katee Sackhoff will be guesting on the same episode of TBBT this season (episode 4 airing on Oct. 14th). More info below:
Bill Prady has revealed to AOL that Takei will appear alongside Katee Sackhoff, where she will be reprising her role as Wolowitz's conscience. Takei and Sackhoff will take opposite points of view as Wolowitz contemplates getting back together with his ex-girlfriend Bernadette (Melissa Rauch). Prady didn't reveal the location, but did say that it won't be in a bathtub.

Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco Breaks a Leg
The Big Bang Theory's resident hottie went thud over the weekend.
Kaley Cuoco suffered a broken leg in a horseback riding accident and is being written out of the episode that is scheduled to tape tomorrow night, EW.com confirmed Monday.
"She's scheduled to make a full recovery," a rep for the actress said, adding that Cuoco remains hospitalized for now in Los Angeles.
Coincidentally, a shooting hiatus was already planned for the following week, giving the 24-year-old equestrienne extra time to heal.
Emmy winner Jim Parsons and his supporting carbon-based lifeforms will just have to hold down The Big Bang Theory's molecular structure in the meantime.

Does anyone watch "Survivor" anymore? I'm more concerned about it going against another great comedy I like, "Community" on NBC.
Yep, my wife got me hooked on it and we both look forward to every season twice a year every year. It's a great show to make fun of the people and still enjoy the tension that builds up as you get to know the players and actually care who wins. It's something we enjoy together and it's especially important since she isn't a sci fi lover like myself. This season features old folks vs. young folks! Should be fun.

The Big Bang Theory - Season 3 Recap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCxJGdRRODI#ws)
Good start to the season last night. They seem to be keeping the pairing of Sheldon and Penny going. Fun to see Sheldon's "non-girlfriend" again too.
I enjoyed the Big Bang Theory Last night. I thought it was a fun episode, I like how Howard got out of his predicament in the end. Working in a technical job, sometimes you look for complex answers to problems, when it takes a non technical person to show you a very simple answer. I got a good chuckle when the Admitting nurse solved Howard's problem.
I might get in trouble for saying this, but at times I find they take Sheldon's character to far. To me, he is a brilliant person, who is sort of over run by his quirks and oddities, making his an socially awkward person. For me, at times I see a bit of myself in him, and I find then I can relate to him, and it makes his character humorous to me. But there seems to be a fine line with the character between quirky and relatable, and I guess for lack of a better word, a caricature of Sheldon. The whole story about how he plans on conceiving a child with his non girl friend and his attitude towards sex just doesn't really ring true to me. It makes Sheldon feel weird and non relatable, and just too out there for me to really believe. The difference to me between quirky and unbelievable is subtle, I had the unbelievable feeling with an episode last season where Penny took Sheldon to Disney Land. The way they presented his character as a bit of a baby unable to really care for himself at the park seemed forced and maybe even out of character. I suspect that the Sheldon character is very hard to write for, and probably a reason why Jim Parson won an Emmy as he usually plays the character pretty close to that line and really makes the show.
My two cents, really looking forward to this year, going to be fun, great show.
Loved last nights episode.. favorite part was of course when Sheldon turned to Amy in the car and said.. "Muggles"
This must be one of the most consistantly funny shows. I don't think I could watch an episode and name you the series it was from. Quite an achievement!
My favourite bit was the hospital "cure". I'll leave it spoiler free :)
Does anyone know where I can watch the Season 4 1st episode online? I missed it. :(
Unless they have changed, CBS does not offer online episodes :banned:
You may have to wait until they repeat the episode.

:)Thanks Rico!
I loved the premiere! Lots of sexual inuendo in this episode though, careful watching with the kids around! I had to turn it off and watch later.
I'm probably alone in this but I find Sheldon's girlfriend way more attractive than Penny. Something about nerdy girls just does it for me. I was in heaven when Sara Gilbert was a regular on this show, she's my fave ;)
yeah, Amy and I turned it off with Catherine in the room, it was a bit over the edge like that. It always has a certain element of that in it, but most of the time it's not as much.
Which part are you guys talking about? The dinner conversation?
well, the whole masturbating thing ... the creating a baby part was actually funny- then the whole sleeping with multiple partners thing... I could go on. Just not that we don't discuss that type of thing as a family, it's made into a joke, when it's not as funny in real life. I guess it does lead to discussions. ;)
Ah right, we were on the floor laughing about the robot arm, but I can see how it'd be a bit uncomfortable with the kids around :)
oh I know, absolutely hilarious! but... hmmmm.

I've never really noticed that until I was watching it with my six year old in the room! Her ears kept perking up every time the word sex or penis was mentioned until I decided enough was enough.
I thought when it moved back to pre-9pm it was to backoff on the more edgy topics. Guess there is no more family hour these days.
I think the show always has had that slight edge. I mean the very first episode of the series had the guys making a sperm donation and jokes about it in the first minutes of the series. This isn't a show for real little ones, but anyone from about 12 and up easily should be fine with it. I love the show, just like I enjoy many things that are not meant for little kids. It's an age old discussion but that's what parents and the off switch are for.
agreed.
Just to be clear, my six year old wasnt watching she was just in the room. She does not watch programming meant for adults (yet)

Ahh, I remember those early years with my boys. I had to watch a lot of TV/movies later at night and off in other rooms when they were young.
Yes, if the TV is on, ours will watch it almost regardless of the content. They do have a boredom threshold that gets hit eventually but it seems to take a surprisingly long time with some content.
I guess it depends on the parents and maturity of the kid. I don't understand why sex and masturbation is such a taboo.. I mean everyone does it, it's better that the kids discuss it with their parents about it then friends.

I totally agree with ya there. As long as the family isn't sitting around watching soft/hard core, I don't see an issue in my house. I think it's funny that many families will censor talk of sex hundreds of times faster than graphic violence. Granted, I'm not the most religious person on the board, but I would think that it should be the reverse. Murder is in the top ten of stuff not to do, but seems to be more palatable to western senses.
I find that most of the stuff goes over my kids heads or that occasionally they have already picked up on it from the school playground. Either way, I try not to draw attention to some of the more questionable scenes and they never seem overly curious.
idk, if you watch shows like Grey's Anatomy or the one after it, it's one sex scene after another. I mean, cmon...
But yeah, we do censor sexuality a lot quicker than violence. It is amusing to myself as well.

