Well Rico has kindly allowed me to post a bit of podcast promotion here on his forum, what a guy.
As some of you know I have started my own podcast devoted to classic television broadcast on British TV between 1960 to 1990. We'll be covering a lot of Brit made TV but also some USA made TV and Australian made TV. Its all classic stuff that was shown on standard (eg not cable, sky etc) television channels (which for us Brits was 4 channels, BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4). We'll be talking about Monty Python, Red Dwarf, Dads Army, Mr Ben, The Clangers, Dr Who, MASH, The Prisoner, Moonlighting, Cheers, Porridge, Thunderbirds to name but a few. We hope to put a podcast up every two weeks and we will do specials as well as our standard episodes.
So we have 4 episodes up at the moment, a Test podcast, a tribute to Oliver Postgate, a Preview Episode and our new first full length episode ( Today, just gone up ) with my co host Kelly and we talk about the great Patrick McGoohan. We did this episode using skype but future ones we will be together in the "studio".
So please check us out, leave comments, feedback etc and please tell your chums.
You can find us at http://waffleon.podbean.com
or simply head over to itunes & type in Waffle On
Hope you like it, and please let me know what you think.

I really enjoyed it Meds.. I really like Kelly, what part of England is he from.. his accent sounds different then yours.
I look forward to your regular shows.
I got all caught up myself. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to Red Dwarf!
/me subscribes this podcast.
Can't wait to hear it Meds!

Thanks for the great comments guys it means a lot. Well both myself and Kell come from Birmingham so we're from the same place. His accent is more natural as i (because of the acting and audio stuff) tend to posh my accent out. If you listen to when we go off tangent our accents do sound familiar. Great question Kenny and Kell says hi. (We went to school, college and now work together.)
Good 'cast. Slightly off-the-wall in places but that's no more than I'd expect from a couple of Brummies :)
I learned something today which is always the measure of a good podcast.
It's all queued up ready Meds, will listen tomorrow on the way to work.
Nice job Meds, great podcast. You can tell you and Kelly go back, you have good chemistry which makes the subject even more interesting. Also I found myself loving the theme tune! Was this written specifically for you or is it part of a larger whole?
Looking forward to more!
Cheers Dan, well the theme tune was done by my mate woody, check his stuff out here http://www.myspace.com/mymatewoody (http://www.myspace.com/mymatewoody) . I gave him a few ideas, such as i want it to sound like Trumpton, no guitars and i want a good bass line that kicks in.

That's interesting because I did think it was from an old TV show at first! Great stuff.
Yes, I made the Trumpton connection early on too. Cool to have your own theme from episode 1 (and even before).
Loved the cast! I really want the Red Dwarf cast now!
Brilliant i hope you like it when you hear it.
Yeah, Me too. I know nothing about Red Dwarf... Looking forward to hearing it. Great cast Meds. :) And I love that theme music. Did someone you know make that for you?
My friend Woody wrote and performed it. I asked him for a theme tune that had essence of old British kids TV and modern bas line. You can find his stuff at http://www.myspace.com/mymatewoody (http://www.myspace.com/mymatewoody)
It's got a 'Lemon Jelly' vibe to it too....
Just subscribed, Meds! Can't wait, I'm a huge Anglophile as you know. Had many Brits as friends in university and dated a lovely bird from Knightsbridge, very posh. :)
Ha ha thanks Bryan. Loved the way you said bird, how very British. Red Dwarf episode will be recorded next week and once we get back online which i'm hoping will be next Thursday at the latest it will go online. Thank you all for the great and encouraging feedback. You all ROCK.
Hi Meds.
Love the latest podcast in my library and It's something I can relate to having grown up in Blighty in the seventies and eighties. I also love the theme tune and I thank you for the little favour you did for me, much appreciated mate.
Just listened to the first episode and it was outstanding! You guys have excellent rapport. Well done, mate!
Thanks Bryan, i'm hoping the next episode will be up by Sunday. Internet all being well.
I listened to a few of the Podcast on your feed so far, great stuff Meds, you have a very natural style for the podcast. Looking forward to your next one.
The next episode of Waffle On will be recorded on Sunday and i'll edit it and hopefully i'll have it on the site by Monday evening. Now as you know i'm currently off line and am using my mobile phone to post this and the off shout but i'm going to upload the new podcast by using my mates computer. Anyway the new episode will be all about the British Sci Fi comedy show Red Dwarf. I'm hoping you'll enjoy it and as always please let me know.
Definitely looking forward to a Red Dwarf talk!
Hope to have you back here soon Meds.
Great news! Really looking forward to the Dwarf show.
Hope all goes well getting back online. BT are such a pain... I'm glad I'm on cable!
Cheers Dan, or should i say Colin Firth ;-). I'm with eclipse as a server but BT messing around. So looking forward to doing Red Dwarf. Have 21 clips which i'm going to have to cut down, but which ones. So funny watching them again.
LOL, thanks for that! :D
BT, yeah 2 weeks to press a few buttons...
I can imagine there are so many funny clips, just remembering it all now. You know, that's the problem with all these great podcast, it makes me want to go back and watch all the shows again! Too many things to watch! :)
That's the result i want for my podcast really. Rico and Jen's podcasts have made me go back and look at old sci fi stuff. You wait till i get to callan and the interceptor. Ha ha.
And you have to include the burning of Listers guitar. And of course the rations that were left to eat. ;D
A wafer biscuit, tin of opened dog food and a pot noodle. Ha ha.
And a tube of Bonjela gum ointment I believe.
I'm going to have to add that clip now. This is hard.
When Waffle On does sci-fi I can see a guest hosted Treks in Sci-Fi coming out of the same session. That way you get to do 2 episodes of Red Dwarf and Rico gets a guest show :)
Well i've not asked Rico yet and i think thats a great idea. my plan for the guest host on waffle on is for that person to know more than me. Then i can let them waffle on their favourite show. I've got a guest host lined up for Dads Army (he does his own podcast on the show). I'd really like Kenny to do a guest host on TNG and i though i may ask (though they'll read this) either Rico or Bryancd to talk about original Trek. After reading things on the shout box about someone trying to out do rico i'm certainly not even going to try. So my plan is for me to ask the guest host questions and give me interesting facts about the show. If anyone wants to jump on waffle on just let me know.
If you ever do a show covering my second favourite show ever (Quantum Leap) then I'd love to do a guest spot.
Nice one Tim. Name checked you twice in this weeks podcast ha ha. New episode devoted to Red Dwarf has been recorded. Took
Over 4 hours to do, all for 94 mins, amazing. Hopefully will have it up on the feed by Monday evening so hope you like it. It was hard to condense 8 series which is 52 episodes into an hour and a half. It's amazing how much you think of extra to say after you've finished.
Outstanding! Looking forward to listening to the podcast tomorrow.

I'd love to hear a Leap podcast!
We do mention quantum on this edition alas we forgot what the characters were called and mess up ha ha. We leave mistake in. Hopefully it will be up tonight if my mates computer can handle the download.

Welcome to the time consuming world of podcasting!
Oh tell me about it Rico. I've always appreciated you're hard work but you do appreciate it a hell of a lot more when you do it your self. My new episode is now going up on Thursday evening or Friday morning because my mates laptop was too slow (or his internet was slow due to time of the day). My internet is promised for thursday so that's when i'll put it up. Hang in there waffle On fans ha ha oh that sounded corny.
Yeah just add in some more hours prepping for the podcast, editing, couple hours updating the web site, etc. and you start to realize it's a lot more than just hitting record in Audacity. ;)
Oh definately. I spent a good 2 hours getting the clips and cutting the odd long pause out. Then writing up just a brief running plan and finally recording it. Because i've no internet i decided to edit it all the clips in as we went along. Luckily for me i keep the mistakes in (unless we swear) as we try to do it as recorded live. I'm shocked though that in total it took 4 hours to record and another 2 to prep. I'm amazed how you do it on your own.
Try doing two. :D Hat's off to you guys. I know exactly what you're talking about. ;)
I'll stick with one thanks Jen. You must have to work so hard to get anomaly and ready room done. Still it's all fun.
The problem is that you're all so good at it that it does sound quite easy. Intellectually, I understand the work required but the results are normally so good that it's easy to forget the effort involved.
Rico's a natural on the broadcast front which is what drew me into podcast listening in the first place but the rest of you are up there too in terms of native ability.
Hats off to you all from a listener!
(BTW what are the chances of so many good podcasters congrgating on one forum?)
I don't think it's an issue of there being so many good podcasters on one forum. It's more that Rico's example and the supportive nature of this little band we have here allows people to try things they likely would never have tried otherwise.
The large proportion of good podcasters on this forum weren't good podcasters when they got here, but they are good podcasters now. :)
Practice makes perfect! The key that most people told me before I started and I tell people now is you need to love what you are talking about to podcast on it. Pick something you know and enjoy a lot. It makes all the hard work not seem that hard. And you need to frankly be a bit obsessed about it to do it steadily week after week.

This is so true. If you love what you are talking about and you live it each day, it comes out. Most people that are successful communicators do just that- love their subject. It allows them to be creative within a plausible and safe, yet sometimes risky, environment. The more I know my subject, the easier it is to talk about it and even add enhancements to the communication. Take parodies for example... the more you know the original song, the more funny it is when producing the parody.
Plus, talking is fun. and sharing with others is a blast! :)
Totally agree. With me i spent an awfull lot of my time watching tv shows and then recreating them outside with friends. Kell who i do the podcast with was one of the kids i went to school with (1985) and attended college with. Our passion was and is good tv. Now for me i adore old tv, so i enjoy talking about it. We waffle on all day about shows and i know other people have the same interest as me so why not share it with them. This forum is so amazingly supporting that you do have more confidence to try things new like the rpg and podcasting. I film and write comedy so i'm used to speaking but i have no airs and graces when it comes to my podcast. You'll hear our normal accents, our mistakes and our local slang terms and the best compliments i've received so far are "you sound like you're two mates sitting in a pub chatting" good that's natural, and "i didn't know about that i'm going to go and watch his show". That's exactly what Rico and Jen gave me, the knowledge of something good to watch on Tv. Now before i run out of room on my phone i'll say this. Without this forum, without the advice i received from Rico & Jen and without the enthusiastic comment i get from my friends here i would not have even started my show. I hope you like the new one when it comes out at the end of the week.

I totally agree with this.. when I came to this forum, podcasting wasn't even on my radar. But after sending a few comments into Treks in Sci Fi and Rico actually playing them I felt like I was part of something and I enjoyed sharing my perspective on the podcast topic. Then Keozen and I started the RPG, I never thought I'd be doing a podcast for it, but when Jen became a co-runner we thought it would be fun to keep folks updated on our RPG game and The Ready Room was born. It's alot of work, but both Jen and I love the rpg and The Ready Room so it's one of those fun jobs.
And Rico is right.. you have to podcast about something you love. After a year of contributing to Treks in Sci Fi I knew I wanted to do a podcast (besides The Ready Room) but picking the topic was very difficult. Just for the fact that there are so many great podcasts already out there about almost all TV/movie/sci fi/fantasy stuff and finding your niche to have a successful podcast takes some time. Rick and I talked about doing a podcast together but we couldn't come up with a concept that we thought would work. Of course Rick now has his own wonderful podcast Take Him With you.. and I finally figure out what was lacking in the podcast world a podcast about the fantastic webseries The Guild.. so I created Knights of the Guild.
Podcasting is great fun but it's also lots of work. But with the support of forum friends and fans it makes all the hard work well worth it.
agreed. And seriously, Rico, you have inspired me! Thank you! Thanks to all of you that are so supportive. This is a very cool community! Perhaps we can someday write a web book on Podcasting. The in's and outs? We could each do a chapter, and then collaborate on some others.
While I don't have a podcast of my own, being a member here has definitely inspired me to participate in the Ready Room and be a semi-regular panel member on Republic Forces Radio Network and the Star Wars Action News Book Club podcasts.
I've been a consumer of new media (podcasting etc) since the very early days (I think my first podcast was TWIT before it was called TWIT), but being here has definitely been the main motivating factor to me starting to put myself out there. Who knows, like Kenny, I'd love to do my own show, but I really need to find a topic that is compelling. Until then, I'll happily contribute where I feel I can be useful.
I just wanted to comment and agree with what is being said here. Before I discovered this community it would never occurred to me to send in audio contributions for example or join something like the RPG. Although I'm fairly new to podcasts I have been on the web for many years on various forums in various subjects but none have compelled me as much as TISF to be PART of the community.
Maybe in about 10 years I'll have my own podcast! :biggrin

Thanks Meds, I'd just need to figure out what I'm an expert on... :confused
You guys know tons more than I ever will.
By the way you've got me watching Doctor Who after hearing your podcast! :)
Brilliant. Is this new or old Doctor Who?
Meds, can you see the ratings that we leave you in iTunes? Someone told me that the US and European iTunes stores are different and any ratings you get from outside your country will not display. I've tossed you a 5 star review for Waffle On. Just wanted to make sure you knew that you had some votes up there in the US store. :)
Oh, BTW, thank you for the nice rating you gave us on Podcast Alley. :)
Do I get to be a guest host one day? :blush
As far as I know Jen, all the iTunes stores have their own ratings. If I leave a rating, it goes on the Canadian iTunes store.
Oh brilliant thank you so much Jen. I can't see itunes at the moment as still have no internet so will have a look as soon as i get online. Would be honoured if you would be a guest host. You'll have to think of a tv show shown between 1960 to 1980 that we can waffle on about. :-)

