More on this new series coming to the CW in the fall of 2012.
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow was a prominent part of the last few seasons of "Smallville," which may have helped pave the way for a series with the character in the lead. But "Arrow" is a full reboot, not a "Smallville" spinoff.
The CW's new show, which will air on Wednesday nights in the fall, stars Stephen Amell ("Private Practice," "Hung") as Oliver Queen, the scion of a billionaire family who was presumed dead in a shipwreck. He's found five years later but returns to his Starling City home a changed man and adopts an alter ego, Arrow, to help the downtrodden and try to right the wrongs his family has done in the past.
And, since he's a billionaire and doesn't have any superpowers of his own, we're guessing that Oliver will have the means to make or acquire some pretty good gadgetry.
"Arrow" also stars Katie Cassidy ("Gossip Girl," "Melrose Place") as Oliver's former girlfriend, Laurel Lance (who has some secrets of her own), Colin Donnell ("Pan Am") as Oliver's brother Tommy, Willa Holland ("The O.C.") as his sister Thea and David Ramsey ("Blue Bloods") as Oliver's bodyguard John Diggle. Susanna Thompson ("Kings," "Once and Again") plays Oliver's mother, Moira, who may know more about her son's shipwreck than she lets on, and Paul Blackthorne ("24," "The River") is Laurel's father, a detective who wants to bring Arrow and his vigilante ways down.
Greg Berlanti ("Green Lantern," "Brothers & Sisters"), Andrew Kreisberg ("Warehouse 13," "Eli Stone") and Marc Guggenheim ("FlashForward," "Eli Stone") are executive producing "Arrow" along with pilot director David Nutter ("Smallville," "Game of Thrones").

Cool!
pretty cool looking!
I'll be watching this. I have been reading the New 52 comic of Green Arrow.
The video looks great. Hoping the series is as cool too.
Looking foward to this series but I don't like the idea of them changing the name of the city. Why?? There is nothing wrong with Star City. Why would they think the Starling City sounds better?
Here is a link to an extended trailer and it was really good.

The link didn't work. Maybe someone can post the trailer instead.
Longer trailer. This is looking better and better!
Arrow TV Series Trailer [HD] 720p (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24kQJlHrTqI#ws)
This series starts next Wed. on October 10. Should be a good one! I want to watch it on Hulu if they carry it so I can watch it in HD. But I'll watch the premiere on the CW so I don't miss it if they don't play it on Hulu.
Just wanted to put a reminder out there.
Starts tomorrow night!
ARROW ~ First TV Spot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68CFEO5jWYM#ws)
I really liked the premier, felt like a movie- violent and dark, but very well done. I hope it continues.
Yeah, real cool. Love the little tidbits of the DCU in there...I'm just waiting for a boxing glove arrow.