Are we watching the same show? There is far more gore in Grey's than sex IMHO. And let's not forget about the violence that show has. People exploding into pink mist, bullets in the head, executions, and the list goes on.
Now to bring this back around to Big Bang Theory.. really enjoyed this weeks episode.. loved robot Sheldon. Lots of funny stuff.

Yep - fun episode. Cool for us computer geeks to see The Woz in the episode too.
I really, really enjoyed this last episode. I laughed so hard at Shelbot.
Another fun episode this past week with more Shamy! But, next week Katee and George! (Make sure to check out the link to the preview clip too.) Oh, my!

Don't forget. George & Katee episode is on tonight! First appearance for George, but of course Katee was on the show about a year ago in this classic scene. :wub
Fun episode last night. Was great to see a little bit less Sheldon and Shamy too and give the others a chance to shine a little. George and Katee looked like they were having a great time.
That was an epic show. My goodness, the desk fight was hilarious.

Really great Big Bang episode yesterday. Got guest star Eliza Dushku, Penny was back, and it had some great Trek references. Awesome show!
I was doing some programming while watching it so maybe I missed a bit but I didn't find this one to be the best episode. I think I'll have to give it another once over!
Any episode with a Gorn and Penny saying "Kirk cheated" is tops in my book! Toss in Eliza playing an FBI agent and it's geek heaven! At least for me.
Oh I agree, it should have been a great one. I really do need to watch it again. Fran's going to be off on a girl's weekend so I think I'll be able to!
Here's a couple parts of what made this recent episode so awesome!

Like to see Penny and Sheldon together again, they have great chemistry and really help make the show at times :-)
That ending was one of the best - good for you Sheldon.

Laughed so hard at tonights episode... loved seeing Wil and really liked the girls night out scenes. And this episode had a lot of great one liners from Sheldon.

Agreed. The last few weeks have been a blast on the show. I do have to admit that I'm kind of paranoid like Sheldon about getting to movies early so I could identify with that. Loved Wil's short scenes and his Jar Jar impression. :)
we laughed many, many times. That was show was spot on!
Cool Episode, had to agree with Sheldon as well about getting to the movie Theatre early, I am sort of that way myself :)
yeah I too agree with Sheldon.. gotta get there early to secure your spot.
'Bang Theory' Ups Mayim Bialik to Regular
By MICHAEL AUSIELLO, TV Columnist | Monday November 15, 2010 @ 6:33pm PST
EXCLUSIVE: The Big Bang Theory is handing out promotions left and right. The CBS comedy — which just upped costar Melissa Rauch to a full-fledged series regular — has rewarded Mayim Bialik with a similar bump. The former Blossom star made her debut as Sheldon's quasi-girlfriend in last season's finale and returned this fall on a recurring basis. Like Rauch, Bialik's new deal is for this season only and — unlike the show's central quintet — doesn't call for her to appear in all episodes produced.
Good for them. I enjoy both those characters and it balances the guy/girl ratio out a bit more than just having Penny deal with the geeks.

CBS Posts Full Episodes of The Big Bang Theory Online for the First Time
November 17, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Has the sun exploded? It must have, because The Big Bang Theory has finally, after seasons upon seasons of withholding its comedic goodness from the Web, posted its two most recent episodes... online.
There are a lot of whispers surrounding The Big Bang Theory's absence online thus far, but most surround the notion that the TV show's producer, Chuck Lorre, stood between his programming and the Internet. Lorre posted his feelings on the subject back in 2008, but that was in the midst of the WGA strike, which aimed to protect union writers in part by granting them compensation for online content. Though the strike's outcome did promise writers with a little compensation for new media distribution, Lorre's hesitation to post his projects online seemed to linger.
The first sign of hope came when Lorre's other hit CBS comedy, Two and a Half Men, began posting episodes online earlier this season, and his latest series, Mike & Molly, posts free full episodes every so often, though not consistently. But would the network ever feel comfortable distributing its prized possession and one of its highest rated comedies online... for free?
Today, the answer is "yes." No word on whether or not the trend will continue, but I'm sure fans everywhere hope this media explosion morphs into a brand new universe for CBS: one in which episodes are made available on a weekly basis and all fears of missing out when it airs Thursday nights are forgotten.

MUST SEE
Looks like a fun episode tonight. I found this interesting from a recent Entertainment Weekly article...
....Cut to 2010, when another salary renegotiation is winding its way through the halls of Warner Bros. TV. It just so happens to involve a comedy that's pretty much replaced Friends in terms of popularity, critical praise, and its ability to generate millions in revenue: The Big Bang Theory. As is customary for any successful show approaching its fifth and sixth years (Bang is currently in its fourth season), the core ensemble of five have jockeyed for more money. Interestingly, three of those castmembers — Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki — initially decided to follow in the footsteps of the Friends actors by negotiating as one but, as first reported by Deadline, the Emmy-winning Parsons made the decision to break away and negotiate on his own. Lucky for Cuoco and Galecki, his strategy didn't work, and now all three are earning roughly $200,000 per episode this season — up from $60k last year — and will see $50,000 bumps each year over the next three years, as well as a piece of the comedy's rich syndication profits.
That left Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar, who negotiated separately. Though it can be argued that Parsons, Cuoco and Galecki are lead material, both Helberg and Nayyar are certainly integral to the show's success. Indeed, some of the comedy's best moments are when Parsons, Galecki, Helberg and Nuyyar are together. But clearly, the studio wasn't looking to follow a favored nations strategy because Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz, just closed a deal to earn north of $100,000 per episode, EW has confirmed. That's up from around $40,000, but nowhere near what Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco are making.
Though Nayyar (Raj) has yet to sign a new pact of his own, it doesn't appear that he was offered the same amount as Helberg or else he would have signed by now. Reportedly, Nayyar is expected to close a deal shortly; if not, the negotiations could be postponed to season's end and he'll have to continue earning around $25k per episode under his current, six-year contract. But it would be wrong to assume this was a contentious negotiation, said one interested party. "Granted, no one was skipping to the mailbox and cashing a check — there was some teeth pulling — but in the end, everybody is going to make a ton of money," the source said.
Read it all here: http://insidetv.ew.com/2010/11/23/the-big-bang-theory-salary-renegotiations/ (http://insidetv.ew.com/2010/11/23/the-big-bang-theory-salary-renegotiations/)

