Amy and I watched UNDER THE DOME last night and were pleasantly surprised!
Looking forward to the mystery unfolding. Did anyone else catch it? What did you think?
Recorded, but need to watch it still.
Yeah, we just watched it and I liked it a lot!
Really enjoyed it. An interesting mystery and a nice bunch of interesting and diverse characters.
It's very good....that cow part was nasty! I never read the book, but I'm a big Stephen King fan.
I will have to catch this. Can't help but think of the Simpsons movie - with the dome over Springfield (which must have been inspired by this idea).
Oh nice, wasn't aware this started already. I'll have to watch it. Big SK fan. The book was one of his lighter numbers--just loads of page turning fun with tons of characters.
Its pretty good.... they filmed it here where i live and i got to say hi to Mr King last winter.
I enjoyed it a lot. Seems to be following the book closely but I hear some departures are forthcoming. I also read that they're considering making this an ongoing series if ratings are good, so I'm hoping the ending is conclusive just in case. We wouldnt want another Golden Years or Kingdom Hospital
i have the book, haven't read it yet, but i hope CBS will reshow it, i missed the first show.
cool marko, so you live in or near willington(my spelling sucks, lol)
The Screen gems studio is in Wilmington which is 2o miles from me but they do most Movies and TV shows here In South Port and Oak Island. There is always a movie or TV show being filmed here lots of people i know are full time extra's , last year they filmed the entire movie safe haven here and also at the same time a bunch of scenes for Iron Man 3 fun to see the stars hanging out locally.
We finally watched it, loved it. Great cast so far.
SK+BKV is a good team :)
Hmm, saw the 2nd episode and was a little disappointed, but I can't quite articulate why. Perhaps just felt like nothing happened, no escalation of tension, and the characters didn't become more compelling. Hopefully it'll pick up a bit.
I've watched both episodes so far. Interesting premise. Characters are certainly not all good people. Seems to be more of a character study than about the dome itself. Oh, Amazon already has a gift set for preorder for this season with a collectible of the town under the dome.

I am hoping that the episodic nature of this series helps with the major problem I have with most Stephen King adaptations. With very few exceptions, the characters in SK film/TV adaptations lack the richness and development they get in his novels. I think what most people love about his books is that his characters are so relatable, and rich, and when freaky things start to happen to them we feel it that much more because we care about the people. I don't know if it's poor casting, bad acting, bad scripts, or a combination of it all and more, but the characters in film adaptations like the Stand, It, Pet Sematary...you name it really, all seem paper thin and one dimentional, which makes the creepy stuff seem less real or meaningful. For me the exceptions are Carrie, the Shining (the film not the terrible TV mini series), and Christine...great acting made the difference in these in my opinion. I am hoping with ten or twelve episodes, Under the Dome has a chance to really make you care about some of these people.
They were filming here on Tuesday and Wednesday i didn't see it but next time i'll take pics and video if i can. Also Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks were down last week scouting locations.... wonder what they are up too?
Marko
so cool

Gosh. I really wanted to like this show, but 3 episodes in, it kinda blows. Or is it just me?
I think it's interesting so far... not enough for me to tell if I'm going dig it or not.

I'll continue to give it a chance....or two... :)
I haven't watched episode three yet so I'm still early...the whole storyline with the kidnapping is really dumb and unbelievable, totally different than the book. This appears to be suffering from the SK curse but I'm gonna keep watching, it's summer after all, not much else on. This wasn't one of my favorite King books to begin with and so far the show is not as good as the book.

I will say I'm not as entranced as I thought I'd be. I think it's interesting enough to hang on for a bit. There may be 2 likable characters in the whole show, the cop (I forget her name) and the smart kid. That's a bit of a problem for me.

Hmm yes true. That is bugging me. Even Barbie isn't likable yet.
Also BKV needs to stop making the teenagers say "spaz" every other sentence. It is ... strange.
I had to run a few things over to the post office to be shipped yesterday .... well no go as they were filming there uggggh, what a hassle..... if they are filming today I'll get some video and pics to post.
Yeah, I thought the last episode was really weak right until the end, then it got really good. Nice save, I was about to throw in the towel.
My towel has been tossed in on this one.
I'm sticking with it, my extreme Stephen King fandom is propelling me on this one.
I was having trouble with most of the characters. And the concept didn't grab me very much. I think I can see where things are going.

Actually, from the little I know of the novel, it's going to an interesting place but it might be a bit of a slog to get there. But man, there were moments of such utter crap in the last episode, so heavy handed, predictable, and just dumb, that I was ready to delete it from the DVR.
Parts of it are interesting. I liked the kid sitting up and shushing the camera during his seizure, pretty creepy. I'm over the shot of the half cow, they can stop showing it now. As I said I'll keep watching since not much else is on currently.
Jesus, in one episode they go from everyone hanging out in the diner eating and wasting food to become psychotic rioters. This show is now profoundly stupid.
I still haven't seen this series. I saw the premise when it was an episode of Haven and it just hasn't interested me. I might give it a chance when the season is done.

lol Bryan. Yeah pretty much agree but unfortunately the source material is pretty dumb as well. Not much to work with, makes you wonder why, with all the SK material out there to choose from, they decided on this book to adapt? I'll keep watching to the bitter end anyway.

Oh, I am so annoyed at this point I have no choice but to continue down the rabbit hole! And this turd has been renewed for a second season, I'm screwed!
AAAAnnnddd...renewed.

"Under the Dome" will return next summer and Stephen King himself will decide how that works.
CBS CEO Les Moonves kicked off the network's first day at the Television Critics Association's summer meetings with the announcement that the hit show, about a mysterious, invisible dome cutting off a small Maine town, had been renewed for another 13-episode arc and that King, who wrote the book on which the series is based, will write the first episode.
The show is simply littered with so much false tension!
Yeah. It's not great is it? put off watching it for 3 weeks and watched the last 3 episodes back to back. I'm not sure where they're going with it but it's taking a long time to get there. Unreliastic characters don't help. The riot and looting, murdering over in a flash... It's a shame because I thought it was intriguing to start with.
Yeah. My wife and I were laughing pretty hard at this latest one. They go from being calm when they think they are going to get blown up to murdering each other because the water tower breaks, then hug each other when it rains.
Missed the last couple weeks, so I think we're pretty much done with it. :( poo disappointing
The diabetic story line was not researched at all. CRAZY

I KNOW! One of those bottles should last quite a while. Silly.
I have all six episodes still on my DVR... but I've been hearing such bad things about it.. and you guys don't seem to like it any better.. may just delete it all.