I agree. It was a bit darker and more violent than I thought it was going to be. Definitely not Smallville. Although I swear the Queen mansion used to be the Luthor mansion. Loved the whole "lair" in the old steel mill. I'm definitely liking this so far.
Looks like the first episode was a huge ratings hit!
The CW has announced the ratings for their new DC show Arrow and it looks like the premiere was quite successful. Here's the press release:
Last night's premiere of ARROW was right on target with the network's goal of broadening out and bringing new viewers to the network - it drew 4.02 million viewers, the most watched telecast on the network of any show, on any night, in three years (11/12/2009).
ARROW was the most watched premiere on the network since THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (9/10/2009).
This was the most watched show in the Wednesday 8PM time period in more than three years (5/13/2009)
Versus last year's premiere of H8R in the time period, it more than doubled its audience (4M vs. 1.3M) and was up 57% in A18-34 (1.1/4), and 117% in A18-49 (1.3/4)
The ARROW premiere also gave SUPERNATURAL a boost last night, it was SUPERNATURAL's most watched episode (2.6M) since 10/15/10, and was its best A18-34 rating since 3/4/11 (1.0/3)
Last night was The CW's best Wednesday night in total viewers (3.3M) in more than two years (5/12/10) and in two years in A18-34 (1.0/3, 12/10/10) and in A18-49 (1.2/10, 10/13/10)
ARROW tied NBC's original comedies in the 8-9PM hour in total viewers (4M) and in A18-34 and A18-49.
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
From Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter, the hard-hitting action series reinvents the DC hero. After being marooned for five years on a remote island, billionaire Oliver Queen returns home with a mysterious agenda and very lethal new set of skills that he uses in a war on crime.
The show airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw it, I'm pretty sure it's the same place, maybe with some extra bits added on. Glad it did well in the ratings!
I enjoyed the second episode quite a bit but one thing jumped out at me. How come all these guys he shoots with arrows don't scream out in pain more? It seems kind of weird. But I am enjoying the mysteries that are popping up (especially towards the end of the last episode). Cool series so far.
I have the first two episodes recorded.. haven't watched yet. Don't have a lot of time but from what I'm reading here it's worth a go?
Think, a grittier "Smallville", with a little Batman tossed in. I'm liking it a lot.
Yeah, it's really a great show so far.
Second episode was better than the first, and next week: DEADSHOT! I am loving this show so far and I didn't expect to. Well acted and a pretty good plot.
Luthor Mansion and the X-mansion were both using the same mansion as a set for certain areas, which is also the case with Arrow. It's called Hatley Castle.
http://www.hatleycastle.com/ (http://www.hatleycastle.com/)
Each episode of this series has been very cool and the story is getting more and more interesting. Things are already happening I thought we would have to wait a long time for. Pictured below is the Huntress who will be appearing first in the Nov. 28th episode. Liking this series a lot.
The last show I watched was the one with Deadshot. Very good episode. There are 2 Deadshot mini-series that I have. A 4 parter came out in 1988 and a five parter came out in 2005. The 2005 series was called Urban Renewal. I don't think they were ever released in a graphic novel. And I think they are the only 2 mini-series that were published.
And it seems we won't be seeing Deadshot again.
Really enjoying this series! I put it off because I was not a huge fan of the Green Arrow in Smallville and haven't ever read the comic, but boy this is great, compelling television! Nothing like the Smallville character at all, and a very different feel than that series overall. Really looking forward to the rest of the season.
I agree Joby. This series is off to a great start. The stories are interesting and I like how they are weaving in the flashbacks of Oli's time on the island. Definitely my favorite new show of the season.
Yeah I am chalking it up to yet another show I love that I probably never would have tried watching were it not for the positive recommendations of my friends here on the forums! So thanks!
Does anyone who is more familiar with DC continuity know if the character Diggle(weird name) is based on a character from the comic books?

I didn't remember him from any of the old or New 52 comics so I did some checking and it looks like Diggle is just in the Arrow tv universe. They are coming out with an Arrow comic at the end of this month and It looks like he will also be in that.
Watched the episode 'Damaged' last night. Loved it!
It was awesome to see Deathstroke.
Get caught up! It's a great show.
Watched the episode with the Royal Flush Gang and there is a change in what Arrow does in Starling City. Enjoyed this episode but looking foward to the next 2 featuring The Huntress.
Loved the last two episodes featuring the Huntress. Awesome stuff! Definitely my favorite new series this year.
Watched the Episode "Year's End" on Friday to get ready for the return on Arrow on Wed. I'm looking foward to the 2nd half of the season. And I agree with Rico about those 2 Huntress episodes. They were both very good. I also enjoyed seeing Deathstoke again in "Year's End".
I'm pretty intrigued by the show so far,
love Captain Jack Harkness being the bad archer. Too bad he can't die. Interested to see how the island is linked to what is going on with the mother's stuff.9/spoiler]
Careful - spoilers.... :)
I have been watching Arrow and I am Loving it!!!!!
I'm cooling off a bit but still watching. The drama with sis and mom is pretty boring, and the procedural nature of the show is starting to wear thin. Also not so enamored of the flashback conceit still going on 12-13 episodes in. Are they going to keep that up for the whole series? Finally, step dad is kidnapped and still Green Arrow isn't focusing all his investigations on finding him? I still have high hopes but honestly I'm starting to get bored with this show.
I'm still really enjoying the show. I will agree that it does seem odd that Oliver isn't searching for step-dad - yet. But with what happened at the end of the most recent episode I think that might change - maybe. But I just like the vibe of the show and especially the rapport between Diggle and Oliver.
well..
I think the reason he wasn't looking for his step dad is that he didn't know the man was kidnapped. This happened only a few days after he returned from abruptly leaving his wife and not telling her where he was going. Couple that to the whole list thing and it's not hard to see why he's not placed priority on stepdad.
True. I find it sometimes tricky to estimate the passage of time on some TV shows.
"Arrow" has been given an early renewal for a second season already by the CW!
Also coming back next fall will also be "The Vampire Diaries" (which is still good), as well as "Supernatural."