Well, you have to look at it like the business it is. The network and the production company is making serious money from it and have been for a while. If the ratings are high, the network can charge more money for ad space. Should only the network and the production company be the only ones to reap the rewards of the success?
Did anyone see Simon Helberg in studio 60 on the sunset strip he was very good and could do a wide range of part just in that show,
I just wonder if Big Bang ended how many of them would go on to succeed in other projects.
I know Johnny Galecki was in roseanne and that was big in it's time so that two hit show for him.
But are they all now forever typecast.
I think they all deserve the money they make - and more. The move to Thursday has been a big success and the ratings are better than ever. It comes down to simple economics. The network is making plenty off this show and will make more in syndication, DVD's, etc. They wouldn't pay it if they couldn't afford it. This is the same a pro sports guys, movie stars, etc. If they bring in a lot of money, they will get a good chunk of it.
As far as type casting most of the cast has done other stuff too. So I think they'll do fine. I could easily see Kaley Cuoco move into movies. Jim Parsons too. I also saw Simon Helberg in "Studio 60" (a really good show by the way). It will be fun to see where they all eventually move on to.
Mostly reruns of shows this week, but a NEW "BIG BANG THEORY!" Looks awesome!!

Fun episode again last night. Loved the little bit at the very end too with Flash Sheldon. Oh, did anyone else notice Penny (Kaley Cuoco) limping when they were all walking down the street after the party? I think this one was maybe filmed not too long after she got her leg cast off.
Such an awesome episode from Thursday. Love it when they all dress up in costume!
Not much of a preview (more of a reminder), but there is a NEW Big Bang Theory on tonight (1/6/11).

CBS Renews 'Big Bang Theory' for Three More Seasons
CBS has renewed The Big Bang Theory for three more seasons, it was announced Wednesday.
The multi-year deal means the hit comedy, which stars Emmy winner Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, will go on through the 2013-14 season.
The Big Bang Theory, currently in its fourth season, premiered September 2007 and aired Monday nights for three seasons before moving to its current Thursday time slot. In its third season, Big Bang was the top scripted series in the adults 18-49 demo and the No. 2 comedy, behind Two and a Half Men, in total viewers.
The series averages 13.9 million viewers and a 4.7 rating in the key demo.
Its cast members, including Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg, recently renegotiated their contracts.
The half-hour multi-camera comedy, from creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, has been nominated for two Golden Globes this year. Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. and Warner Bros. TV produce.
Holy Sheldon! That's awesome news! I'm so glad this show has done so well. I remember I was very worried when it was first on that it might only get a season since it was so "geek" centered. Just shows again that we geeks kind of "rule" the entertainment spectrum these days!
And a big congratulations to Jim Parsons on his Golden Globe award! So nice that it was presented by Kaley Cuoco, too!

I'm beginning to get frustrated with this show. Is it just me, or does it seem to have gotten much more "mainstream" this season? Where are the geek jokes? The unviersity? The research? It's become about weird friends and their quest for sex.
Well I'd say it has always been about weird friends and their quest for sex.

/seconded.
Right, but it used to be more than that. And it also used to be done differently. I don't know how to describe it, really.
There used to be something different and appealing about this show, and now it just seems like any other sitcom. Almost like it's being dumbed down for a general audience.
I wouldn't call it dumbed down. I think they are just trying new things. It's also partly because they are bringing more girls into the series. Keep in mind this season they have had Wil Wheaton, the Indiana Jones episode, the costume Justice League show, and others. And most weeks there are a ton of geek-jokes - many Trek related ones, like Penny and her "shields" being up. I would agree the show has changed and evolved but I still find plenty of geek moments and enjoy it a lot each week.
I find a lot of shows have Geek references in them, maybe more subtle then Big Bang Theory, but it is out there a lot. Shows like How I met your Mother, The Office and 30 Rock are littered with cool geek references, and not in a mocking manner either. Every time they go to Barneys apartment or house in How I met your Mother, there is something geeky cool there.
I must admit, I was a bit let down on this weeks episode, as I was hoping for more Levar Burton, but the one seen seemed to fit well. Maybe he will be back in a future episode along with evil Wil Wheaton :) .
This hasn't been my favorite season but still enjoyable
I think what you guys are seeing is the influence a girlfriend is having on Sheldon. This season seems to be concentrating a bit more on him learning how to handle different social situations and less on firing one joke after the other. It's not dumbed down, just...different.
Maybe that's it - I don't like Amy at. all. She's a copy of Lilith (Cheers), and IMHO a bad one. Bernadette is okay, but her kinks seem unnecessary.
I know stereotypes are funny, but could they give us a geeky girl that's actually attractive? Or an attractive guy that's not dumb as a brick?
Waht about Raj's sister?
Hey watch what you say about my girl Blossom!

I think Bernadette is very pretty, and pretty geeky too.
If you want another attractive geek girl on TV right now, watch "No Ordinary Family." Autumn Reeser who plays Katie on there is a huge comic book fan and geek. She's always quoting characters from comics, "Star Wars" things and so forth.
Wow you geek girls are hard to please.. Team Unicorn releases their video and there is an uproar from the female fandom about how those are not your typical geeky girls (too pretty).. now the fandom is complaining that the "real" geeky girls on BBT are not pretty enough. I think the geeky girls on BBT are just as beautiful as the girls on Team Unicorn just in a different way.. but they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)
I have some opinions about Team Unicorn, but I think this discussion will probably completely derail this thread.
At the end of the day BBT is a fictional comedy about fictional people in fictional situations. No one can be 'too pretty' or 'not geeky enough', they are as pretty or as geeky as is needed to tell a funny story and potentially entertain the majority (yes not just geeks but the majority) of viewers.
The problem, I think, is that we as geeks feel like Big Bang is made uniquely and solely for us, it isn't. It's made for the entirety of the CBS viewing audience.
I don't get the issues either. I mean they can't win for losing. If you put some super hot girl on the show and made her a geek, people would complain about that. I'm sure that there are people that are wondering where the Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, ect. I'm sure that people can always find something to complain about even if some of these complains come off as pretty silly and/or nitpicky.
Good points by all. Of course, some may say that the show doesn't represent "reality." Well, like Joe mentions - it's fiction! It's not real. Do we really think anyone out there is really like Sheldon? Ok, maybe someone is close. But I watch to be entertained. And the show always does that for me, so I keep watching. :)