New Who at the moment.
I used to watch old Who years ago (my era was Peter Davidson) and I remember enjoying it. I'll have to see if it is showing on TV anywhere and set it to record.
Different feedback on different iTunes stores? That explains an awful lot as to why I see very little feedback for anyone.
Just to reinforce things Meds, Waffle On does work very well as much because you're being yourselves as anything else. From what you say of your editing philosophy of leaving most stuff in, I think that helps too. Switching to some sort of BBC English from the 1940s would probably kill it.
Can you do a BBC accent?
Ha ha. Yes i can do the BBC Chumley Warner style accent. I think it's important to be yourself. You'll see on the red dwarf episode that we also make two factual mistakes ( Quantum Leap name, Kryten is in series 3 and i keep saying David Frost ) because one we are in flow eg waffling on and two i like the idea that you the listener are joining in and suddenly feel the urge to say oi he was called so and so, this is my preference on how i want my show to sound though. It's a mate to mate style show. New episode (internet connection going live permitting) will be up Thursday night / Friday morning. Fingers crossed.
I like that style a lot. I think the best shows have that kind of dynamic between the co-hosts. It feels like you're sitting around having a drink with your friends just chatting.
WAFFLE ON about RED DWARF
Well the new episode is up and running on our main website http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) and i'm quite proud of it. t has taken ages to get sorted due to having to change the file to a FTP file which was all news to me. Anyway hopefully it will be on itunes by tonight so please check it out and i hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for this thread Rico.
Already on iTunes Meds, it's downloading for me right now.
Brilliant i hope it works ok. It was a good stab in the dark when i was doing this new downloading stuff.
Just finished listening to the Red Dwarf show. Great job Meds, seriously. It was worth the wait. You guys continue to have an amazing dynamic. The production values are high, lots of great clips, it sounds like you guys are on your 30th episode, not your second or third.
Keep it up!
I used to catch Red Dwarf on PBS when it played here but I was young and don't remember much detail aside from the fact I enjoyed it. I'm now motivated to take another look.
Oh and once again, I LOVE your theme song.
Hey thanks mate great coments, cheers. If you want i'll email you the theme song. I've already had one request (he's on here but i'll keep shtummmm) so that he can use it as his mobile phone ring tone. (i've got it as well).
Sure, that'd be awesome.
I can't wait to listen. It's next on my list. :) Have never seen Red Dwarf—I'm interested in learning more. :)
I hope you like it Jen, i'm really enjoying this podcasting lark. Joe i've sent you the file via yousendit.com
Yeah! :biggrin
Just got in, better check itunes has snagged it...
Checking out the Red Dwarf podcast at this very moment. :)
Halfway through here. It's a 'good read' and brings back a lot of memories and gives a good stack of facts on top.
I'd forgotten about the Hammond Organ rendition of the theme that they threw into one episode but I remember when it was broadcast. For some reason that really threw me at the time - I absolutely loved it as an idea.
Right. Got to listen to the rest now.
Hey meds, I tossed a review on iTunes for you.
Thanks mate much appreciated.
I really like your podcast Meds. I have to admit, that you make me listen very closely. After I get used to your accent I really enjoy what you guys say. It's intelligent and fun at the same time. You can tell that you guys are used to comedy, and you play well off of each other. I like the clips that you play and all the levels sound great. Thank you for all that you are doing. I love hearing different perspectives. I learn a lot listening to you and Rico.

can't wait for more!
Wow thanks Rick that means a lot and thanks Dan. Monty Python episode being recorded on Sunday. Loving your podcast Rick. Will post in your thread tonight. One thing i should point out my podcast is nothing to do with any website using my waffle On name unless it's at podbean. There are always going to be websites that sound familiar to your own & i wish i got waffleOn.co.uk before these other chaps but hey ho. Anyway i'd appreciate it if you could pass the link http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) to your friends if you think they'd be interested. Thanks for all your support.
Meds, can you send me a promo for your show? I'm recording tomorrow.. do you have a waffle on generic mp3 promo?
I tend to record special one's that mention the podcast the promo is going to so i'll record you a special one. Thanks Rick, feel free to send me yours.
Waffle On about Monty Python will be up in the feed on Friday. Hope everyone will enjoy it. Its a long one.
Yay! I was wondering when we'd get to hear some more waffling on.
Aiming to put a new episode up every three weeks. I would love to put one up every two weeks but as they are at an average of 90 mins long i thought it best to have a good gap. Mind you the Python episode is just under 2 hours long.
Ouch that's a long time. Should be fun though.
Have you got a running order of what episode is next? (It may be earlier in this thread I guess, I'll look in a mo) There's a couple of things I really ought to get comments in on if they come up.
I have a rough plan. Here it is.
Monty Python (recorded)
Porridge
Steptoe and Son
The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.
Quatermass
Callan
Doctor Who
The Muppets (and Jim Henson)
Whats wrong with British TV
Not necessarily in that order.
Hitch Hikera Guide has always been my pet topic. I'm not as acquainted with it as I used to be but I'm sure I may be able to contribute something.
Send us an mp3 then Mike. You have my email or send it to waffleonpodcast@googlemail.com .
Awesome! New Waffle On for when I get back!
Looking forward to it Meds.
I told everybody on Take Him With You that you were covering Monty Python. :) WOO HOO!
When I was in the Air Cadets back when I was 17 we did the whole "Camp it up" bit in full uniform:

WAFFLE ON about MONTY PYTHONS FLYING CIRCUS
Hi gang well we've put a new episode up all about Monty Pythons Flying Circus. Its packed with sketches and of course us two waffling on about this great show. Hope you like it.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com)
Can't wait to hear it Meds! :)
I know what I'll be walking to work listening to. Mind you, it's only a half hour walk and the files very big. Will I have to go the long way round?
Listening now, just got to the lumberjack sketch. Thanks for the call out Meds :)
The trees in British Columbia ARE quite impressive! I have two friends that are mounties.
I'm a quarter of the way done and laughing! Dude, seriously, this is awesome! Don't ever stop being you!
All done listening. GREAT SHOW! I really enjoyed it.
Little something I want to clarify. When you guys refer to a "series" like "series 1", is that the same as a season, or does it indicate something else?
Yeah a British 'series' as in 'series 1' is the equivalent of the US 'season' but 'series' used on it's own can just refer to a TV show in it's entirety! Very confusing for those outside the UK... :wacko
Yeah thanls for clearing that up Dan. We say series and you guys say seasons, but as Dan says sometimes we'll say thats a great series and we mean the actual show. The person that Palin and Cleese had the televised confrontation with was Malcolm Muggeridge. You can see that on youtube. Thanks for the compliments guys.
On a side note, I think I should get this shirt.
http://www.jinx.com/men/shirts/geek/im_a_lumberjack_and_im_ok.html?catid=2&cs=2&csd=2 (http://www.jinx.com/men/shirts/geek/im_a_lumberjack_and_im_ok.html?catid=2&cs=2&csd=2)
Ha ha brilliant you MUST get that and then put the photo up here.
LOVED the Monty Python episode! Left a glowing review in iTunes, mate!
That was good fun.
My first download was only 1 hour long though. Wherever the error was, it cut in very well and I didn't notice! I just wondered why it cut from a brief bio of Chapman to series 2.
I did redownload and get the rest.
My oddest Python experience involved sitting in a hotel in Munich (Germany) and turning on the TV to find the whole political episode showing. Sitting in Germany watching Mr Hilter standing in the Minehead by-election was an almost surreal experience.
Really digging your podcast, Meds. GREAT JOB! :) By the way, is the intro music the Lemon Jelly Ducks song?
Cheers Eric really appreciate your comments. No the theme tune is actually one i had made. Its by my mate Simon Wood and i asked him for a theme tune that had a good bass line but had elements of a 60's children's TV show called trumpton. I've got several versions of it. the main theme which is at the beginning is the 16bit version, i have a dub version which i use a background stuff for comments and promos and a shorter version for end credits if i put them in. A bit of trivia its me in the song when you hear the words waffle on.
I enjoyed your Monty Python episode, Meds. You guys had A LOT of information to offer with regards to the Pythons. :) Stuff I didn't know. I always wondered why there were hardly any women in the Flying Circus. Great episode!
Mini Waffle Episode One
Following on from Kenny and Ricks example of throwing out the odd mini cast we've just released a Mini Waffle episode which gives you a list of TV shows we are going to cover and some news on the structure of the show. The next full episode goes up on Monday and is all about the BBC comedy show Porridge. Remember if you want a promo, advert or simply want to send a audio comment to us then email us at waffleonpodcast@googlemail.com.

You know Meds, I was going to say that the ONLY thing wrong with Waffle On is that there isn't enough of them! This is great news.
Hey thanks Dan. much appreciated. We'd love to release an episode every fortnight, or like Rico and Rick every week but i simply do not have the time. I could do like a few podcasts do and have a weekend where we record a whole batch of podcasts and then release them slowly but we like the idea of coming off live (ish). I'm recording Porridge on MOnday evening and then will release it the same night.

New Waffle On episode is up at the main web page http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) or head over to itunes and find us there. We talk about the classic 1970's Brit comedy Porridge which is set in a prison. Hope you enjoy it.
I've downloaded and will be listening shortly!! WOO HOOOOO!
I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed your last episode of Waffle On. Meds, you guys are very enjoyable to listen too. Thanks. You recorded a new one recently?
Planned for tonight I believe.
Hi waffle On fans ha ha. well we have put up a Mini waffle up (episode 2) to let you know what's going on in our lives. Yes Mike is right we were planning on recording tonight (and thanks for your mp3 Mike) but Kell has lost one of his front teeth today (false one fell out) and he's got the most obvious lisp its unbelievable so he is getting it sorted tomorrow so we'll record and put it out on Monday evening.
Its all about the state of British TV so if anyone is wanting to send their opinions on what you think of modern Brit TV compared to the old stuff you still have time to send me your comments and I'll play/read them out.
Should I worry that I apparently provoked fits of giggling in the centre of England? I hope of wasn't my accent :( ;)
New episode is up and it's all about the state of British Tv. Thanks go to Mike and Tim for their audio comments. And Mike is wasn't your accent, kell just cried with laughter purely because you sent in a comment saying you couldn't add a comment because you don't watch anything. Brilliant. Thanks again to both of you. Hope you enjoy the show it's a rambling episode as we's still tired from last nights Specials concert.
Whoo hooo.. downloading now.
Fun stuff so far.. love listening to you guys banter back and forth.. BTW you need to get a picture of you and Kel up on your website...
Meds I loved the show, but I would like to point out one thing that you might have missed. You might think that your tv is rubbish and TV from the states is great, but we have the same problem that you do with a lot of crap on TV. You get to benefit from our hundreds of channels and the cream of those channels.
Did you forget about Rome? That was solid TV from a joint venture. I think that most of the Joint ventures that we have with the BBC produces outstanding television, but you don't have to see our low programing like Who wants to marry a millionair or Farmer finds a wife, or ... well you get the point. I'm enjoying a lot of British TV, but then again, I think it's because we're getting the cream on this end.
I'm really liking Primeval series 3. The first series has just recently hit the sci-fi channel. I loved Being Human! Jeckyll is supposed to be good right?
I think that your side of the pond has some fantastic hits, but you have to also look at the not so good stuff before you get to it.
Looking forward to listening Meds!
I was meaning to send in a comment but I wasn't very well last week so I tried to keep my recordings to minimum (ie the Ready Room).
I WILL get you a comment in soon Sir, as I love the show! ;D
We're having a photo taken next week i think which should be fun, and please Dan any comments are always welcome anytime, thanks again to Mike and Tim. Chris you know we did forget about Rome, i also accidentally cut out a email from one of my best mate's Pete (we had a rant about Robin Hood but it went way off tangent) which i'm a bit annoyed at so will be putting that in the next show. Thanks for listening everyone.
So I'm depressed now???
OK, I understand the laughter but you did get my point :)
To be fair, I'd forgotten Survivors and I did watch it but I don't know that I'd put it up on a par with some of the imports.
The watering down/PC elements of TV these days does play a part in what's gone on recently in this country. The number of things that we've recently discussed at work where the conversation ended with "...but you wouldn't be able to make that these days." is very high.
Yup, totally got your point. In fact if anything your point sums up how bad Brit TV exactly. My friend Kerry doesnt even own a TV because she knows there is simply nothing worth watching. I think Kell automatically assumed you sounded depressed (in a jokey way) because 'of your wife's period drama's' (the same here Natalie loves the damn programmes)
I hope you'll send in a comment regarding Auf Weidersein Pet because i'm guessing you would have loved that.
I'm enjoying this podcast as I am only 20 minutes in. Awesome, and very fun.
I listened to about fifteen minutes of the new podcast on my way into class this morning. Really like what you guys talk about, not just this episode, but I love listening. Thanks Meds for the great show.
Indeed, you guys crack me up.
Loved the new show on the state, or lack there of, of British TV! I'm not sure how, but you guy's made me interested in a subject I know nothing about! :)
Wow, well thanks everyone for your very supportive comments and Bryan thats great. We were a bit worried that we waffled on a bit too much really as we couldnt remember what we had said ha ha. Thanks again.
Great episode Meds! You guys were spot on about the state of TV in the UK at the moment. Really enjoyed the debate and I think the shows are getting better every time.
Well done.
This photo was posted on the Trek spoilers page but i thought it would be good to put here as well.
Here are the Waffle On boys heading to see Trek. We're having an official photo done in the next two weeks, we're at work here the official photo will have us looking a bit daper.
You know Meds, Kell looks very familar to me... Maybe he just has one of those faces?
New mini Waffle On is up in the feed now, just a hello and what we are going to be talking about next which is all about political satire. How topical. :)
YAY MORE WAFFLES!
New episode being recorded tonight. It's all about political satire and should be up on the feed by Wednesday evening. :-)