Still enjoying the show, glad they are giving it a chance to develop by commissioning another season.

This season the show has gotten better and better, glad it's coming back.
Agreed. Did you see the last episode? I like....
The fact that now a few people know who Oli really is. Having his friend Tommy know makes sense since he is running the club over the "Arrow-cave." Some really cool stuff and I'm enjoying the island flashback info too.
I'm a little behind again on this show. Just watched Vertigo last night. Good episode. I also go to IMDB to rate the episode and they sometimes have info about where the characters come from in the comics. Pretty interesting how they change it around to fit a tv show.
I really loved last week's episode written by Geoff Johns (look him up if you don't know him, his DC work is epic). I used to not care too much for the island stuff, but now that Deathstroke is in every flashback, it's way better. I wonder if they are going to go into any comic-type stuff with him being a sort of super-soldier. And Deadshot is back, sweet. And
Ollie revealing himself to Tommy is gonna have ramifications. Even though it seems his dad is the Merlyn villain of the comics, I'd put money down that Tommy is gonna be taking that mantle to line up with the New 52.
So glad this show is great.
Yep - I'm really digging this show too. Definitely my favorite new series this season. And it gets better and more interesting with each episode.
I'm 3 episodes behind right now. I really want to get caught back up. I also have been really enjoying this show.
Watched the 'Salvation' episode a few days ago and watched 'Unfinished Business' tonight after being on the Skype chat. 'Unfinished Business was really good and I liked it when Diggle showed up and started kicking butt! Fun episode.
This series hasn't been letting up at all. The last few episodes have been awesome! Season finale is next week. Still my favorite new series of this past season.
This show has been a really pleasant surprise for me. It doesn't seem like something I'd like on the surface, as it has all the excessive glossiness that the CW inherited from the WB (even the worse part of town is cleaner than the best parts of some real towns), but Arrow's being just a bit more stylized than its predecessors combined with the fact Ollie will actually make good on violent threats makes it work for me.
I find Arrow very much like a modern fairy tale, with Ollie as a twenty-first century Robin Hood who's left the forest but carries on his war from his ancestral castle. While he's the scion of one of Starling City's noble families, he's now mostly arrayed against them. The local sheriff doesn't much like him, but he is winning the hearts of the commoners.
Watched the episode 'Home Invasion' last night and really enjoyed. Looking foward to see how the rest of the season plays out with Ollie and Diggle at odds.
The season finale was amazing! This show is just great!!
Yes, very well done and exciting! I caught a Ferris Airline logo, nice tie in to Green Lantern. Hoping for more DCU creeping in next season, looking forward to Roy and Green Arriw (hopefully) working together.
Finished the last 2 episodes last night. Awesome finale!! So well done. Can't wait until next season to start!

Yeah, Rico I'm pretty sure that's that for him. I listened to an interview with Steven Amell on Geektime, he really seems super enthusiastic and into his character. Really looking forward to season 2, he said they have been given license to utilize alot more of the DCU than they have been. Maybe a trip to Metropolis or Gotham is in order???