I can definitely see where you're coming from. We girls have issues. ;) But Team Unicorn and Amy on BBT are the extremes, which is most of what we see in media. Women are either wearing close to nothing, or portrayed as the "frumpy librarian" type. I would just hope for a happy medium. (I will clarify though - I don't dislike Amy because she's a stereotype, I just don't like the character. And the "Geek and Gamer Girls" parody didn't bother me as much as it did some.) Of course, none of the guys on the show are "normal" and it is fiction. But even Penny's hot boyfriend turned out to like comic books. Bernadette and Priya are both attractive and intelligent, but are they geeky? (They don't seem to get the standard "geek" references made by the guys...)
I'm not saying that I hate the show or I'm going to stop watching. I'm just saying that it feels different this season than it did previous. It could be that the cast has more women, it could be a change in the writing - I don't know. I was just trying to say that I'm unsure of the new feel, and it grew into this.... :-[ oops
I guess what really gets to me is not which characters are attractive or not, but how the sexes behave. When the guys are together, while they may be talking about girls, they can also be playing video games or debating comic books. When the girls are together, all they do is discuss their boy problems. Maybe it's because my friends aren't like that, but I can much more easily see myself sitting in Leonard & Sheldon's living room, than in Penny's.
See, I don't get the stereotype at all. I've dated some damned hot and smart girls into gaming and geeky things. My wife and ex-wife are both into sci-fi and gaming. I mean we could be playing VTM table top one day and clubbing the next. I think that there are too many people out there that try to claim a title and get a little bitchy when someone exceeds expectations.
None of my former gaming group would even get close to the geek stereotypes that are out there and actually found them a bit annoying. It's like being able to diversify your preferences and the things that you like to do is some how out of the norm when I don't really see that as having ever been the case for most of the people in my social network. None of them are living in their folks basements collecting comics or not ever getting dates.
I do believe that there are people out there that fit this mold, but I think that they are the exception to the rule.
I recall a podcast a long while ago and someone who is a geek and doesn't like BBT. They went on to say that for them the show was insulting because it makes people like him seem socially awkward or broken. I don't remember the exact words, but I think the counter was that it was just a show and I really agreed with that. I still do, but I think I'm beginning to understand some of the problems people have. If you're too close to the mold, you could take offense at some of the things as a joke directed towards people like you.
If you're too far from the mold, you can take offense at them or other media prettying up or dumbing down what you identify with as your peer group.
I think it all comes down to the picture you have of yourself and your labels in your head.
I personally don't think that there are extremes in geekdom. At least I've never received a welcoming kit that said one must behave or look a certain way to be a centralist geek. It all comes down to what an individual prefers and if they choose to carry that label.
Chris, how many Trek cons or other SF type cons have you been too? I hate to say it, but some the stereotypes are not too far off at times. Not to get more off topic but look at "The Guild" web series (which I love). But just about everyone on that series is probably even more extreme geeky than just about anyone on BBT. Again, for me it's about the entertainment. It doesn't bother me how accurate these programs portray reality. But I have seen people in real life that are darn close to some of the characters on these shows.

I totally agree that some people "fit the profile", but does that "profile" make up the majority or even the median of the group? I mean look at the people here. Most if not all self identify as geeks, but then there is a huge diversity going on. I've been to a lot of cons and I see many of the stereotype live, but is that because they are the majority of the group or is it because a lot of people don't hit the con circuit because they don't want to be around the people that fit the stereotype?
I don't have an answer for that, but I think that if personal experience and the demographics of this board have any validity, we are far more than what the stereotype is. It's also has me wondering what the true "average geek" is. Are they single? Most of the geeks here aren't. Do they have problems attracting the opposite sex? Well, you get the point.
Again, I really enjoy the show, but I think I can see now where some of it might hit closer to home for some more than others and they will have a larger emotional response because of it.
Agreed Chris. There certainly is a very wide diversity out there of "geeks" these days. More so than ever. I think one of the issues is if you created a TV show about socially functional geeks with jobs, wives (or husbands), who have "gotten a life" it might not be as entertaining for some. TV likes to portray "the extremes" a lot of the time. From Jack Bauer to Sheldon Cooper. I guess "normal" doesn't get the ratings. Anyway, interesting discussion.
I would think the con's are the worst place to get an accurate gauge as to the overall "geek" community profile. Folks who take the time and money to attend conventions are going to be a pretty committed lot. I would think the percentage of people who like this kind of content like us don't often attend conventions or big gatherings and so you see a more extreme side of the demographic at them.
My point in bringing up the cons was for two reasons. First, to point out this type of "stereotypical geek" certainly does exist out there - and in a fair percentage. The second maybe bigger point, is this tends to be where the general public sees us "geeks out playing." So this drives their perceptions. Which makes it even harder to reverse some of the stereotypes that have persisted.

Yeah, that certainly is where the media will go to document geek culture and pass the more extreme cases off as the norm.
Haha - this week Sheldons WoW account is hacked. Ohhh...I can relate.
Awesome!

Don't forget - new episode tonight (3/31/11). See clip above.
Awesome episode tonight! Especially for us WOW players.
OMG - it was great. I had my account hacked last year - sent customer service an email. Everything was restored in about 3 days but I would have preferred Pennys solution. :)
Best episode ever
I don't see Sheldon as a blood elf. More of an undead IMO.
Yeah never played WoW.. but know plenty of people how do and they have had their accounts hacked and blizzard is great at restoring the account. But of course if they went this route there would be no story. This was a extremely fun episode... definitely a hit.

I think there still would have been room for story, it generally takes blizzard a few days minimum to restore accounts. Sheldon would still want to teach the miscreant a lesson!
Any chance of Felicia getting Jim Parsons to do a guest spot on The Guild? :)
They could of also gone into the HOW of Sheldon's account getting hacked. I would say since he is pretty naive about many things, the hacker guy could have called him up and said they were Blizzard and asked for his password and Sheldon would have just trusted him and told the guy. Of course, Blizzard NEVER will call and ask for your password for any reason.

Felicia has said she would never 'stunt' cast.. meaning bring on a star for the sake of it being a star, unless there was a role for them and it made sense to the story.
New episode is on tonight. Sheldon and Amy spread gossip.