Yes...Minister. ;)
All recorded. We went outside waffle on HQ and had an extra host with us and it went great. Just got to put the music on the beginning and the promos on the end and i will put it up tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy it.
WAFFLE ON ABOUT POLITICAL SATIRE ON BRITISH TV
Welcome to another edition of Waffle ON. On this episode Meds and Kell are joined by Pete Coleman and they discuss programmes with a political satire link. We discuss That Was The Week That Was, Frost, Report, Python, Yes Minister, The Day Today, Brass Eye, The thick of It and a few more.
Politics never had it so good.
Hope you like it, feedback always welcome.
I have downloaded it and will listen as time permits! WOO HOO!
Brilliant show Meds! Loved "The Young One's" being included. "I'm very very sober and very very bored!" ;)
Loved the show Meds! It rocked.
Yes. Really good. Some of this stuff I haven't actually seen and some of it I wasn't allowed to see but the coverage was good.
Loved Yes Minister and it seems particularly relevant again now
Thanks everyone. Yes Minister is just pure gold and when you think about it The Thick Of It is a new version of that. the Day Today really made me want to write comedy in the style that i do.
I enjoyed the cast Meds. It was nice to have your co-hosts. You guys have such a blast talking and it shows. Entertaining, informative and very creative. I have to rewind a few times to catch some of what you are saying, but I LOVE IT!
Thank you. Give my regards to your co-hosts too.
I will do and thank you Rick. Myself and Kelly come from a part of our country that tends to speak quite quickly and the amount of time i spend doing the slow down signal is ridiculous ha ha. We're thinking of doing a live video show somewhere along the line, that'll be chaotic.
Great show Meds. Really enjoyed it.
Yes, although in true Sesame Street style we ought to point out that:
(sings)
'One of these voices is not like the other ones,
One of these men is not suite the same'
You have an inconsistency of accent on the show now :)
Three accents on one show Mike. One from Liverpool, One from Solihull the other from Birmingham. A mixture that makes a good cake.
I do so like Cake. With chocolate frosting. mmmm.
Mmm...accent cake.
stop it, you are making me hungry. :)
Accent cake, knowlede of realism, spoonersims, attitude and love.
New mini waffle will be up on Monday and it's all about other podcasts i listen to so i have all your promo's bar tim's new one and Jeff's so guys if you want a some advertising send me a mp3 oh and Rico same to you i don't have yours. New Dr Who or ALL Dr Who (just making some notes of what I'd say - how much air time have you got for contributions ;) )
Mike it will be about all Doctor Who, (we're breaking the rule for this time because we dont go into tv after 1999 but as Dr Who is so important to Brit TV we'll be doing the whole thing. We are now recording Tuesday so get your comments by Monday Evening or at least before 7pm Tuesday. If we get time we're going to record a show on Oliver Postgate as well.
Ah yes, of course. I was forgetting the standard date criteria you apply. The question should have been OLD or all.
Anyway, most of my comment (if I get to record it) will be what I remember from growing up but I will refernece the new stuff too I'm comparison.
I'll be interested to see how you get David Frost into this episode. :)
Sent in my Who comment last night. Hope it gets there!
Brilliant thanks Mike.
nice mini waffle. Can't wait for the next full sized waffle with strawberries and whipped cream.
Just a quick reminder, new episode being recorded tomorrow and it's all about Dr Who. I've got some great comments already thanks mike and M5 if anyone wants to throw something in please do. We record tomorrow i'm lookin at you Kenny & KC lol.
Waffle On about Doctor Who
Hello all,
New episode of Waffle On is up on the web site (
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) ) and its all about Doctor Who. On this
episode we are joined by Phil hayes who's passion for Doctor Who is
HUGE. The show is a long one but well worth it, you cant rush 46
years of television gold. Thanks to Mike Featherstone ( Kell loves
Mike )and Mark Daniels for their comments
We've now set up a facebook account so head over to facebook and type
in waffle on podcast in the search bar and join our group. As usual
please spread the word and bring us more listeners (more...more...)
Cheers.
Meds and Kell
This is the Waffle On I've been waiting for. :) You obviously know a lot about Dr. Who, and I've been meaning to learn more about the franchise. I look forward to checking out your podcast!
-Eric
I wish I could have commented on it. Summer school's been keeping me way busy, and it's only started. Excited for the podcast, though. :)
Thanks Meds, Kell and Guest for that great podcast. Two hours is not nearly long enough for Dr. Who. I would have listened for two hours. Your podcast has inspired me to look for a copy of Silver Nemesis. Thanks again for the great podcast.
Looking forward to this one. My Doctor Who knowledge is severely limited!
Kell loves me...'nuff said!
Don't tell me I sounded depressed again!
Kell doesn't hear the comments until the i edit them in. Great comment mike in fact like the David frost thing we'd love it if you'd comment on as many of our shows as possible. I'll email you future shows to give you a head start. :-)
Great show, learned some very interesting facts.
Oh and I vote for getting Mike on Skype for a show, I think he could give you and Kell a run for your money!
What did I do???
(Still got 30 minutes left to listen to - I've already been listening for hours...)
Great discussion so far - it reminds me of the sorts of things I was saying but I haven't heard that yet. I'm looking forward to the bit on the new series which was just beginning when I had to stop.
I play your clip at the end because i really didnt want to stop the flow of the conversation. when i played it i though blimey Mikes virtually just said exactly what we have been saying. You come across as a big who fan. Nice one. So we're wanting a comment off you in every podcast from now on ha ha
Just listened to the end and I think you were right to leave it. One of the things that struck me after about 1:15 was that I realised I'd spent over an hour being thouroughly engaged by three blokes talking. No clips. No music. Just talk.
It was quite surprising but when the conversation flows that naturally I guess there's no reason it shouldn't make good listenening :)
(and if you thought that made me sound like a fan, I have another little audio project on the go that will make me sound even more fannish.)
Sound cool Mike whats going on.
That would be telling...;)
...and it would be off topic for this thread :D
Meds awesome show and Mike good work mate
Gee whiz, I have it downloaded and I can't wait to listen!!!!! woo hooooo!
Make sure you have pleeeenty of time!
(Or just skip to the last five minutes which is a good bit and has me in it ;) )
heheheehe
Rick get ready for 1 hour 58 min's of awesome
I can easily edit you out Mike. ;-)
Great podcast once again. I had to really concentrate though. If I ever make it across the pond I do believe after listening to your shows, that I could possible keep up at the pub during the conversation. Can't wait!
Oh mate, we speak even quicker in the pub, waffle waffle waffle ha ha. Thank you all for your kind comments.

I enjoyed the podcast Meds... One of these days I'm going to watch Dr. Who and it will be because of you, KC and Kenny. LOL. I just have to find the time and actually watch one! :D
I think you will really like it Jen, though if you have never seen any please do watch the very first episode ever mad, head here
http://www.treksinscifi.com/forum/index.php?topic=4909.msg47822#msg47822 (http://www.treksinscifi.com/forum/index.php?topic=4909.msg47822#msg47822)
and watch the pilot (they remade it with just minor changes). Its called an unearthly child and from 1963. it has a unique quality and a beautifull charm. If you watch a new episode and then watch an old one i think it will spoil how good this first episode is.
:)
I've been scouring the channel guides but I can't seem to find a UK channel that broadcasts 'classic' Who! What a discgrace! I was hoping to set my Media Center to 'record series'....
Yeah its pretty rubbish here for classic Who. Uk gold used to play them. I'm slowly building my collection of classic who, DVD's are aroun ÂŁ7
Nice work, Meds. Thoroughly enjoyed the new ep. Almost too much information to process.
Now, I'm going to have to try and find some of the old ones that I have never seen.
Drew
Drew you can get some classic Doctor Who DVD's for around $20 which i'm quite suprised at how much they are. Here they are around ÂŁ6.99 which is about $12 so its quite expensive really. If you want more info i've donw a Dr Who early years page here on the forums head to http://www.treksinscifi.com/forum/index.php?topic=4909.0 (http://www.treksinscifi.com/forum/index.php?topic=4909.0) and have alook there.
I still can't understand why a British Institution that is Classic Doctor Who is not being played all over British TV, at least on one of the 'classic TV' sat or cable channels.
Maybe we should start a petition! ;D
You know what i would like to see mate, is classic Dr Who on at 6pm on BBC2. How good would that be.
WAFFLE ON ABOUT STAR WARS IN THE SHADOWS & JOHN RYAN
There is a small 15 min epsode of waffle On now up and i talk about a great new audio drama called Star wars In the Shadows, i urge you all to go and hear it when it comes out not only because it sounds awesome but because Jen and myself are in it.
head to www.creativeaudioscape.com (http://www.creativeaudioscape.com) for more info.
I also talk about John Ryan who passed away on the 22nd. he was the creator of Captain Pugwash a great childrens show back in the 50's and 70's.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com)
I have downloaded and will consume today. :)
Captain Pugwash? Do you play the music? I can still remember that from my childhood. Must download!
Yes i play the music at the end. :)
Great! A well deserved tribute.
Cheers Mike :)
WAFFLE ON ABOUT GERRY ANDERSON
Its the middle of the month and that means a new epsidoe of Waffle On is up in the feed. Its all about Gerry Anderson the chap behind the Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet, Space 1999 and Terrorhawks. Hope you like it.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com)
Awesome!
Yahoo! I've been waiting for this podcast! I can't wait to listen to it at work tomorrow.
Got it on the iPhone - hopefully get to it today.
Mike, we tell you off in this podcast. Kell is most upset that you have failed to send in any more comments. You are meant to be our number one comment sender ;)

Yes, I noticed :). I could have said how I loved Space 1999 and sneered at Terrahawks (or whatever it was) and would also have sent a Fawlty Towers comment in this week too (with a little more notice) but I'm obviously slacking.
'Slackerrrrrrrrr' Comments on Get Carter, Blackadder2, Quatermass and Vic Reeves would be welcome.
Waffle On about Fawlty Towers
Hi all a new Waffle On is up and it is all about the classic ritish comedy Fawlty Towers starring the brilliant John Cleese.
Hope you like it, feedback as usual always welcome.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com).
Cheers.
Hang on, Fawlty Towers wasn't even on the upcoming list last time I looked!
Yeah it was a suprise. We recorded this along with another episode a while ago because i know i'd be busy. ;)
Nice one! I love Fawlty Towers.
Meds, are you taking suggestions for future casts? If so:
Keeping Up Appearances
Are you being served?
Waiting For God
Vicar of Dibley
East Enders
Rising Damp
Benny Hill
Kenny Everette Video Show (used to watch this in late 70's in the US....loved the dancers!)
Grrr! Trying to listen to it, but I keep getting interrupted.
One BBC show I realized that I miss recently is May to December... would love to see that one again now that I'm old enough to put into better context than I could the first time 'round.
~katzekitty
Some great suggestions there. Yes we do take requests and suggestions and we'll make a note of both of your shows. Kenny Everett is a kell favorite. May to December wow i'd forgotten about that. I will say the next episode to go up is about Auf Weidersein Pet (i know I've spelt that wrong but it will be right on the night) & next to be recorded are a Get Carter special, Childrens tv shows of the 1970's (this will be the Christmas show and may be recorded at a small party), Rentaghost, Blackadder 2, Whatever happened to the Likely Lads, Dads Army with i'm hoping a guest interview. This is not set in stone but we will record them. Please do keep sending in requests.