I'd like to see that very much. Ive been just lukewarm on this series although it definitely picked up during the last three or four episodes of the season. Ill be watching season 2 especially if there's some more recognizable characters from DCU. I hope the flashback to the island thing doesn't continue much longer. Are they really going to drag the origin story out for the life of the whole series?
Joby, I saw a Parleyfest interview with the cast and Steven really likes that part of his character. If I remember right he said he hopes they continue it.
And as far as the question I asked in my spoiler tag. This is a show based on a comic book.

WOW! That is an awesome montage and preview for season 2! Summer Glau joining the series too! Can you say, Geek-gasm!
OHHHHH Wow! I can't wait! Black Canary too!!! Loved it when he looked at the Arrow when Diggle asked him what he wanted to be called.
Yeah, I really love how this show is sort of becoming the DC TV show, at least some second tier DC. I like Steven Amell alot, he should show up in the Justice League.

That would be beyond awesome if they did that!! It would be a good move on Warner Bros. part to do something like that. It would bring in all the Arrow fans that's for sure!

Great first episode of season two. Lots of cool stuff going on. I just don't quite buy Summer Glau as this ruthless business woman. I'm hoping there is more to her than that. Overall, great to see this back!

That was great! Just hope they don't over use the trick arrow stuff.
I for one would love to see more trick arrows. I just hope they don't use trick arrows just to use them. I would like them to make sense to use in the situation. That said, even though it's silly, I would LOVE to see the boxing glove arrow. Even if it's sitting on a table and never used.
The wife and I both enjoy this show. I'll catch last nights show pretty quick. We like to watch it on Hulu in HD so we wait a day. Really enjoyed the episode with the Bronze Tiger even though I wasn't sure who that was until I looked it up on IMDB.
I might be alone in this, but I'm finding myself very wary of the direction the second season is taking.
One of the things that won me over to the show was the choice to take Oliver's attitude towards his list of enemies to the logical extreme given the setup story, rather than filter it through the conventional, rather rigid, superhero morality.
Oliver wasn't using the list as a hit list as he gave each person a chance to do the right thing, but some of them died by his bow. It's not the same as the comics, but it bought the character a lot of credibility.
The second season emphasis on Oliver deciding to swear off lethal tactics at any cost because Tommy Merlyn died with unsolved issues is.. thin at best to me. While I liked the storyline at the end of season one, I didn't think Tommy was a very good friend by the end of it.
I'm going to keep watching, but the second season credits trying to sell the "honoring the memory of my friend" thing every episode has not been encouraging.
I think it's a natural progression of being a hero, plus being a weekly TV show. How long can somebody be a hero if they are just straight-up murdering people on a list? I like this direction, it makes sense to me.

I agree. More hero, less vigilante. And more trick arrows, please!
I've been enjoying season two alot more than season one so far. It seems darker, less silly, and the flashback less frequent and seemingly more relevant. Seems like big improvements on all fronts. One question I had is how Oliver could work so closely with Laurel's father on the most recent episode and not have his identity compromised? All the guy had to do on several occasions was look over his shoulder for a full face reveal.
I think this show has progressed nicely from the start of season one. They have a nice set of characters and the episodes have a good amount of variety too. As far as hero vs. killer vigilante I think that will be an ongoing issue for Oliver. I can see him still killing in the future, when there are not other options. But it just won't be as quick and easy as it was in the early days of the show.
Last week's episode was amazing. So many things going on now with this great show. Preview for tonight's episode:

Yes, last week's episode was great with the
(Black) Canary
reveal...should be interesting to see how it affects the characters. I'm glad there's a couple of good female characters on the show because the Laurel character is getting to be a bit much.
Wouldn't it be cool to see Ollie take a trip to Bludhaven...or Gotham??