Fascinating!! :)
Awesome episode last night. Seeing Sheldon out of his comfort zone and out with the girls was a riot. And the smoking monkey - OMG! Loved it!
The smoking monkey was so funny... I laughed and laughed over it. I rewatched it and am now convinced that it was CGI for the smoke.. what do you think?
I saw the rock paper scissors lizard Spock clip on YouTube, it was funny.
( :offtopic there was a tournament of RPSLS yesterday @ school. it was the best recess ever!)
Awesome scene from the last episode.

The Little Message that Chuck Lorre has at the end of the Episode indicated that it was CGI. He sort of Blasted the Monkey for being difficult to work with, though I think we know who he is talking about ;)
At first it looked like one those vapor cigs.
This show is growing on me alot. Love the girls nights out stuff. Penny is so great! Love it when they bash Priya!! :)
Brand new episode is in tonight. Only 3 left this season!

Looks like both Brent Spiner and Wil Wheaton are guesting together in an episode coming up on October 13th. Check it out!
This is AWESOME.
So darn cool!
Great geek-filled episode last night with Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner. Lots of great moments. Loved the opening bit in the comic shop.
yeah last nights episode was especially geeky.
No more evil Wil Wheaton.. not sure how I feel about that. Wonder if we're going to get Evil Brent Spiner now
I think you're right Kenny. It certainly looks that way.....for now :)

I'd love to see more Brent in anything. If it can't be more Star Trek, then Big Bang would be my second choice.
I have to say the last 4 or 5 minutes of the Episode was possibly some of the funniest stuff ever for the show. Great stuff, I watched that final scene a few times over and could not stop laughing
The opening was pretty good. Leonard bartering over the sword was great. I found it funny on a few levels, 1st Sheldon was stressed over possibly missing out as it was limited to 8000 pieces. Then the subtle humor that 8000 run is a pretty big number for a sword actually, that seemed like a nod to collectors.
I haven't had a chance to look closely, but on Twitter...
Bill Prady posted that "At the party in last night's episode, Stewart was talking to #startrek writers DC Fontana and David Gerrold ("Trouble with Tribbles")." Pretty cool extra geeky trivia.
Loved the beginning of the last episode. Hope to see more Spiner and Wheton.
When the wife and I were watching the beginning of Big Bang and they were bartering over the sword, Trish said I would have been like Sheldon and would have just bought it. She would have been the one trying to get the price down. lol I also enjoyed the storyline of Howard going to be an astronaut. And of course loved the final scene with Spiner when he tore open the package. lol and when Leonard bartered with Spiner on the signed Data figures and him to come to a birthday party! lol I do alot of "lol" during Big Bang.
I'll be honest. I don't get into Halloween at all but i did enjoy last nights show. Very funny!
I always like the comic shop scenes and when they wanted to take Leonards picture for meeting a girl there...FUNNY!! And at the end when Sheldon scared Leonard! Awesome, that even scared me!
That was a really fun episode. I hope that new girl Leonard met shows up again. They need a cute, true geeky girl on the show. :)
Really enjoyed last nights episode. I agree with Rico, hope we see this love interest back.
Does anyone else pause and read the "episode notes" at the end of the program. Some of them are extremely funny and insightful.
I do that with the dvd's. I don't have the option of doing it on my basic cable. And she would be a neat character to come back but I think Leonard blew it!
It's way easier to read them here: http://www.chucklorre.com/index.php?p=1 (http://www.chucklorre.com/index.php?p=1)
Also includes the vanity cards for other Chuck Lorre shows like Dharma and Greg...

I agree as well Rico, I am hoping that new girl shows up again, I liked her. I feel the story with Priya has sort of run it's course, and she doesn't really fit in with the rest of the group.
I have to say, I really liked Sheldons Astrosmash shirt, I found it online, so I think I might order myself one.
The new girl is played by actress Courtney Ford who has been on "Dexter" and "True Blood." But Leonard better be careful, she's married to Superman in real life. :superman
I knew I recognised her. Just couldn't think where from!! :)
AWESOME Big Bang Theory last night. They had some great geeky jokes. Including this one about watching "Star Wars" on Blu-Ray.

Another great episode Thursday. I watched it last night though because I went to a friends house to watch the Steelers game on Thursday night. He gets the NFL Network I do not.
at the end of the show after Leonard shoved "the bully" and Sheldon and Leonard are running down the stairs was FUNNY!! Sheldon"I don't need to outrun him, I just need to outrun you!"
Fun episode last night. Found this great picture online from when Summer Glau guested on the show.
Ashamed to admit, I just started watching this show on TBS and LOVE IT. In fact, Joyce watched an episode with me and LOVES it too! :) We DVR'd the new one and can't wait to watch. This is really a fun show! :) LOVE Sheldon!
Better later than never Al! Welcome to the party! ;)
:) Just wish NetFlix would stream it...I want to watch all of the episodes.
I enjoyed the episode from Thursday but why did everybody decide that was a good time to call me. Benadette was really good in it. I missed part of it because I no longer have the dvr system so bummer.
New episode on tonight and I found this cool bit of art online.
I forgot to post this the other day, but I'd come across this on Deviant Art last week. I thought it was very clever.

Great Artwork!
I really think that Howard should dress up as the Tom Baker Dr. Who in at least one episode. He kind of looks a little like him. Maybe it's the nose. ;D
Ive shown off this guys work a few times.
he posted these a while ago but i think they are cool.

I hear (not watched it yet) that Red Dwarf gets a mention in last nights episode....Now will you believe me that Red Dwarf is the best show ever!?
Yep - Sheldon mentions (and shows) that he has the full "Red Dwarf" collection on DVD to try and entice Leonard.
It was an excellent episode. Sheldon, well, Sheldon ROCKS!
*head nod*
'sup
Astronaut to Howard: "Hey, Froot Loops!" LOL!
Poor Howard. He just can't catch a break!
Joe....Sup...:)
Alright....the pedantic in me has to point out a potential error. Sheldon says something about watching all "61 episodes of BBC comedy Red Dwarf". Now there are 55 episodes....but the last 3 are not from the BBC and aren't on that boxset....so where did Sheldon find an extra 9 episodes? Maybe in the extra's....documentaries and outtakes etc....