Love Dads Army! Young Mr. Grace from Are You Being Served was in that one as well. Great stuff.
Oh this is awesome Meds. You and Kell are in rare form! Very fun!
Cheers Rick :)
Loved the Fawlty Towers episode. This show always reminds me of British Bars in Spanish holiday resorts. If it wasn't this playing, it was Freddy Starr stand up!
Idea for a future show. Kids quiz and game shows. I'm thinking of everything from Blockbusters to CrackerJack to Knightmare and, of course! The Adventure Game
The Adventure Game - The Vortex (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HLX2weZfkA#)
BTW. We're actually about the same age. I think thats why I'm loving the show so much!! :)
I'll email soon. It has to be a ScutterCast "podcast of the week"
Hey thanks mate a mention on the scuttercast would be awesome..
Yeah i noticed we are the same age so that means you may get excited by hearing the theme tune to wizbit when everyone else will be saying what the hell is this ha ha. the Adventure game is so on our list and Knightmare, i really wanted to be on that show, same with the Crystal maze. I remember a cartoon when i was younger, it had aliens that were dressed in big helmets and there was this one alien who iseem to remember was in white and his master would say something like "you are the lowest of the low" for the life of me i cannot remember what it was called.
Is this it? Robo Story?
Robostory: Echowar (Part 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaKx311Zdls#)
Also, not really suitable for a show, but do you remember this?
Telebugs 01 - Angel Brain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aMAYcwJkgo#)
Oh my god, OH MY GOD YOU are a star i have been searching for that for years, YEARS. You my friend are getting a podcast dedicated to you when we next record. :)
OK. I'm obviously too old for these.
And telebugs, oh wow i'm back in 80's heaven.
Glad to be of help. I can see that I'm gonna have to do a search of some of my favourites from childhood and post up, see if they ring as true for you guys. Remember Star Fleet.....with Brian May doing the theme music

[on topic]
Meds, have you recorded the Blackadder II Waffle yet?
[/on topic] ;)
Not yet mate will be recording that in January so plenty of time for comment offerings. :-D will be producing a recording list later though this will not be broadcast list.
Waffle On about Auf Wiedersehen, Pet
On this months episode Meds and Kell talk about the classic comedy drama Auf Wiederdehen, Pet. Created by Franc Roddam and written by the brilliant Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais it ran from 1983 to 1986 and then from 2004 to 2008. Introducing such actors as Tim Healy, Timothy Spall, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Pat Roach, Christopher Hairbank, Gary Holton and later Noel Clarke to the screens all of these actors have gone to higher things, except Gary, sadly he died during filming of the second series.
The basics of Pet are a group of our of work builders head to Germany to seek work, here we see them get into all kind of situations some good, and many involving the character of Oz brilliantly played by the awesome Jimmy Nail. There was only four series of Auf Wiederdehen, Pet and because of the sad loss of Pat Roach i very much doubt we will see these characters on our television screens again.
Enjoy.
We'd just like to thank Arthur Vasey Robbo1510, Eamon, Dangelus and Crystal who both sent us nice comments over the past months. And a big shout out to Rick Moyer, and Peter Foltz who all contributed to Waffle On, we shall shout you on our next recording.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com)
Love that show! I had forgotten about it. Another 'request' just came to mind as well. One of my favorite shoes from the UK in the early 80's was the whole 'Rumpole' series with Leo McKern (nice to see where he went after his breakdown from the Village). The show inspired me to read the books. If memory serves, the author John Mortimer is recently deceased.
We have recorded our next episode on Rentaghost. It's not edited yet so if anyone wants to send a mp3 or email about this classic series please send them in. Looking at you Antony, Tim, Mike, Dan and Brompty. Lol
Waffle On about Rentaghost
Rentaghost was a classic British children's television comedy show produced and broadcast by the BBC between 6 January 1976 and 11 June 1984. The shows plot centred on the antics of a number of ghosts who worked for a firm called Rentaghost, which rented out the ghosts for various tasks.
Join Meds and kell as they waffle on about this classic TV show, its almost been forgotten except from those kids born in the late sixties to the early seventies. Its a great concept for a show and when you look back at it the word fun comes to mind. Although we do not say it at the beginning we do have comments aboutRentaghost and many thanks to Daniel Vieira, Tim Morris and Mike Featherstone.
There is also a competition on this episode, yes good people. If you would like to win a CD called Stargazer (ambient music to chill out and watch the stars go by) by the wonderful Rick Moyer then please answer the question that we ask and send your answer to waffleonpodcast@googlemail.com and you could win a great free cd.
Usual promos are played at the end plus a secret (doh! told you) Easter Egg promo for Anomaly. :)
Enjoy

76 to 84???
And there's me thinking there were oy two series! Oh well, my comment was rubbish then! :)
Any comment is a good comment Mike, Waffle On is not about getting everything right its about having a conversation. :)
Good podcast, it brought back a lot of memories which surprised me.
Interesting that we all remember the music. It was obviously a key feature of the show.
I'm staggered that it ran for nine years though. I think I must have enjoyed the original series and then faded out after the cast change occurred and so missed the follow on stuff. I have only vague memories of the horse for example.
I was also saddened to note that I'm the only one who remembered the first series. What does that say about my age? ;) Plus, I thought Davenport was brilliant. Still, it was a show about ghosts so I'm not sure why death would have stopped him returning :D
LOVED this epsiode! Memories hey? More like a lack of! You got it just right when you said you remembered the show, but non of the storylines! That was one of the reasons I couldn't do a comment. Biggest shock....9 years!!!???!!! I would never have thought that.
I have a vague memory of there being a cast change, but can only remember the secondary list of characters. One memory I do have that wasn't mentioned was to do with Claypole. Didn't he have a mini head of himself on a stick that used to crack jokes and such?
Apart from that, I recalled everything you said...but not until you said it. Apart from the theme music. Reminded me of a cross between the Chortle and the Wheelies theme and The Goodies...
Yes! The head on a stick! I'm sure I remember that too although it could just be because you mention it :)
and as for not commenting because you remember nothing...Kell loves comments from people who have nothing to say :)
I can't get the theme tune out of my head, been the same all day after listening!
Great show as usual. :)
Everyone loves the theme tune lol. Hope i pronounced your surname right mate, sorry if i got it wrong. :)

Sounded about right to me!
Just like the footballer but he's no relation. ;)
Loved the YouTube link someone (cosmonaut) found for the first episode. The guy I couldn't remember in my comment was obviously the one who'd only just died. All I could think of was the silly witch but I knew she was only series two onwards.
Oh, I also forgot to say that I wasn't sure about the 'Waffle on about Mike' segment ;). Is that going to be a regular? Actually, I think you gave out enough information in that show for anyone with access to directory enquiries to find me. :(
I was in luck someone made the effort to put it on youtube. Never seen the show, so it was great to have a look.
The pilot:
Rentaghost 1 of 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK66hHbwj1c#)
And I have seen the witch, but didn't like the episode (s4e1):
Rentaghost S04E01 Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j1kpqbANkY#)
I still have trouble understanding Meds&Kell, pretty fast and the dialect is a bit too much for me! :)
But don't worry, I'm getting there!
Finally finished your episode Mr. Meds. EXCELLENT! I had never heard of this before, and now I am well educated. :) Nice contest by the way, I wonder if folks will participate? I am curious now. :)
Anyway, keep up the brilliant shows. VERY NICE!
Suggestion for a future show.
How about an episode that covers a selection of kids shows that don't warrant having a full Waffle On thier own. I'm thinking along the lines of.....
Chorlton and the Wheelies Intro Theme - 80scartoons.co.uk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_isj1c3mag#)
Jamie And The Magic Torch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B_FQKHQDYk#)
Look And Read Titles & Credits - The Boy From Space (1980) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6iKJD_mxeg#) Look and Read: Dark Towers (1 of 10) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmFcfdqKWQY#)
Heads and Tails (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym0lCDkVwig#)
I'd LOVE this kind of episode....I could be bias though as, being about the same age as yourselves, this would just be a self fullfilling trip of nostalgia! :)
Hmmm. That would make me too old for that episode then! Don't ask for my list of little viewed shows...before your time mate ;)
Antony we're doing just that. We talked about it at the nec earlier and to add to your list Mr Ben, Cosgrove Hall eg Danger Mouse and classic foreign kids stuff likevthe boy who lost his smile. Antony fancy doing a mp3 for us on one of your suggestions ;)
Mr Benn? Now you're in my era!
A chance to revisit Feative Road. Lovely.
Mike would you like to do a comment on Mr Ben ?
Is this the next waffle?
No but you can do it and I'll keep it safe. Next waffle is a Christmas special all about old Christmas TV. Next is Blackadder 2.
Yes, Rowan Atkinson!
His Mr. Bean was quite popular, even my English teacher mentioned it and described the episode where he bought the pan and brought the fish.
Lots of scenes that are very vivid in my memory.
Black Adder was on TV, too, I think it profited from Bean. Would be nice to have in on DVD, I would watch it right now.
Looking forward to your podcast!
Curious what will come up in Christmas TV. Did you have shows produced for this season or will it be the movies that run on TV around this time?
I'm actually off work for a few days from Tuesday onwards and am hoping to get a few MP3's done for podcasts I listen to.(provided Mrs Studfarm hasn't already filled my week up with chores that is! :) )
Remind me on Twitter next week if you see me wasting time tweeting, cheers :)
Actually, Dangelus reminded me of the Heads And Tales singing chaps name tonight. Derek Grifiths and I started searching Wiki and IMDB etc. I used to love him....him and Johnny Morris!
Derek Grifiths probably could warrant a whole episode...
You see what you do to me....now I'm thinking how much I loved Johnny Morris on Animal Magic. What did I do before Waffle On!!?? :)
We have special Christmas episodes, and of late they are rubbish as years ago Christmas day tv was awesome. Plus this episode of waffle on will be done at a party so expect slurring :)
oh Derek Griffith and you know who else is awesome. The one and only Brian Cant. Top bloke.
Brian Cant! Now you're talking! :)
Meds! I just recalled another one for the lists:
What would a review of vintage britcoms be without --- Alf Garnett! Till Death Us Do Part
We are going to do a show on programmes that couldn't be made today and both Alf Garnett programmes will be mentioned.
I think after what Antony said I will put up a podcast schedule. :) keep requests coming.

An American knock-off of Alf was in 'All In The Family' - which was a huge show in the states from 1971 to the late 70's early 80's. "Archie Bunker" was our version of Alf. You couldn't get away with today what he did on that show.
Yes and the thing is it was so well written that you knew the bad guy was Alf. As Warren Mitchell said it's the racist idiots that the show pokes fun at.
Thats what I can't understand about great comedies like "Love Thy Neighbour". They won't re-show it because of the racist dialogue and comments...however, the only racist and bigotted comments come from the character that is the subject of ALL the ridicule! This show does more to combat racism than anything else that currently springs to mind.....
...and I include Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney's "Ebony and Ivory" song...... :)
ps. It was Paul McCartney, wasn't it!??!!

Waffle On Christmas Special.
Hello and Merry Christmas to you all. Its Christmas time and why not settle back and enjoy our Christmas special. On this show Meds talks with Woody (Simon Wood), Ray (David Ray) and Chris (Chris Powell) all about television ad films shown on British television. Obviously because we are enjoying beers and mince pies the whole show goes off on a complete waffle. We've carefully edited any swear words but please note we do waffle on pretty quickly.
We also announce our competition winner. Last episode we asked what was Meds and kells combined weight, well the answer was 164kgs and our winner, Katrin from Berlin gave her answer as 163.67kgs so pretty darn close.
Massive thanks to Woody, Chris and Ray for joining me. Big thanks also go to Rick Moyer for giving us his excellent CD for the competition.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM WAFFLE ON

I suppose (to be fair to Kell) US humour carries OK over here but I stand by my assertion that it's a rare bit of British humour that works well in the States.
It could be carried by an African swallow!

I am not so sure - as from where I stand many Britcoms are hugely popular. The old standbys are shown regularly on local TV - Benny Hill, Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By, Waiting for God, Are You Being Served?, Last of the Summer wine - and one of my favorites - Coupling (which is derisively known as 'Sein-Friends' - I don't mind the US inspiration on that show since we have commandeered so many UK show ideas).
That being said, a few of my work colleagues say they have trouble understanding the various accents. Fortunately I don't share that problem, so I can enjoy much of the first rate programming. ((Although you can keep 'How Clean Is Your House' & 'You Are What You Eat'....)) ;)
ARE YOU FRACKIN' KIDDING ME?!!!!!!! Almost 2 hours of Waffle/Jen and Angela Monty Python for my 64 mile bike in the morning?! I shall sleep a content man tonight in anticipation....
Bryan you always make me smile. Just don't fall off your bike when the French taunters come on lol.

What a great set of podcasts! Oh my. There are times when I laughed so hard that I was in danger of peeing my pants. This is good and bad at the same time. The comments were AWESOME! When Tim and Boz started talking I was in real trouble! :) FANTASTIC!
This was all I hoped for and more THANK YOU! Love the Black Knight/Vader sketch. hehehehee.
I would love more combos like this. Pizza is always better with more toppings.
:)
AWESOME!
We do have another one planned, in fact i think we may have two but you will have to wait and see what we come up with lol. Ok so one ismentioned at the end and the second was hinted at :D
I heard that. I must encourage it as it was top notch entertainment!
Waffle On about The Leaders Debate.
A slight change here for Waffle On. In this special waffle we talk about the historical political leaders debate that happened on Thursday 15th April 2010. Normaly we would not do this but we think its a break through in British Television. This is the first time that a debate between the three big political parties has been broadcast live on British TV. Nick Clegg (Liberal), David Cameron (Conservative) and Gordon Brown (Labour) stand in front of the cameras and take questions form broadcaster Alastair Stewart.
Please note this is by no way a political podcast this is just a show about the importance of such a historical moment for British TV. We play some brand new promos at the end so please do listen to them.