Why didn't the writers have Oliver send a representative in his stead to that hospital charity event a few episodes ago? Wouldn't that have made more sense? Thanks for the trailer, Rico. I'm looking forward to the new episodes, too.
I think because that would interfere with the policy that Oliver must be in every scene of every episode of the show even when it makes no sense or defies the laws of time and space.
LOL. I think the easier answer is it continues the plot of Oliver not appearing to be concerned about his company and the sacrifices he must make in order to be the Arrow.

Three episodes tonight. Sadly in slightly the wrong order!

OK, decided. Yup.
It's really getting awesome.
Yeah, I wish I could beat people up with my motorcycle.
Watching Ep 5, part of the joys of working at home. Shhh ;)
I'm getting intrigued by the back story as much as anything (bearing in mind I'm not a comic guy). Let's see how fast I can get through this :)
I'm glad you decided to watch it. One of my faves if not my fave right now. I think it gets better and better as it goes along. And my wife does watch this with me. I also really like the mask and that Det. Lance asked him about when they were on the roof.

I would think that would be a terrific idea. The guy is great and fits the role perfectly. Even a cameo would be cool to see.
I do like the way they are building a team of those 'in the know' as we go through this series (the 1st). It's so much nicer than dropping everyone into position in the first episode and trying to make that believable. The dual storyline of 'now' and 'then' (on the island) is also doing a lot to keep me engaged.
The only thing I've really struggled with is how quickly Queen hit the ground running with his new persona once he got home. I'd have thought months if not years of elapsed time would be required to be set up with kit like that. It's a small thing and should easily be forgiven for story reasons but they've been so hot on everything else that it grates on me just occasionally.
That aside, it's still jumping up my list to become one of my top programmes of the moment. (I guess watching it all in a couple of weeks helps with that).
Mike... If you still need to see the early part of season one I think your comment will be answered about how quick Oliver gets up and running. There is a break in period of time. Not as long as maybe reality would take, but it works for a TV show.
Hmm. I may actually need to go back to the early part if that's the case. I perhaps wasn't paying enough attention while I was feeling my way into things.
Just re-watched episode one and realised that I completely missed that fact that
he bought a box of stuff back from the island, including the bow etc
.
Finding that out goes some way towards answering my 'speed of set up' questions.
The episode also shows
the initial configuration of the 'arrow cave'
and, since we discover later on that this is not a 'reel time show' (e.g. six weeks can pass between episodes), I guess I'm willing to cut it a bit more slack than I first thought.
Given the constraints of story, I accept they needed to compress things and, looking back from what I know now (to episodes to go) I guess they did all they could.
This is a well thought out show!
Yes, it's a solid show. Plus he spent time building his trio team of Diggle and Felicity.
Huntress is coming back near the end of March.

Another cool episode last night. One thing that is great about this series is they don't drag stuff out. This isn't "Lost" - LOL! Lots of plot threads and reveals happening this season.
Yay! Season two (so far) daily recap on Sky 2 starting midnight on Monday. Looks like I can get fully caught up before Season 2 comes back after mid-season in a couple of weeks.
What an intense episode of "Arrow" tonight. WOW! This show is not slowing down.
Such a great episode again tonight. Season finale next week!!
Cool shot of the Arrow...
Oh, man. The last two episodes of Arrow were awesome!! They were non stop! Love this show. Bring on Season three!!!!
I'll have to ad this one to the list as well....I need to clone myself to catch up on all these good shows.

Yes - you do. Two great seasons of this one to enjoy!
Oh dear, and Defiance is creeping up again...where am I going to find the time!
It's hard. I still have 3 episodes of Shield and like four of Revolution but Arrow is worth ALL the time you put into it. Season 2 is better than the first I think.
Fan credit sequence. Nicely done!

Oh, Man. That gave me goosebumps. That is going to be awesome. But I thought that was Clark Kent not Ray Palmer?
Brief season three promo...

Can this show get any cooler or better? I think the answer is no to both.