Well, he IS the great Sheldor!
Apparently Wiki has now been updated. But it did state that there were 61 episodes which included the 3 from Back To Earth (not on that DVD boxset) and the 6 for Season/series X which won't air till autumn this year and aren't on nay boxset....in fact, filming with the live audience finished last week.
So now we know where Big Bang Theory writers do their research!! :)
'sup' Loved last nights episode. I always like it when they go into the comic shop. I always try to see what comics are on the shelf. And yes I saw where Sheldon was holding the Red Dwarf box set. And he was sporting a Blackhawks t shirt for most of the episode. I'm pretty sure thats what it was from. Good plug for one of DC's new 52.
Am I the only one or is Jim Parsons lifting weights?

The more Red Dwarf "savvy" of you may have picked up on the whole popping of the bubble wrap scene. An entire episode had square sheets of red bubble wrap called 'tension sheets' as a plot point...I wonder if that was on the writers minds when they put that scene in or if it was a coincidence?
Funny episode Thursday. A whole episode about Sheldon needing to get a haircut. And when Leonard found out about Sheldon seeing Penny naked was pretty funny but i hadn't realized that Leonard didn't know that. Wasn't that episode a couple of years ago?
This episode's absolute killer line was from Amy....and the look on Penny's face after it was delivered

Don't forget about guest Leonard Nimoy on tonight's new episode (at least in voice only).
Fantastic episode! So geeky and fun!!
Fran and I were laughing our heads off whenever Sheldon and Spock were talking, the way they posed him in every shot was hilarious! :)
Loved the episode. Great banter at the end with Leonard, Sheldon and Penny. My roommate, Jenni and I were laughing really hard, ok I was laughing harder than she was but it was really funny. Loved all the different poses.
Z
I was CRACKING when Penny asked about opening the box.
This episode was a funny blast from the past. When I was a boy I had all the 8 inch figures, and the carrying case/Enterprise Bridge playset for them. One part of it had the little spinner bit that was featured in the episode tonight. Hehe, I remember being a boy and "beaming" my figures down ... it always bummed me out a bit that I could'nt transport them all at once like on the show. Oh, well. Brought back a lot of memories and gave me some good laughs too.
Appaullo
To me, that was one of the best ones ever! LOVED it! I laughed so hard. I too enjoyed the different Spock poses. HILARIOUS!

Really enjoyed the Big Bang this week. All the scenes with the Spock Doll and Sheldon were so great.
Liked the scene when he was on Vulcan, but also the Guardian of Forever was there, and a Gorn. The Sheldon woke up and made that call to little Spock just like the Savage Curtain.
I think this would easily be in my top 5 episodes for Big Bang.
As much as I enjoyed it, I was a little disappointed that we
didn't actually see Leonard Nimoy in the episode
Loved Thursday's episode. Great use of the Spock doll.
And it was funny when Penny gave out the gifts and she gave Leonard a label machine. Funny! And when she asked them to open them was also a very funny scene. It's also funny that I recognized the label machine as a Brother brand because I use to sell them at work. But I missed the Guardian of Forever during Sheldon's dream. Another favorite part is when he wakes up in his dream and says "oh, great. Two suns and I forgot my sunscreen." Very funny. And I loved the Gorn cameo!!
OMG!!!! Last night's episode was sooo funny!!!
My roommate and I were screaming laughing last night when we saw Sheldon dressed in the French Maid's outfit. She thought that Sheldon had nice legs. Howard was so evil to Sheldon but it's not like he didn't deserve it. I thought it was funny when Bernadette got in on it to making Sheldon take Howard's mother dress shopping. I thought for sure that a clerk would have said something to Sheldon or that he would have gotten into trouble for being in the changing room with Howard's mother. Then the thing with Howard's belt buckles. That was a little gross. It was cool seeing Stephen Hawking though, or should I say ACE (for Meds!) ;D
Z
I was just thinking is there ever a bad episode of Big Bang????
There have been less funny episodes but never a disappointment. BB is the Burn Notice of comedies.
So glad to see other people commenting. I don't think I've ever seen a bad one but I have to admit that some are funnier than others.
Z
I would suggest the early part of this season had a little too much relationship c**p in it and not enough true geek humour like the early seasons. However the 2nd half of the season has come on strong with some really great episodes
I love what this show has done for the character development. Especially Penny who is proving to be quite the geek. Especially when you consider how she used to be....
Good to see penny and lenoard are trying to make things work. The flash forward episode was great. Anyone think Bernie and Howard will not get married? it would add a neat twist to the show. just have to wait and see

Yup, really enjoyed it! Lots of fun.
Late to the party here, but, I did really enjoy the finale. Bernadette looked awesome in that wedding dress! And to end it as they did with everyone in the living room, very cool!
Just an image from season 6 premiere. Apparently wolowitz gets into an argument with his mom and bernie - even in space. Why do I think we will hear "don't touch that"?

This show is really funny! One of my all time favorite scenes:
When Penny scrunches up her face at Howard in reference to Scanners. Too funny! I just love that!
I find I usually have to explain a lot of geek references in the show to my wife. Whenever my kids ask "how much longer?" or "How much further?" - I always answer "42". :) They have gotten the full explanation of where this comes from, and now they use this answer themselves.
So when my wife saw Raj wearing a hat with 42 on it...she cracked up.

Thinking back on the last episode...
Didn't Raj talk to the girls in the apartment not being drunk. I know he was drinking at the bar with them.
Raj was drinking while playing D & D too. I think they need a story where Raj joins AA. :)
Not sure if this pic has been posted before, but it's pretty darn sweet!

THE BIG BANG THEORY is a show my whole family loves. which i think is cool if a whole family can enjoy it. i do have to explain a few things to my child, lol.
Missed this last night with the wife and I out of town. Will catch it today on CBS.com.
Last night was one of the best episodes of the series in my opinion. I loved how Sheldon and Amy's relationship actually made some progress and developed some. This show is at it's best when the series takes its characters seriously and treats them like real people rather than caricatures and every plot line did this last night. Raj and Stuart's thread was bittersweet and very funny, and I am happy to see that Stuart is becoming Raj's single buddy since he's a great underused character. The short glimpse into Howard's married life was very funny, and Penny in that nightie was just incredibly hot. And It was so cool how it even made me look at the movie Raiders in a new way! This was probably my favorite episode of this series in a long long time. I hope it can stay this good because there are times I feel it's coasting.
I enjoyed this one as well - I was worried from the last 2 good but not great episodes. This one showed they are back.
Loving this whole season so far!
I have really been getting into the Stuart and Amy characters - they are both so funny. glad that Stuart is getting more air time - now if they can just bring back Captain Sweatpants - I will really be happy.
Curious - were the IJ-ROTLA reveals new to anyone?
Yep as I said above I'd never thought of that before
I'm loving this season... I've heard some grumblings about folks not liking the additional girls (Bernadette & Amy) but I think they have added a whole other dimension to the characters. Amy is one of my favorites.