Hmmm..in keeping with pre-90's themes...are we waxing nostalgic about Maggie on this one Brother Meds? ;) (or indignant perhaps)
Lol no. But we felt it was a important event in British television history. We do this when a prominent actor or writer dies so we thought it important enough to do a show on it. Don't worry back to pre 1999 next week.
Loved this episode...even though I missed the debate!!
Looking forward to the TNG one though. This is my least favourite incarnation of Star Trek. Nothing really against it, just that I grew up watching TOS. I had problems at home when TNG was broadcast and used to spend all my time in the evenings out of the house trying to avoid my step father. It wasn't until Voyager came along that I fell back in love with the Trek universe...but never seemed to get hooked on TNG like I did DS9, Voyager and Enterprise
ps I am making this right by starting on a Trek quest starting with TOS and working through to Enterprise!! I might change my mind.....but looking forward to tongue in cheek criticism that I should watch out for!! :)
Despite my complete lack of knowledge regarding British politics, I quite enjoyed the discussion. Nice work gentlemen!
It was a great episode. Agreed with most of your points regarding the handling of the debate. I felt the Sky one was done much better though.
Thanks Joe, Thankd Dan really appreciate that. I dont have skype sobi had to look at tweets and then read the newspaper in the morning. Kell told me about it yesterday when we were recording. I'm starting to think they should have gad another one with the smaller parties like UKIP, Green and BMP though I'm sure the audience figures wouldn't match it would be good to see their views.
Hey all if you could throw us a review/comment on iTunes that would be great.
I'm editing the spaced episode right now and should be out by Monday.
Just listened to part of it this morning. So different, I'm getting quite the education my friend! THANK YOU!
I love politics in the UK and have followed the scene there for some time. Always fun to watch Q&A of the PM on C-Span. I can still recall when our current VP got into quite a bit of trouble by plagiarizing young Brother Neill Kinnock. Do our UK Brothers & Sisters recall him? :)
Thanks Rick :)
Ah Neil Kinnock, yes I remember him. He turned up on a campaign about 20 years ago to a factory opposite my college and they asked us to hold big cards saying vote Kinnock for the tv cameras. Needless to say when the cameras turned to us we smashed the cards up. Oh what childish fun.
I'm editing the Spaced episode and I'm hoping that will be finished and out on Monday night.
Waffle On about Spaced
On this episode of Waffle On al about the brilliant channel 4 comedy Spaced. Written by Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson the show first aired in 1999 and lasted for only two series. Directed brilliantly by Edgar Wright the series also featured actors such as Nick Frost, Mark Heap, Julia Deakin, Peter Serafinowicz, John Simm and Katy Carmichael. Full of pop culture, film, television and game homages this series is for all true geeks and people with a taste for great comedy.
We also have a small treat for you great listeners, in the form of a easter egg after the promos so stay tuned.
http://waffleon.podbean.com
Looking forward to it! Never seen this show before so it will be interesting to hear your opinions.
I haven't seen this show - I'll see if I can dig it up on Netflix.
If you are a geek you will love it.
I've only seen part of a single episode, really liked it and looking forward to hearing more about it!
I love Spaced. For those who haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Can't wait to listen to the podcast!
And of course Kasey is in this episode. Thanks mate, awesome comment and I can't believe you didn't say you have your own Colin dog lol :)
Oddly enough, I've never seen it either hence no comments from here!Do I get a mention in the show anyway?
You will have to listen Mike lol ;)
It's in the queue :)
Until work moves to Crawley, the downside of driving to the office at the moment (now I can) is that it wipes out two half-hour-walks-worth of podcast listening.

Waffle On About Childrens TV shows Part One
Waffle On about Children's TV shows Part One.
Welcome to this months edition of Waffle On. Here we talk about some children's television shows that we watched back in the 1970's. As you will notice that we have put Part One up in the title and that is because we will be doing another one on shows shown in the 1970's and of course the 1980's. There are so many kids shows we could have talked about but we whittled this down to some of our favourites. We also have comments from Antony from the scuttercast, Boz from Here Goes Nothing and emails from Dan Vieira and Cherly Hough.
If you loved Mr Ben, Bagpuss, The Flumps and more this show is for you and as always if you don't know these programmes then stay tuned and hopefully you will find something you like and go search for it.
As usual please head to http://waffleon.podbean.com

Sorry, I missed the deadline on this one and by the time I remembered it was probably too late for a post addition too.
I've got it queued up for listening anuway :)
Will try to do better next time.
Steptoe and son is next Mike :)
Would you believe I've never seen it?
You jest
I don't actually :)
Seriously you've not seen Steptoe and Son. Hmmm that seems like a idea on finding you a episode and getting a first view opinion :)
I feel so uniformed! Usually I know all the shows you cover (liking some more than others) - but I don't know any of these (he hangs his head in shame)..
I guess the only UK kid shows I saw came from Gerry Anderson (LOVED Cpt. Scarlett).
Since you claimed not to know, according to Wikipedia...
In 1986, Peter Cushing appeared on the British TV show Jim'll Fix It. His "wish", "granted" by Jimmy Savile, was to have a strain of rose named after his late wife. Cushing's letter to the show, in copperplate handwriting, was shown, as was the identification and naming of a rose named "Helen Cushing".[4]
I did know the name but for the life of me as I recorded my mnd went blank. I didnt know about the style of letter though that is intresting. darn wiki and its facts.
WAFFLE ON ABOUT STEPTOE AND SON
Waffle On about Steptoe and Son
Hello and welcome to this months edition of Waffle On. This month we talk about the brilliant 1960's comedy tv series Steptoe and Son. Brilliantly written by Galton and Simpson the series made stars of the two actors Harry H Corbett and Wilfred Brambell but also cursed them with the dreaded typecast noose.
We as usual ask you love listeners to leave us reviews and comments on itunes and please do listen to the promos at the end of the show which include The Martians Are Here Podcast, Anomaly Podcast, Tin Dog Podcast, Knights of the Guild Podcast, Dirty Boxes Podcast and Take Him With You Podcast.
As usual please head to http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) and we hope you enjoy the episode, thanks again for supporting our podcast.

Waffle On About Star Trek The Next Generation.
Star Trek The Next Generation is as weall know an American television programme so why are we waffling on about it. Well Its simple. Once a year Waffle On is going to do a show about a prominent American programme that had a big effect on both Meds and Kell. This year its time for TNG.
Star Trek TNG hit our screens in the mid 1980's and impressionable young lads that we were (and geeks at heart) we both jumped into the magical world of this brilliant programme. Plus we both quite fancied Tasha Yar and Deanna Troi. The first few series of TNG were a bit crap, and we say that in our own friendly banter way but the other four series were brilliant. This episode is a little bit longer than normal but it is packed with listener mp3's from Rico, Al, Rick, Kenny, Harry, Jen, Angela, Sue, Sarah and a brilliant email from Katrin so we hope you enjoy it.
As always thanks for listening and make it so.
http://waffleon.podbean.com
Hey Meds...sorry to tell you, but Kell was right about the movie Battle Beyond The Stars. You guys were discussing what the separated Enterprise resembles (Saucer section, back section). The back section does resemble the ship from Battle Beyond The Stars....(http://members.cox.net/talesmousehouse/Battlebeyondthestars.jpg) Great episode! Loved the podcast...I love the idea of you guys covering one American show per year...Al
I've been watching the first season of Grange Hill the last couple of evenings, 2nd season is on its way now. Was wondering if this series has been talked about on your podcast? I did see a recent show about Children's programs - will try to dl later, having bandwidth issues at the moment.
There was another old kids show I got some years back called "Changes" which was actually scifi. Sadly I never got around to watching more then the first episode and must have deleted the files since then :(
Hello Beer, we are actually doing a whole shoe on Grange Hill because its too big a subject to put in a compilation episode. So you are in the world of Tucker Jenkins, excellent. I'll let you know when we do that show and I would love a comment or email off you on your thoughts.
Thanks for listening.
Al, Thanks for that call lol, I won't tell Kell ;) we did do a bor of searching after we recorded and found that poster.
Sounds great, I'll be sure to watch for it!
update: almost got all of the first 4 seasons - really enjoying the series. after will need to think which I like more, Grange or Degrassi.
GREAT EPISODE Meds and Kell. Loved it.
All kidding aside Meds, great show. Thanks again! Al
Whats Up Waffle On,
Hello and welcome to this months podcast. On this show Meds and kell throw the Waffle On doors open to you our listeners. We want your opinion on our show. We are thinking of adding and modifying the whole show and we want to know if that's what you would like.

So take a listen and let us know what you think. Email us at waffleonpodcast@googlemail.com or to my personal email if you have it, or leave a comment here on podbean or on our Facebook page. Your opinions matter and please be honest.
Cheers and we look forward to bringing you septembers waffle On which will be all about the brilliant 1998 film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking barrels. MP3's and emails welcome for that show.
Cheers.
Meds and kell.

Will still be keeping fingers crossed for the Grange Hill show ;)
Beer have a listen, give us your thoughts. Grange Hill is definitely on the list :)
I cannot seem to find your waffle on podcast page on facebook... must be doing something wrong... is there a direct link to the fan page/group? Thanks!
Hmm if you type in the search bar Waffle On Podcast it should come up ( I'm creating a business one as well but that shouldn't come up) if you can't find it friend me on FB ( say who you are oh and find me via Rico or Ricks page) and I'll recommend you the page.

Ah brilliant get posting on the fan page then lol
Waffle On About Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Welcome to this months episode of Waffle On. This month we talk about the brilliant 1998 gangster comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. this film launched the directorial career of Guy Ritchie and launched the acting career of Jason Statham. The film has a plethora of British talent including Jason Flemyng, Nick Moran, Dexter Fletcher and Vinnie Jones. It has a brilliant script and we add in some samples from the film for your 9and of course our) enjoyment.
WARNING THIS EDITION HAS SWEAR WORDS IN IT. Yes alas we have to put this warning out because the samples from the film do contain swear words so expect the odd f-bomb and other colourful words. I don't agree with censoring films or anything really so i wont be bleeping anything out. You have been warned.
BONUS We like to treat you wonderful listeners so keep on listening through the promos and you get a full song from the soundtrack of Lock Stock. We play you Truly Madly Deeply by Skanga a song that was not featured on the USA version of the soundtrack.
Next month is of course Halloween so we will be doing a special Halloween show in the shape of Waffle On about Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Comments welcome as usual to waffleonpodcast@gmail.com
Also if you fancy a bit more of Meds's work head over to http://themartiansarehere.com (http://themartiansarehere.com) and check out the brilliant on going story by Stefan Sawynok.
So as usual head to http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) and have a listen.
Cheers Meds and Kell
Saw that movie quite a few years ago, and will admit, was after a victorious Highland Games so, don't remember much of it! :)
Hmmm, haven't seen this one, but looking forward to the listen
Great podcast Meds! And for the record, the swearing wasn't all that bad! :)
Cheers Al. :D
Nice show! I've realised that I haven't seen this film! The clips you played sounded like it's pretty funny so I must give it a go.
Cheers Dan :D
Waffle On Tribute to Norman Wisdom.
This edition is a special tribute podcast to a fantastic comedian and all round entertainer Sir Norman Wisdom who sadly passed away on the 4th of October 2010. A well loved man who's career blossomed in the late 50's and early 60's. His films were not popular with the critics but loved by the general public. Later in life he took to stage work and stand up comedy drawing great success along with some serious straight roles.
He lived on the Isle of Man for many years and it was here that he passed away at the grand age of 95. We felt it fitting and only right that we do a tribute podcast to Norman and i hope that you will enjoy this and for anyone who is not familiar with is work please do seek out the film On the Beat from 1962 which is a personal favourite.
We'll be back in a few weeks with the official October show.