Hey, Superman! :superman Oh, wait....
Read a quote from Liam Neeson saying he would have reprised Rhas al Gul any time, how cool would that have been?
Season three poster...
As good as Arrow has been so far this season (and I am really enjoying it) not many people are watching. I was shocked when I saw the ratings, and that Arrow only garnered a 0.9 share among the 18-49 year old viewers. It sits just tenth from the very bottom of the list. I hope it picks up some viewers. It does have the benefit of being on a pretty terrible network, the only shows on CW doing better are the new Flash, Supernatural, and Vampire Diaries, though all are also near the bottom of the ratings list. So even with the horrible ratings it might survive as the best of a lowly bunch.
Joby the ratings are just fine. The third season premiere ratings were up over last year's ratings. It's always been around a 0.9-1.0 or so. For a non-main network show those numbers are very good.
Foreboding..

Ok, it looked bad and surprised me sitting near the bottom of the chart of about 80 shows I saw, since everything I'd seen implied the show is doing well.
The show is doing very well.
Glad to hear it, it's one of my favs. Flash too is great fun!
I'm starting to see trailers over here. Getting excited for Season 3!
And to think Enterprise couldn't make it with an average 5.0 rating. Boy things have changed!!
Starts on Thursday!
Felicity's mom shows up on this week's "Arrow." WOW! :wub

Arrow continues to be top notch, I loved the last episode...but...
I'm getting kinda tired of this Oliver/Felicity crap. Perfect example of what happens when the will they/won't they get together thing kinda goes wrong. Felicity is becoming the annoying character (not much, I like her) that Laurel was last year. Love the show, love it all, but this romance with Ollie and her was a mistake and I hope she gets with Palmer and can get back to being the awesome support person in the Arrow cave.
Not to spoil but they could very well be going the direction you want if last episode is any indication.

Yeah, I know. But the forced "relationship drama" stuff I hate is still gonna happen. It's almost as bad as the Love Triangle trope that happens in almost every show on the air nowadays.
I'm fine with it all. It makes sense based on what Oliver is planning on doing by working with Malcolm. Felicity would be the most against that. I don't find any of it forced. When Sara was removed from the situation this was bound to happen. Still one of my top favorite shows! :)
I haven't watched yesterdays episode but I did watch last weeks "Suicidal Tendencies" and really liked it.
With the Atom going up against the Arrow and Arsenal was very cool. But I didn't like that they killed off Deadshot. Of course its a show based on comic books so he might not be dead afterall. lol
Just watched Public Enemy! Very good episode. Can't wait to watch Broken Arrow.
Definitely big stuff going on this season for this series.
Not sure what I think about Oliver's big change. It will be interesting to find out how it plays out. He is supposed to show up in Flash again too. Sooooo??
Just finished watching Wed. episode and it was AWESOME!!! What a great episode! It was really cool to see
Atom against a jet! And Katana in full costume. Very very cool!
Just started watching this. Kind of digging it. Lots of what I enjoyed about Daredevil, but enough of a budget to do the grander scale of the plot lines justice. Obviously more going on than is being let on, what with the partial reveal flashback storytelling. Absolutely loved this exchange:
"I spilled a lot of coffee on my laptop. Can you fix it?"
"Really? Because those look like bullet holes."
"It was in a bad neighborhood."
Welcome to the Arrow-verse! And yeah, Felicity has some great lines.
Likely headed into mysticism for season 4, with a possible side of Constantine? I'm in!

Never been a fan of the magical side of the DC or Marvel comic characters so I could do without Constantine showing up. Of course I love these DC shows too much to not watch it every darn week!
New "Arrow Cave" for season 4. WOW! :jawdrop

Now Felicity does karate.....hoo boy.
Looks great...Looks like everyone thinks Ray died in that explosion...I'm sure he's just stuck as small or something. Cool stuff. Star City, finally!
Don't be dissing on Felicity now! Or Oli-city. ;)

Can't wait to see what breaks them up this year, leading to even more forlorn glances. :p
No break up no break up for cryin out loud! Cool video.
Wow, just watched the mid-season of Arrow! Man that ending took you in many directions. Hurry up and get here next episode!