Nope, Meds, I'm right there with you. We can be odd birds together. My wife and that it's a fairly pandering show to geeks, but that might be our hangups. I seem to prefer single camera comedies anyway. After the Office, these kind of shows feel old fashioned to me and less clever.
Well you guys are just grumpy and wrong! ;)
Well I am a bit grumpy..... rarely wrong ;) lol
I am curious Meds and Chris - what is it about the show that you don't like? I am usually the grumpy one that dislikes shows. :) I was a later comer to BBT, and only started watching in the 5th season, but got caught up completely.
I watch it every week, but that said I can see where Chris and Meds are coming from. There's much I like about it, particularly the main throughline of Leonard and Penny's relationship, and I am very much enjoying where they've taken Sheldon and Amy's relationship recently. The other characters are hit and miss for me. I find it odd that they're turning Bernadette into a clone of Howard's mom, and Raj, though a sweet character, hasn't really worked from day one of the series for me. I'd love it if they decided to try out a more serious (but still funny) take on some of the issues they casually joke about, like social anxiety disorder, broad spectrum autism and/or asperger's syndrome, but then that type of show is not really in the wheelhouse of the creator of Two and a Half Men and Roseanne. I generally enjoy it for what it is, however, most of the time.
I'll admit the show has evolved and taken a more serious tone. Amy and Sheldon, now Raj will have a girlfriend (the vet), Leonard and Penny my guess will be engaged at the end of the season and married by the end of the next season. It will always be geeky and nerdy but they've dealt with some pretty heavy issues. I'll always watch but the appeal is down just a bit for me.
For me I have just never really found it funny, I can see the appeal and i can see why its popular and good on it for that but it just passes me by. I'm also a bit cynical with 'geeky' shows. I don't really get it, i question the issue of it being a homage to fandom and i have always been one who does not like labels (eg trekkers, trekkies, whovians (shudder), geek, etc etc) and i don't associate myself with any of the characters which 'for me' is important as i like a connection. Thats just me though, can't please everyone.

Now I find the one who played Blossom funny. But that could be because her reaction is my reaction to watching TBBT lol ;)
I wonder ( like with The Inbetweeners ) they will make a movie version. I found the film version of the Inbetweeners more entertaining than the series. Is go see it.
I'm not trying to convince anyone else or change their mind. I just really enjoy the show, like the characters and find a lot of funny stuff in it. Any show that changes Rock, Paper, Scissors into Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock along with the hand gestures is pretty cool in my book.
And neither am I but as far as I'm concerned It makes a change for someone to be going against the grain. ;)

CBS' The Big Bang Theory is teaming with Lucasfilm for an epic Star Wars episode timed to Star Wars Day, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In "The Proton Transmogrification" -- the episode set to air May 1 and timed to the annual May 4 Star Wars Day -- the gang gets together to celebrate the annual geek holiday, while Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is guided by visions of his childhood idol and mentor, Professor Proton (Emmy winner Bob Newhart), who appears to the socially challenged genius as his own Jedi master.
PHOTOS: 'The Big Bang Theory's' Nerdiest Guest Stars
For those not in the know, Star Wars Day is recognized every year on May 4, with the traditional celebratory greeting being "May the fourth be with you" -- a play on Star Wars' famed "May the Force be with you" line. Fans across the globe celebrate the film franchise with screenings and special events.
For the episode, the CBS comedy teamed with a group of special effects technicians from Lucasfilm's Industrial Light & Magic to re-create Dagobah -- the remote world of swamps and forest that served as a refuge for Yoda during his exile -- and provide props for the episode, including a light saber. Lucasfilm experts consulted on the episode and visited the Big Bang Theory set to oversee the production, with the final touches completed at its San Francisco headquarters.
"We were approached by the Lucasfilm people to do something to celebrate Star Wars Day, which was nice," co-creator Chuck Lorre tells THR.
Added showrunner Steve Molaro: "We knew that Bob was coming back and Lucasfilm called us, and we realized that that this might be an opportunity to mix both stories and come up with something special."
PHOTOS: Behind the Scenes: 'The Big Bang Theory'
While Lucasfilm consulted on the episode, the idea to re-create Dagobah sprung from the geektastic brains of the Big Bang Theory writers and producers.
"This was all from us," Molaro told THR from the set during production on the episode. "They're excited about everything we're doing, and they're going to help us with the special effects. Bob is going to be swinging a light saber around and they sent us a real one to use. They're going to help make it look and sound right. It's an amazing crossover for us."
And special it will be: Newhart will appear as one of the iconic characters from the Star Wars universe during the episode -- though exactly which character he'll play is being kept under wraps.
"Chuck and I called Bob and let him know what we were thinking about. We had to give him a quick primer on the Star Wars mythology ... he picked it up pretty quickly and was very excited about it," Molaro said.
STORY: 'Big Bang Theory': 15 Things You Didn't Know
Lucasfilm VFX guru Eddie Pasquarello was the on-set consultant for the episode and said it made sense for the company. "We at ILM were very excited to do the effects for it. Everyone loves the show there and to have the tie-in to May the Fourth felt like a good synergy and marriage. We jumped at it," he tells THR. "We did talk about what the set would look like and they sent us pictures of the light saber hilt and the Dagobah set and we were impressed. We talked about the interactive lighting for the light saber and some of the ideas that were there. They did an amazing job of getting it together."
While Star Wars references are nothing new for the geek-themed comedy, the episode will feature an increase in set decoration and wardrobe, with the cast sporting shirts (see photo above) and additional goodies around the incredibly detailed set.
Meanwhile, Newhart tells THR that he had to "do some research" into Star Wars, leaning on producers as well as his family members for its cultural significance.
"I talked to Chuck, Steve and [co-creator/EP] Bill [Prady] about it and they gave me the Phantom Menace so I knew what [Dagobah] would look like. They explained to me what the light saber was and what it could do -- and not to point it at Jim because it would kill him!"