Waffle On About Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Written and Starring Mathew Holness and Richard Ayoade this brilliant comedy series first hit the screens back in 2004. A homage to early (and cheap) 1980's style action programmes Darkplace is set in a hospital over the very gates of hell in Romford. Holness plays the main character Garth Marenghi the horror writer who in turn plays Dr Rick Dagless in, Ayoade plays Dean Learner as Garths agent who in turn plays Thornton Reed, Matt Berry plays Todd Rivers who then plays Dr Lucien sanchez and Alice Lowe plays Madeline Wool who then plays Dr Liz Asher. Darkplace is a brilliant, quirky programme that benefits from visual gags, mad syncing, out of scene music cues and seriously bad Foley work all done deliberatlye. Its ounds weird and indeed it is but we hope listening to this podcast while make you go and seek it out and enjoy the dark world of Garth Marenghi and his Darkplace.
As is our norm now we have put a special surprise at the end of the episode. So please do listen to the promo's and then enjoy the song taken from Darkplace called 'One Track Lover' performed by Matt Berry as his character in the show 'Todd Rivers'

Darkplace is one I'm not familiar with.....do I need to watch it all before listening to this episode?
No hopefully after listening you will want to watch it. We play the opening monologues to each episode. I think you would love the series though and buy the DVD. I'd be really interested to see what you think of Darkplace after hearing us talk about it :)
Got it and can't wait to listen!!!:)
Ok Meds, sorry if this question has been answered before. I'm just too dang lazy to search for the answer. What is the meaning behind your podcast name: Waffle On? :) Al
LOl, ok well basically it means to chatter away. You know when people say boy doesn't he waffle on all the time. And as me and kell just keep n talking when we are on about something we enjoy it seemed rather apt to call it waffle on.
Ah, must be a UK thing. :) And I thought it came from the Latin root, Waffleonus, meaning to impart classic British television wisdom! :)
LOl, funnily enough I have heard several US podcasts say he was waffling on including Rick on THWY.
:)

David Frost is mentioned three times :)
WAFFLE ON ABOUT PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES
Hello and welcome to the Christmas edition of Waffle On and what better way than to reminisce about a classic feel good Christmas film from John Hughes. Planes, Trains & Automobiles came out in 1987 and is actually a Thanksgiving set film but hey, come on it feels and looks like a Christmas film and as we in England don't celebrate thanksgiving we class it as a Christmas film. Starring Steve Martin and John Candy in the lead roles this films which is basically a road movie comedy, it is packed with laughs, slapstick and of course feel good moments.
We pack this episode of Waffle On with clips from the film and a couple of songs featured on the soundtrack. Many thanks go to Jen Rhodes from The Anomaly Podcast and Stephen Curtis from Tiny Bronco Productions who sent us mp3 comments about this film
As is our norm these days we play a classic song from the film after the promo's so please do listen through and enjoy the brilliant tune. Waffle On About laurel and Hardy.
Hello and Happy New Year to you all may 2011 be a fantastic Waffley One for you all.
So we crack on with our new style (kind of) with Laurel and Hardy two fantastic comedians and probably on eof the most well known and influential double acts ever to cross our screens on cinema and television. The duo bring together everything that is great about British and American comedy. We discuss the duo, the odd film and of course we play a couple of clips, the theme tune and right at the end after the promos a treat. The full version of Trail from the lonesome pine.
Thanks to those who sent us comments and please do continue to listen this year.
http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com)
Looking forward to it.
I'm listening now (working at home is nice!). I have to say you're now getting into areas about which I don't know a whole lot - Laurel and Hardy were on TV growing up but never particularly grabbed me - so I've been relatively quiet of late. This isn't a complaint, BTW, just a comment since I enjoy learning new things even at my advanced age ;)
As usual gents...excellent show! Loved it. And Meds...tell Kell "he can call me Al..." :metallica::)
Lol I knew you'd like that bit and inhope you liked the little Disney fact :)
Mike I really like it when people listen to our show when they are not familiar with the subject matter, I hope it shows we can draw you in. Are you a fan of any other silent films maybe?? Like Harold Lloyd or Chaplin?
Thanks for listening :D
Waffle On About Chopper
On this episode Meds and Kell talk about the 2000 film Chopper which shot Eric Bana to international fame. Directed by Andrew Dominik who has recently directed the Brad Pitt film The Assastination of Jesse James this film charts the history of notorious Australian criminal Mark 'Chopper' Read. Its violent, its 'kind of' true and its got some great Aussie slang words. What more can you ask for.
We have a excellent comment from writer Stefan Sawyno.
As usual please go to http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) to download this and all our past shows.

Have all references to 'Treks In Scifi' been badly overdubbed with 'Waffle On'?
That would be cool! :)
LOL No i have recorded a intro stating that this episode was for TSF and then the radio kicks in and theme music and back to me again.
I have got both your treks in sci-fi and walleon podcast downloaded. I hope to listen to it soon. I have seen Rock Horror two times and seen it preformed live at a convention once. I have even seen it lampooned on late nite TV once too.

Set on the island of Hawaii Magnum lived at the beautiful beach side residence of writer Robin Masters. Tasked with detective work from the owner, Magnum would often be seen driving the house car a Ferrari 308 GTS around the island and annoying house master Higgins.

Wriggly eye brow raise and a sly moustached smile.
Great show guys! I wish I'd have known, I'd have sent in a comment or an email on the subject. I was a little surprised that you didn't mention "Did You See The Sunrise?" where Magnum planned and carried out the murder of Ivan.

BEST Magnum episode. I still think it might be one of the most powerful TV shows I have ever seen. To this day I still get chills thinking of that final scene. I haven't heard the whole Waffle yet, but I was sure you guys would have mentioned it.
Agreed. Best episode ever.
Magnum... Did You See the Sun Rise? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXa9wipv6j8#)
One more thing...last episode...fight in the nightclub...topless dancer in the background that got past the censor and acutally went out over the air.
Ah you see that's why you guys should have commented lol. I actually had a email after the show went out about that exact episode and it came flooding back to me. Remember Waffle is all about our memories mainly of the show mixed with some researched trivia.
Send us in your thoughts on that episode guys and I'll read it out. For your info subjects in the pipe line are as follows.
The Blues Brothers
Monty Pythons Life of Brian
Only Fools and Horses
Callan/ The Equalizer
Childrens TV from the 1980's
Moonlighting
Dads Army
The Italian Job (Caine version)
Carry On Films.
So hopefully you may see something you'd like to comment on, hint hint. ;)
Life of Brian and Moonlighting I can opine! Never really watched the Equalizer and wasn't watching much childrens TV in the '80's, I'm too old. :)
Dad's Army!! Excellent! Have to see if I can dig up a DVD someplace to refresh my memory. Hopefully Netflix will have something.
Life of Brian also a favorite of mine. "What have the Romans ever done for us?!"
I own every Carry On movie.

Waffle On About Only Fools and Horses.
On this episode Meds and Kell are joined by regular guest Peter Coleman as they discuss the hugely popular British sit com Only Fools and Horses. First broadcast in 1981 the show lasted an impressive 22 years. Starring David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Buster Merryfield and Lennard Pearce and written by John Sullivan the programme started off slow in the audience ratings but soon grew into a huge hit offering wonderful Christmas specials and two spin offs.
Special thanks go to Cheryl Hough, Peter Stratford and Scott Boswell who sent us emails regarding the show and also to the Only Fools and Horses online fan club who has a wealth of information and videos so please do check their site out at http://www.ofah.net/blog/ (http://www.ofah.net/blog/)

Waffle On About Monty Pythons Life of Brian.
Welcome to this months edition of Waffle On Podcast in which Meds and Kell discuss the brilliant Monty Python film Life of Brian. Often touted as the best comedy film ever made (we agree) it also has caused (unfairly) some controversy. Written and starring John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Eric Idle this film tells the story of Brian a Jewish (or is he a Roman) man caught up being mistaken for the Messiah and no matter how many time he tries to convince people he is just a average bloke no one believes hm including Pilate the Roman leader.
We play clips from the film and of course the main title theme and the brilliant end credits ong Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
Head to http://waffleon.podbean.com (http://waffleon.podbean.com) or head to iTunes and download from there. remember we have a Facebook group page just type in Waffle On Podcast for the group page. We always like reviews on iTunes so please do leave us a review.
Many Thanks for your support
Meds anf Kell.
Lovely, I've got plenty to listen to tonight! :)
The BEST Python film, without a doubt. Brilliant, inspired, wicked, hysterical.
Nice job, made me want to watch this film again, forgotten how funny it was. Great points about it being banned without being reviewed. While it may not be everybody's cup of tea it doesn't criticise Jesus Christ whatsoever.
Cheers Bry hope you enjoy the podcast, Cheers Dan I'm glad it hit your spot (and i don;t mean biggus ahem lol)

Just got through listening, great Cast great points and i will be digging out the dvd at the weekend to watch again. I think the reaction at the time was a bit over the top, but who can say they never heard "always look on the bright side of life". someone somewhere was humming or whistling it for weeks at the time, even in our playground!.
Wow now it looks like our podcast came out at the right time. Check this out.
BBC to dramatise Life Of Brian controversy in new film
A BBC comedy drama that explores the controversy surrounding the release of Monty Python's 1979 film, Life of Brian, has been commissioned.
The comedy movie revolved around a man called Brian Cohen, who was mistaken for the Messiah.
At the time, church leaders protested over the production claiming it mocked Christ and it was subsequently banned in several countries.
Holy Flying Circus will be broadcast in the autumn on BBC Four.
Life of Brian was a huge box-office success, earning the fourth-highest takings in the UK in 1979 and the highest for any British film in the US that year.
Shortly after the film was released, John Cleese and Michael Palin engaged in a now famous debate on the BBC Two discussion programme Friday Night, Saturday Morning.
Broadcaster Malcolm Muggeridge and the Bishop of Southwark, the Right Reverend Mervyn Stockwood, argued the film was an attack on the Christian faith.
The new drama will be written by Tony Roche, whose other credits include In the Loop and The Thick of It.
Owen Harris, who has worked on Misfits and Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has signed up to direct.
The BBC said the 90-minute film would incorporate "surreal cutaways including puppetry and animation".
Controller of BBC Four Richard Klein said: "This is a smart and witty take on both the nature of censorship and the world of Monty Python.
"Tony Roche's script is both bold and entertaining, a wonderfully warm homage to one of the most original of British comedy teams."
Darren Boyd will play John Cleese and Charles Edwards has been cast in the role of Michael Palin.
Comedian Steve Punt will star as Eric Idle, Rufus Jones plays Terry Jones, Scots-Canadian former Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Phil Nichol is Terry Gilliam and Tom Fisher plays the late Graham Chapman
I knew it was a mistake listening to the show whilst on my bike this afternoon. I was laughing my ass off while trying do some quality training, it was impossible! And speaking of juniper bushes, how about that Judith.... :ohbaby

Hope you like it Jeff, :)
Haha it was the dance remix!
Now I feel like an idiot! Looking forward to it. :)
Ever see when Benny Hill did that parody of the A-Team? Funny stuff. I have this one downloaded and ready for the commute.
I really enjoyed the Podcast Meds, learned a lot about the A-Team that I did not know, especially regarding George Peppard. Brought back some great memories. Just a note about Dirk Benedict's and Dwight Schultz's cameos in the movie, there are some scenes at the end of the movie after the credits, where they appear.
Ah, right thanks Jeff. Glad you enjoyed the podcast, got to love the theme tune. :)

Awesome episode gentlemen...
Hey Meds!

Hope you like the episodes Zarabeth, we do waffle on a awful lot though. Let me know what you think :)
Great show! Hey Meds, I sent in a quick audio for The Young Ones but not sure if it was sent, double check, it went to you gmail.
Hey Meds!
I just started listening to your episode about ST:TNG. It's great hearing the two of you banter and waffle. Of course I got into it during my teens. I definitely liked the latter episodes and most of the episodes with Data. Loved Unification where he and Spock have their scenes. Of course Data is the only one who can pull off the vulcan neck pinch but can't get Riker's hair "Quite Right." I also really enjoyed the episodes with "broccoli" oops I meant Barkley. I had no idea that he was on The A-Team. I haven't heard your A-Team one yet but I do have a personal experience to add. When I was in middle school, one summer we went to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream in Vermont. Mr. T was there signing autographs. He was all decked out with his chains and Mohawk. Pretty cool. Love his WoW commercials.
Hope that you are doing well!
Z
Bry havnt received your email.
ZB thanks :) hope you like the other episodes, feel free to suggest any subjects for us to waffle about :D
Meds...how about a Waffle On about Lost In Space?? Or..how about the short lived series, Quark? :)
Good choices Al but we do have a slight rule that we both have watched the subject consistently because we like to have that personal touch to it. I may research it as much as possible but we still need to have some passion about it. Lost in Space we only watched a bit, and I'm not familiar with Quark though in the future it may change.
Keep coming up with suggestions though :)
What about a SME (Subject Matter Expert) guesting on the show? Just a thought...Quark was a very short lived Sci-Fi Space Sitcom of sorts, starring Richard Benjamin. It kind of reminded me of some BBC stuff...
If you don't do Peter Sellars / Pink Panther movies then I will. ;)
We are Dan LOL.
Bugger...resent!
Geoffrey Rush did a great movie called "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers." Have you seen it? I thought he did a great job, but that's just my opinion. I've watched it with the commentary and it's great just listening to how they got into making the film.
Just finished listening to the Magnum P.I. Waffle On. That was really cool. I definitely like Tom Selleck with a moustache. Guys that I'm used to seeing with a moustache look totally weird without them. I remember the first time I saw my dad without his, I said "Where's my dad?" I couldn't believe it was really him. Definitely a Clark Kent/Superman moment. Guys who usually wear glasses look so different without them on. I had a really huge crush on my Chemistry Teacher in high school and when he would take his glasses off, he just looked so different in a very good way.
I liked Tom Selleck in Magnum, Three Men and a Baby (which was directed by Leonard Nimoy!), Three Men and a Little Lady (there are rumors that they may actually make another one called Three Men and a Bride). I definitely loved Quigley more because of Alan Rickman. I also loved him in Her Alibi. That movie was so funny because he thinks she's trying to kill him.
Another tie to Magnum was a promo that they did for Monk a few years ago. They did a spoof off the show Magnum and played the music and called it Monk P.I. I'll attach the link. Have you ever watched Monk? That would be a great Waffle On episode to cover.
Hope that you are well!

You so should see the movie. I ended up picking it up. I Netflixed it first and then I picked it up. Geoffrey is just genius in the role of Peter Sellers. It's made in the way as if Peter Sellers was telling his own story. The other actors were wonderful too.
Just finished to listening to "Life of Brian" podcast. I've had very limited Monty Python experience. My dad is a fan and I have friends that are fans too. I loved their tribute to George Harrison during "Concert for George." I always wondered what the connection between them was. I do like Eric Idle a lot. I loved him in "Nuns on the Run" with Robbie Coltrane. I think it's great that his character's name is Brian. That's a great comedy.
What's the deal with John Cleese? Did they have a falling out or is he just more focused on his solo work? When I watched "Concert for George," I noticed that he wasn't involved. Tom Hanks ended up taking his place.
Listening to the "Dr. Who" Waffle On now. I went to Borders (bookstore going out of business) and picked up a Tom Baker Dr. Who DVD. I figured I might as well pick one up while the deals are good. I can't imagine what it will be like not going into a bookstore. Of course there is always the library! ;-) My first memory of Dr. Who was definitely Tom Baker. He has such a great smile. Always seemed to be smiling. He was such a large actor. (I say was even though I know he's still alive). He's also got a great voice.

Resent Meds, did you get it?
Got it Bry, thanks mate.
Zarabeth, which Tom Baker episode did you get? Tom was my first Dr, though Peter Davison was the one i fully remember. You cant beat going into book stores, such a sad state of affairs that we are losing them. I loved the life and death of peter sellars, he was such a troubled soul at times, a man who couldnt be himself.
I just think it was a conflict of appointments that John didnt do the concert for George. He got on very well with him, I have issues with Idle, which is a shame because i too loved him in Nuns on the Run, but i feel he has been flogging Python for every dime he can get his hands on. :D
Ta!
Hey Meds!
I picked up "The Creature from the Pit." Just started watching it this morning before heading off to work. I like how calm Tom Baker's Dr. Who is even when he's in danger. And he's just oh so polite to his captors even when they plan on killing him.
Another actor that I remember is Patrick Troughton. I only vaguely remember him from the Dr. Who series but I remember seeing him in the 1976 version of "The Omen." He played Father Brennan who warns Gregory Peck's character about his child. That's one of my favorite horror movies. That's a movie worth doing a podcast about. When watching the specials for that, they talked about how they had a lot of weird things happen during the making. I liked the second one ok but the others were awful. Didn't like the remake too much except that I liked David Thewlis taking over David Warner's role.
Oh the Omen is awesome, great acting from Troughton especially how he holds himself when he dies. I think we'll be doing the Omen, we're big fans of Troughton and David Warner.
Tom Baker does have that calm, I love the description all teeth and curls lol
i recently picked up the Omen box set in HMV for ÂŁ15 all the films, nice little bargin
HMV ate doing some great deals at the moment. Bonus box set mate.
probably because they are in trouble still charging ÂŁ30 for trek per series though, when they was only ÂŁ19 a few months ago, i will bide my time.

Yeah great film, sadly though this does represent what some places in the UK are like
I'm on my phone to at the moment so I'll do it this evening
Finally got round to voting. Just shows how often I turn on an actual PC these days even though I'm constantly online... sheesh! :)
Good luck mate!
I have voted. A great podcast. i have emailed an MP3 for the next one. Always worth a listen.
Ok so some Waffle On news, first the bad, it looks like we're going to put our next episode out at least two weeks late because of a death in the family, kell's flat losing it's electricity and holidays. Don't worry Waffle On about Rik Mayall & Ade Edmonson will be out soon.
Good news, Meds & Kell are to be interviewed on Ian Todds Untruths podcast, Ian is a stand up comedian and writer who has interviewed some awesome comedians, producers and writers so why he wants to chat with us is anyone's guess ;) lol More info to come.
Meds,
No worries brother. Your show is well worth the wait. Awesome news on the interview though! And oh, what IS that avatar you have here? Kind of creeps me out! :)
That avatar is a still from Bad Taste and that is Peter Jackson eating the brains. Bad Taste was his first film and he wrote, directed, produced, edited and acted (2 roles) in the film. It looks amateurish but considering it took him a couple of years to film I think it holds up and we will be covering it on Waffle On.
He's come a long way.
Meds
sorry to hear your double bad news. It will make the podcast even more anticipated, keep us keen.
take care
stan
Indeed, mate, hope all is well.
Condolences Meds. Look forward to the next cast.

Hey, how about a live Waffle cast? :)
Pete we've thought about that but not really sure how we would do it. A skype recording is our best option.

Bonus Waffle On about Shaun of the Dead with The Anomaly Podcast
Hello and welcome to this very special bonus Halloween episode of Waffle On Podcast in which Meds joins forces with our 'Sister Show' The brilliant Anomaly Podcast.
Jen and Angela fight of the zombies and help Meds waffle on about this brilliant British film which stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Also as a special treat there is a comedy sketch at the beginning to get the ball rolling. One word of warning for those who listen with kids this is a podcast about zombies and eating brains, and in this version there are clips that do contain a lot of swearing so please BE WARNED. (The Waffle On version is slightly different to The Anomaly one so please download both podcasts and if you dont want one with cuss words in please listen to The Anomaly episode)

Just started the podcast and enjoying it. Never watched Spaced or Hot Fuzz. For a good review of spaced I recommend "British Invaders" on itunes.
Looking forward to the Meaning of Life.
I showed "Burn her she's a witch" as part of a lesson on Witches on halloween. Most of the kids had never heard of Python but loved it!

I always remember Edward Woodward in the movie 'Breaker Morant'.
Great Australian movie.
Waffle On About Callan & The Equalizer
Hello and welcome to this bumper episode of Waffle On in which Meds & Kell talk about two of Edward Woodwards best known TV vehicles, Callan and The Equalizer. Head to http://waffleon.podbean.com/2011/11/16/waffle-on-about-callan-the-equalizer/ (http://waffleon.podbean.com/2011/11/16/waffle-on-about-callan-the-equalizer/)
Callan
Callan hit our screens back in 1967 as a special on a programme called Armchair theatre. The pilot was such a success a series soon followed and in total four series hit our screens, first in black and white and then in colour. Callan was a hard hitting killer who suffered from emotional prangs about the people he was contracted to deal with.
The Equalizer
Edward Woodward returned to hard hitting TV drama in the guise of Robert McCall aka The Equalizer. The series launched in 1985 and ran again for four series up to 1989. McCall a retired operative from a secret organisation known simply as The Agency attempts to make amends by hiring himself our for free in aid of people in distress in New York.

Waffle On about Monty python's The Meaning Of Life
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hello and welcome to our Christmas episode all about Monty Pythons The Meaning of Life, the last film to be done by the brilliant Python gang. Meds and Kell waffle on as usual about this classic comedy and play musical clips from the film.
Thanks to Patrick Stratford from The Last of the Summer Wine Podcast for his mp3 comment and to Kasey and Sue from the Anomaly Supplemental Podcast for their impression of Meds and selling of Christmas socks.

And a Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too
I loved your The Meaning of Life podcast!
It's one of my favorite movies. :)
AWESOME show lads!!
Loving the look at The Meaning of Life. I agree this has some classic moments and some not so great moments for Python. I agree with Kel that the sex education scene is a bit too much but I have to say the clinical description of sex is funny and when I always get a lugh when during the actual demonstration, Clease has to yell at the kids to pay attention. Oh, and I have been singing "Every Sperm is Sacred" all morning. Thanks for that. ;)
Wow thanks for the feedback everyone :)

I haven't listened yet but I'm interested to hear this one since The Meaning of Life is the only python film I really didn't enjoy at all. (It all seemed a bit disjointed to me and the sex was over-done for my taste). I've heard all sorts of stories about the making of it, but I'm hoping for the definitive background assessment from you two!
I think you will like it then Mike :)

HI, meds, I just listen to the wallon on postcat yesterday evening at work. great podcat, however I was not familiar with most of the shows you disccussed except for a couple. I remember dagermouse being shown in the US on cable TV and I also remember master of the universe series's. I never really watched the Mater of the Universe series but my younger brother's friends did. I only remember seeing the live action version of the show and I don't remember very much of it. look forared to more of your podcat latter.
Hey thanks for your comment mate, hope you check the back catalogue out :)
Good show meds! As a kid I had several action figures from the He-Man series. I amalgomated them into my collection of GI-Joes and usually He-Man became the indestructable General of all things good. I gave the Shera figurine to my sister, as it was not cool for a boy to play with her in my school. As I got older however, I certainly grew to appreciate her anatomical bounties. :andorian

Yup thanks Mike. It went up on Sunday.

Released in 1975 this film is based on the short story by Rudyard Kipling and follows the exploits of Peachy Carnehan (Caine) and Daniel Dravot (Connery) as they attempt to become rich by forging a army out of the small villages in India and Afghanistan. D@mn! I am sorry Meds, I meant to get a comment in for this one. I am a true Kipling fan, and love this book & movie - Masonic references and all.. :)
Well I hope you enjoy the show mate.
hi meds, I listen to the walffe on cast last night while at work. Great podcast. however I have never seen the movie. I have seen some scenes of it when it was brodcasted here on TV a few time. maybe i will see it in its entirety later on. One thing I would like to mention here is about Michael Cains wife. I do remember she did have a brief scene in Gerry Anderson"s UFO TV series. I recall Anderson saying something about it in the DVD Comentry. I look forward to the next podcast.
Awesome thanks for the comment mate. :D
Hi meds, I was wondering if you have done a waffle on podcast on two U.K. sci-fi series from the sixties? the frist is Gerry Anderson UFO series, like I mention in the previous post., and the show called the champions. I have both series in my DVD collection. I have enjoyed watching both series and if you have not done a podcat on the two would you concider doing on? thanks.
We have done a Gerry Anderson special in which we do talk about UFO http://waffleon.podbean.com/2009/08/13/waffle-on-about-gerry-anderson/ (http://waffleon.podbean.com/2009/08/13/waffle-on-about-gerry-anderson/) NOt too sure we will do a podcast just on The Champions but we may well do a ITC special.
This was such a cool show, and one I loved as a youngster. Loved the wigs!

I watched the show when I was a youngster also. I was able to watch a few episodes of the show in the 90's on the sci-fi channel. I finally got to see the entire series on DVD back in 2005, I loved the women's costumes and wigs too.
Hi Meds, i just listen to the waffle on podcast on Gerry Anderson. great podcast. I have enjoyed some of his work over the years. I first saw UFO when I was a child and then space:1999 when I was older. I enjoyed space:1999 but I don't think I understood the plot that much. but i count UFO and capt. Scarlet as my favorites. I have seem some episodes of Space Precinct on TV, the syfy Chanel ran a marthorn of the show back in December 2010. that show was more cop show with aleins more than anything.
Thanks mate, glad you got to listen to it. :D
Mini Waffle On about Food TV Programmes.
Love them or hate them there is no ignoring them. Food programmes have been dominating the little screen for quite a few years and Kell has finally had enough and vents his annoyance right here on Waffle On while Meds stands up in the kitchen court and defends (at least) some of the programmes. Interesting! Food Network and the Travel Channel take up the bulk of our causal TV watching. Looking forward to a good argument.
LOL I have a right go at Man v Food, i'm afraid i can;t abide all hat whoop whoopin about a greasy large bloke stuffing his face with six burgers when other people starve.
Interesting (maybe). Personally I don't watch any food shows so I'm not in a position to judge their usefulness :)
Let's see what you guys think then.
I don't really care for the 'extreme' style shows but I do enjoy the more instructional shows where they show you how to cook things.
Now you may think that I don't like food programes, not at all I really like masterchef, saturday morning kitchen and like you said Joe the shows that show you how to cook and also history of food. Its the extreme style stuff i too dont like. The bits about the restaurant and the food they serve is great but six huge burgers in one sitting. No.
There are a few Brit cooking shows I used to watch. The Two Fat Ladies, The Naked Chef, Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (not really about the food, more about Gordon venting his spleen). I recall an oldie called 'Floyd on Fish' that I watched when young, and of course the 'Galloping Gourmet'.
For US cooking shows, my absolute favorite is 'Lidia's Kitchen' - she is a marvelous teacher, and makes marvelous Italian fare.
When I was a kid, I used to love the Cajun Chef. He used to do those Ruffles commercials for a while.
http://youtu.be/fR1Eu01gav8 (http://youtu.be/fR1Eu01gav8)
He was funny!
Hoo Boy!
I remember him! He was great - loved the way he would talk.
Pete i'm a Huge Keith Floyd fan, the man is a legend of having a slurp while cooking.
Just finished the Man who would be king podcast, excellent stuff. I must re-watch this, I nearly did over Christmas. I feel Amazon calling!
Time Bandits podcast, great idea!
Very sad news. Philip Madoc has sadly passed away. Myself and kell saw Philip last year and as usual i regret not taking more time in chatting with him. He is most well known for playing the german in Dads Army (what is your name, dont tell him pike) and in porridge. A wonderful actor with a fantastic voice. RIP Philip.