While I don't see myself in any of the characters, I do see a lot of my friends in those characters. That said though, the show still seems to be relying on stereotypes for most of its characters. A decade or more ago, they would have covered most nerds or geeks with their characters. Now we're more diverse. Remember the physicist that rode a motorcycle and dated Penny until she found out he was married? I think that's more accurate these days. Looking at me, you would think I would be more at home in a mosh pit, than at home watching a documentary. I enjoy both of those things. :P That's the only thing wrong with the show, we need more types or nerds.
And mosh pits :D
They are all exaggerations of stereotypes. Comedy always needs a victim. :)

Fun penultimate seasonal show last night:

Yep - another good episode. Really been a fun season!
Yeah, this is a great show and a great season. The wife and I have watched this show since day one and is one of the series we collect on dvd. LOVE IT!
I love it as well. Seems like there is still a lot of life left in it.
Great new episode last night. Seeing Leonard's mother always makes me laugh.
Love what they are doing with Stuart now.
Great to see Stuart taking care of 'Debbie' - Mrs. Wolowitz! His character always cracks me up. I wonder if he'll loose the comic shop for good?
I agree about the comic book shop.
I am thinking Stuart was having some issues with competition any ways - I seem to recall an episode where another store opened up near by? This new job could give him a more prominent role as the other characters start settling down.

What I've been "hearing" - Stewart will be added as a series regular and be Sheldon's new roommate. Leonard and Penny will likely move into her place
Cool - they still have plenty of play left in this show and the characters. Things I want to see before the show ends:
One of the couples having a kid.
Amy and Sheldon...you know what...
The biggest one of all...I want to get a look at Mrs. Wollowitz.. :)
Oh, and one other - I want to see Michio Kaku do a guest appearance.

As the star of Blossom, she was one of the biggest stars of Nineties TV.
But today Mayim Bialik revealed that after starring in the show, she not only stopped working in the TV industry - she stopped watching television altogether.
Speaking to Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on KIIS FM 1065, Mayim, 38, who is currently starring in hit TV show The Big Bang Theory, said she had no idea how big the show was when she landed the role of Dr Amy Farrah Fowler.

Regarding the Penny & Raj's girlfriend story:
The tension between then could be a lot of fun - as poor Raj learns to deal with that conflict.
Amy seems to be getting back to her character's basics:
Her girl-crush on Penny is back in full swing, and had seemed to wane a bit last season - as her character became more 'mainstream'
Fun season so far but still it's weird having the series on Monday (glad it's moving back to Thursday soon). This week's episode about the trip to Vegas for the girls and the guys working on trying to invent something was a great episode!
D'oh! missed it tonight - but the DVR picked it up.
Sad news - the actress doing the voice of Mrs. Wolowitz passed away:

Just read that - a great loss. She was one of my favorite parts of the show.
I remember her from that old Michael J Fox movie 'The Secret Of My Success' - she was his secretary in that film. Very sad.

Wow I had no idea that was her, she had a great role in that film. Funny. I wonder how they'll address her death, it would be a sobering episode for sure if she dies in the show. Big Bang doesn't like to do serious too often (if ever) but I think this cast could handle it well.
They must have this whole season in the can already. Perhaps they will do something with the Stuart Mrs. Wolowitz story line.
Season 7 bloopers. So funny!

Great new episode tonight:
I thought it was nice how they dealt with the death of the actress who does the voice of Mrs. Wolowitz. I will miss her. I recall her as Michael J Fox's secretary in 'The Secret of my success'
Yep, great episode. Loved the stuff with Penny being tested by Amy. :)

That was really funny. This show still has got it. It evolves very effectively. I really like how Stuart is playing a bigger role.
If only they can bring back Captain Sweatpants..
This show is always awesome. Too bad I close on Thursday now so its CBS all access for me.
I wonder if they will somehow work in Leonard Nimoy's passing into the show next year. He did a guest voice at least once that I can recall.
This is super cool!!!

Getting ready to go have a mini marathon of episodes I have missed because of my late night on Thursday now. Thank you CBS All Access.
Tonight's show was funny.
Any catch the last episode of the season?
Yep - it was a good season ender. Lots happened.
Why oh why did he tell Penny.... no good will come of it, it's Over.
I actually got a bit annoyed - since I thought it would have rebooted their relationship. On again off again is getting tedious. :)
I was fine with it all...
At the end Penny said they were still going to get married.
I liked the last episode but it was not one of my favorites of the season.
Anyone else catch the first show of Season 9? I thought it was fun - and it seems to not have jumped the shark yet.
I would like to see a show without the tension between Leonard and Penny - I was half expecting them to break up right before the wedding.
wait.... Big bang started last week? what!!!!!!
Not often I beat anyone on this site to the punch on seeing a new show.. ;)

I agree. Enough with the Leonard and Penny tension.
Still enjoying this series. Fun season premiere.
hilarious show, as always.
Very fun show last Monday! Love that song Howard and Raj came up with and to sing it at a comic book store was very cool and funny!
Still enjoying the series as well. I like how Stuart has been playing a more prominent role. I want to see Capt. Sweatpants step up as well. :)
Still loving this show:
Predictably stringing us along with Sheldon and Amy. Leonard in the nightie was too funny! I read a spoiler that Sheldon and Amy get back in a December show - no surprise there I think. They may actually engage in the 'C' word - coitus... ;)
Fun guest star last night!
I work on Thursday night so since this moved back to Thursday I try to catch it on CBS all access over the weekend and so far I haven't had a chance to watch it.
I absolutely loved the most recent episode! We (the whole family watches) really cracked up.
Poor Wheatley!
What did you guys think of the latest episode?

The Meemaw episode was awesome! The side stuff with Raj and the girl in the comic shop was fun too.
Agreed - I am so pleased that this show is evolving and staying fresh. Need more stuart and Cpt. sweatpants! :)
Wow, that last couple of shows have been really good. What a bombshell!!
YEs indeed - looking forward to a new show tonight.
Sheldon drunk was hilarious!
Just watched Thursday's episode. It was so good! And I agree Rico Sheldon was hilarious!
Anyone watch the first show of this season?
It was fun, but not great.
Glad to see Penny's family, but I thought the brother was not cast well - and not too funny. A brilliant move would have been to have the guy who played Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad be her brother. :)
I liked it well enough. Season opener are never the best episodes.
I agree. Good episode but not great. I was really wondering what Sheldon was going to say when he stood up during the wedding though.