Hey Meds!
As I've been listening to the latest podcast on "The Man Who Would be King," it makes me think of all the movies I've seen with Sean Connery and Michael Caine.
Sean Connery: Darby O'Gail and the Little People (Favorite), a few of the Bond films, Finding Forrester (Favorite), Avengers (not so much of a favorite), Dragonheart (awesome voice as a dragon), First Knight (love the chemistry between the three main leads), League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (it was ok), and The Rock.
Michael Caine: Dressed to Kill (very creepy movie), Miss Congeniality (loved him in that), Second Hand Lions (great movie), Hannah and her Sisters, Educating Rita, and Little Voice (he was such a great con artist in that!)
Just thought I would add that in. I love these two actors. I will definitely need to add this movie into my Netflix and see this movie.
Hope that your cold feels better soon!
Hugs!
Z
Love 'Darby O'Gill and the Little People'! They played that in an old cinema near us just recently, and I brought the wife and kids.
When I think of Michael Caine, I always think of 'Zulu', and 'Alfie'. I have a recording of him reading Rudyard Kipling's 'If' on my iPod that I make the kids listen to now and then.... :) But I am a sentimental old fool....
Great choices Z, some rare choices there as well. Pete Zulu is always a classic film.
Great mini waffle about food shows. You didn't mention one of my favorites, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. We just finished watching the Three Hungry Boys and The Fabulous Baker Brothers.
I rather liked the fabulous baker brothers but it looks like they wont get a second series. Killed by twitter i think.

No kidding? Do tell.
Well twitter was awash with people banging in about how 'smug and middle class' they are. Audience figures dropped a bit but not enough for such ridiculous comments.
I'd love to see a second series, I made several dishes from that show.

Waffle On about James Bond.
A year or so ago Meds and regular guest host Peter Coleman did a show for Rico over here at Treks in Sci Fi Podcast. Well we decided to re-edit it and put it up in our own feed for you to have a listen, though to be fair as it's already been on here chances are you will have already listened but I urge you to listen again. Did i say listen a lot then?
Meds and Peter talk in depth about every Bond film, offering facts and the odd sample along the way.

Well done on placing. Nice to be appreciated.
This is cool...I missed that one as I have been listening for a bit under a year...looking forward to listening to it at work tomorrow!
I'd missed that one as well. Did my mind wander of did you guys miss one? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086006/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086006/)
No Bever Say Never Again is not an official Bond film and it's just a poor remake of Thunderball. Though it does have some good lines in it.

It's defintely a poor remake.
I won't argue that it's a poor remake, but I would argue that it was a significant enough part of the Bond story that it should have been mentioned, if only for the fact that Connery was playing Bond again.
Hi meds, I just listen to the wafflon podcast on the Jame Bond film's last night. Great podcat, a lot of detail with facts though out.. I grew up watching the Bond movies starting with Sean Connery. I still continue to watch in the reboot with Daniel Crag.
I do remember one of my childhood friends having a little toy Austin martin with a ejection seat in the car, but that was so long ago I can't remember too much about it but i remember it being neat. I do want to say that I remember hearing that the reason for the gap in the Bond film's in the 90's was the end of the cold war which left Bond without villain. In the 89 film he was going after a drug lord of all things and not the KGB. I do want to meation also that the villain Drax from Moonraker was supposed to have been based on a real life Nazi war criminal.
well I do look forward the the next walffle on podacast.
Thanks mate, awesome comment. As I said on the podcast i really wished the Timothy Dalton had a bit of a better run of films. I love his Bond.
I still think of conery as bond, he had set the standerd I think, while the Roger More era was more escapiest fantesy.
Now with the Dan Craig era brings things down to earth, the bond films are more realistc. not sure about Timothy Dalton, I didn't see very many of his films, maybe only two.
Mini Waffle On about Lack of Sports on Terrestrial TV.
Another mini waffle for you and in this edition we talk about the lack of sports on terrestrial TV. The BBC has recently lost F1 to Sky Sports, another in a long list of sports standard TV stations have lost to the bigger cable channels. If you can afford Sky then great but a lot of people can;t afford to splash and so are missing out on watching great sports for free. Cricket is lost, the majority of football games are lost and as mentioned F1 is lost but and thank goodness for a but, F1 has been partly saved by a new venture called F1 in Pubs in which Meds attended the Australian race in Birmingham. So join Meds and Kell as they have a chat about what they miss and what could be done for sports on TV.
For more information of F1 in pubs click the link above it follow them on twitter @F1inPubs or on Facebook just search for F1 in Pubs
Head to http://waffleon.podbean.com/2012/03/31/mini-waffle-on-about-lack-of-sports-on-terrestrial-tv/ (http://waffleon.podbean.com/2012/03/31/mini-waffle-on-about-lack-of-sports-on-terrestrial-tv/) :D
Meanwhile, in the US, we get competitive cupcake wars, tattooing battles, etc. It's actually frightening to see the similarity in mid-game chatter between the reality shows and the "real" sports...
On the positive side, though: Full Metal Jousting!!!
Waffle On about Dad's Army
A classic TV series from the late 60's made in the UK. Dad's Army tells the wonderful tale of the Home Guard during World War 2, full of warmth, humour and good old British stiff upper lip nonsense. Meds and Kell waffle on about how much they enjoy this classic tv series which ran for nine series and featured the talents of Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Clive Dunn, Arthur Ridley, John Laurie, James Beck, Bill Pertwee, Frank Williams and Ian Lavender.

Fun show about Dad's Army. I've been to the Theford area where some of the filming was done. Nice area.
Yeah I want to go there. I'll be driving through it in September so I'm planning on stopping and having a march around :)
The wife and youngest will be in the area for sure in October for a couple of weeks. Not sure if I'll be tagging along on this trip or not. If you get near Kings Lynn, that is where the small shop was that I found the police box salt and pepper set.
Hi Meds, I just linsted to the waffelon podast on dads army this weekend. when I first downloaded it I thought you were going to talk about your own fathers military service. but then i relied that it was about a TV show after all this is what your podcast is about right. I have never heard it this series until now and it has got me interested. Maybe I will be able to see it one day, get podcast guys. I did love hearding the one audio clip you had, that was very funny.
LOl Well I hope you get to find it, there are quite a few episodes on you tube so head over there and have a look about :) Glad you enjoyed the show :)
Heard the episode at the weekend. Another great one. I did not realise how much of a History buff Kel is. will try to get to this year's Treks weekend and have a chat with him!
How about a Life on Mars or Ashes to Ashes cast? Gene Hunt was superb!
Yeah Kell knows his history, bar TV history is the next big thing we both debate about at work. I'm more into the Roman history, Kell is more the modern(ish) expert lol.
We have started to organise the next podcasters meet up. So far me, kell, Dangelus, Ori-Studfarm (i think), Dan Hughes from midmo club and darren Wright (scuttercast) are confirmed for a November catch up in.........Birmingham ;)

Waffle On about The Odd Couple.
On this edition we talk about one of Kells favorite film The Odd Couple. Written by Neil Simon, directed by Gene Saks, and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau , It is the story of two divorced men – Felix Ungar, the neurotic neatfreak, and Oscar Madison, the fun-loving slob – who decide to live together, even though their personalities clash. Do you have any dates yet?
Hi Meds, I listened to waffle on podcast on the odd couple last night on my mp3. great podcat guys. I have seen the original movie once when I was in high school, but I more familiar with the TV series. I remember watching re runs on it when I was growing up in the 70's. i still remember sometimes when eht episode ended Felix Unger would talk about how he misses his wife. I have never seen the remake or a sequel of the Odd Couple nor have I heard of a female version of the play. When I think of the odd couple I still think of Tony Randall and Jack Klugman.
Date for podcaster meet up is on 17th November in Brum details to follow.
Cheers Red, it was a great podcast to do and very much a waffle on episode lol. I've seen a few of the tv series but I think the film really out weighs. The sequel is pretty good, worth a viewing :)
I've never seen any of them.
I remember the series being around but I don't think we ever watched an episode.
Waffle On about Men Behaving Badly
On this episode Meds and Kell talk about the 90's British comedy Men Behaving Badly. Written by Simon Nye and starring Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey the series lasted for six series and a total of 42 episodes and was one of the first in a long line of 90's lad culture to hit the media over here in the UK.

I didn't know the US show was Brit knock-off. The US show was good, but tanked in the 2nd season when a few cast members walked.
It seems most television these days is a British knock-off. :) Can't wait to listen, Meds. I'm behind on my fav podcasts, but I'll be catching up soon.
Aweseom let us know what you think Jen. Bad Taste coming soon, very much looking forward to recording that one.

Much love from Portland OR.
Time Bandits is on the list mate :) we'll have a pint for you at the meet up.
Waffle On About Bad Taste
On this episode Meds & Kell talk in a excited manner about Peter Jacksons first commercial film Bad Taste. Made over four years mainly during the weekends this is a fantastic example of Peter Jacksons love for film and getting the job done. Yes its quirky, cheap and seriosuly over the top but the Waffle On Lads love it.
At the end of the show there is a Batman Rises review which does contain some spoilers so stop the podcast after the Bad Taste credits theme after the promos.

Waffle On about The Invaders
On this episode of Waffle On we chat about one of Kells favorite shows The Invaders. Starring Roy Thinnes and produced by Quinn Martin this show tells the tale of architect David Vincent a man desperate to convince the world that aliens have invaded the planet Earth.

Hi meds and kelly, I have just listen to the wallfen on podcast on the Invaders. Great podcast guys. this is one of my favorite shows from the "60s. I first saw the series on late night TV one summer more than 20 years ago. I haven't seen it much since. I think every episode was great, it was always some where different or new that he was tracking the aliens at. It seems like Vincent had a lot of money at his disposal to travel around the country to find evidence of the invaders. I do remember thur seeing one episode where it shows him at work as an architect. I thought that was a good point about how he got around and was able to take time off from work in order to pursue the invaders, he must have been self employed. I think that this is the only sci-fi series Quinn Martin ever produce, I do not think I have heard of any others.
Thanks for the comment mate. :) The Invaders seems to be almost forgotten which is a shame.
Great podcast, Meds and Kell! I remember watching it when I was a small boy (Yes, I'm old! :) ). Watching the aliens turn red and disappear, scared me when I was little. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
Thats fantastic mate, we really hoped that a listener who watched it when a kid would enjoy the podcast. I think we say that on the show. I shall let Kell know.
Looking forward to this, I remember watching this show but the details have faded over time. :)
New Waffle On Logo.
I had a idea that i wanted the new logo to have a homage to the early 80's Doctor Who title card but with a bit oomph to it. Well I handed that idea over to our very own Jen Rhodes who designed this beauty. I love it and i love the 1920's vibe. :)
Very nice. It's amazing how difficult it is to design these things, believe me I've tried! :)
I thought you guys were doing a Tron podcast. Looks very Tron to me.
Comes in different colours i should point out, we have a red one as well.
Hot pink? ;)
For you Dan, yes.
That's a nifty, clean logo. I really like it. :metallica:
Waffle On about Bad News and Spinal Tap
Two rock bands, both from the UK (kind of) and both with very metal attitudes. Yes its Bad News from TV's the comic strip and Americas cult classic film This is Spinal Tap coming together in one big old podcast. Both Meds and Kell are big fans of the Comic Strip and also the writing talents of the creators of Spinal Tap and they decided to not just waffle on about one of the films but both of them. The show is packed with musical numbers from both bands and of course your usual waffle on banter.
Just a note a few of the numbers do contain a bit of language and the odd innuendo (and why not we say) so head to http://waffleon.podbean.com/2012/09/15/waffle-on-about-bad-news-spinal-tap/ (http://waffleon.podbean.com/2012/09/15/waffle-on-about-bad-news-spinal-tap/)[/url] :D

Waffle On about The Evil Dead Trilogy
Happy Halloween 2012 to you all and what better way to celebrate than to listen to us two deadites talking about three classic horror films. Does Cracker take place in Manchester?
Yes set and filmed in South Manchester.
Now you all know mine and kells views on 3D and of course Avatar (though kell likes Avatar i didnt) Imagine my reaction at seeing this picture on our Facebook page. Done by Mr Ian Blundell who is a great artist and a mate from Liverpool (and one of the podcasters on Scuttercast and one of the people who come to the meet ups)
I just finished watching the 2 Cracker 'movies' (released after the regular seasons ended w/season 3). This is such great show. How can I even look at Hagrid again and not think of Fitz?! Or see Harry's mom and not think of 'Pan-handle'?! :) The US version was not nearly as good.
I know, I loved that series and when you look at all the big actors in it. I'll never forget the killing of Chris Ecclestons character.

Waffle On about Nigel Kneal the creator of Quatermass.
Ahoy and welcome to the good ship Waffle On. This month we chat away about the wonderful and much missed writer Nigel Kneale who is most well known for creating Quatermass. He was a pioneer of British science fiction and often over shadowed by the likes of Doctor Who and Twilight Zone. Submitted for your consideration..
I listened to the latest last week and I think you're spot on in the discussions on the impact of Facebook and the death of forums. I agree that the community feel works a lot better with a setup like this and somewhat less well in the social media setting. Just my opinion, of course, but as it agrees with yours it must be correct :D
I have to listen yet, but I do prefer the forums here for discussions. I know the old guard still reads them. :)
:) yeah it was a bit of rant podcast but I miss this forum and am making more of a effort to post on here rather than facebook.

My mother-in-law loved the books. I started watching the first episode on Netflix recently, because they popped up in the recommendation category. I guess Netflix noticed that I've been watching The Bletchley Circle and Call the Midwife and figured I was an Anglophile. ;)
Can't wait to listen to your episode!
