adro, glad to see u finally joined us... start a new topic in rolecall formally introducing yourself...
yo, i did a formal greeting, check it out.
I grew up with Star Trek and Star Wars as a kid and as I have gotten older I have gravitated towrads Star Trek. I love playing PC Games and I am in my mid 30s. I have a wife and kids and I enjoy Rico's podcast as well as others dealing with technology and science fiction. I am happy to be here, and finally I live in the Las Vegas, Nevada area but I am originally born and raised in the town starfleet academy will exist. Thx
Welcome to the fun!
Hi everyone. I am actually recently discovering Star Trek. I had seen a few of the movies, but lately have really got into watching the shows on DVD. Really glad I found these forums and the podcast.
Welcome lookout! Glad to have you here.
Hi I'm Trekkygeek, (or Tim to the non believers). I am 34 years old and I live with my long term girlfriend and our twins who turn one year old mid October. We live in Shoreham by sea which is about six miles west of Brighton on the South coast of England. I am a big Trek fan and of all things Sci-Fi in general. My first memories of Star Trek were of watching it upstairs in my parents bedroom and being quite frightened by the face that appears on the last few frames on the end credits (can anyone tell me what episode thats from?) it freaked me as a youngster of aboutsix or seven. Other favourite shows include Quantum Leap, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Smallville and The Shield which isn't Sci-Fi but it is a damn fine show. Favourite films include Superman The Movie, The Wrath of Khan,Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Close Encounters and Gladiator.
I found Ricos Podcast on itunes and downloaded the lot straight away, its nice to also find a forum where fellow geeks can discuss all things Sci-Fi and generally put the World to rights.
Good to be here and I will hopefully have dealings with many of you. Live long and prosper. Trekkygeek
Welcome Trekkygeek!
Thanks Comix. You too mate.

Hello there, my name is Nathan. I love star trek, and know a lot about it. I have seen every episode of every star trek, but TOS. I am planning on watching it this year. I enjoy pretty much any sci-fi show. I like Firefly, StarGate, my favorite Star Trek is Voyager! :)
YAY.. another Voyager lover.. Welcome to our little group. Sounds like you'll fit right in.
Welcome Nathan to our little home in Cyberspace. Hang in there - definitely more Voyager Podcasts to come this year!
P.S. I just notcied you are another Moyer. Glad to see another friend of the show with us! ;D
Well my dad, who is also on the forum, turned on the tv in our front room when I was little and watched Star Trek TNG almost everyday. It was sort of burned into my brain... but hey, Star Trek is pretty much the best TV show/idea ever.
Quick note-
Introducing Flinters! The all new member from the Seattle area, land of rain, lattes, and Microsquish. This new user comes complete with an updated interface, mobility improvements, and a command of the English langwage- err, langwidge- um, wordy thingy.
I'm also known as Dan, a hardware / software technician at Microsoft that jumps in when Microsoft employees break their computer and don't know what to do next. With exposure to all the new tech that is in development for release years down the road, it's pretty much a glimpse into the future right there on campus. Some of the stuff is pretty slick- but I have my doubts about MS Transporter 2.0 beta. I really think rematerializing with two heads might be a bug in the system.
Outside of that, I have a web comic online with just under 1000 strips to date and entirely too much silliness at http://www.roomies-comic.com/cgi-bin/roomies.cgi
Welcome Flinters! I only live 100 miles away from you! Yay for the Northwest!
Welcome to the forum, I look forward to chatting with you!
Peace and Long Life..... :vulcan
Welcome Flinters. I'll be sure to check out your comics soon. Hope you enjoy the forums!

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums but have been listening to Treks in SciFi for about 8 months. Love the show, love Star Trek and look forward to some interesting discussions.
I live in Phoenix with my beautiful wife and work a day job at a university, but on the side my wife and I own a small video productions company. We do photography and videography. Have a website (www.celticcrosspv.com) in case anyone wants to check it out and give some feedback or pointers on how to make the site better. Take care---Al

Oh no! Someone is already using an EVIL MR SPOCK avatar. :shootgun:
I am a science fiction fan not a Trekker or Trekkie. I started reading SF in '61. When I watched the original broadcast of Star Trek I thought that was one of the funniest looking spaceships I had ever seen. Funny how things can grow on you.
I started high school in '66 and I was one of those kids that got nicknamed

Greetings other Earth-lings....and Rico (Just kidding :P)
I have been hanging around the forum here after Rico suggested I join after he interviewed me on the show. It is a great group of people here, really welcoming and talkative in the nicest possible way.
About me, in a line: I am a 20 year old published author, film producer, screen writer and generally all-around workaholic! Among other things I enjoy interviewing people for my blog, spending time with my family and dog...and well just living life. I am always around on the PC so feel free to IM sometime and say hi.
My site is www.sebrt.com and on a very exciting note I will be appearing on the show with Rico next week for a duo commentary! Back by popular demand...it was popular wasn't it ? :) --I will just keep telling myself that!
oh...and did I mention I am a Star Trek fan...:P
:eekout
I enjoyed the last interview with you Sebastian! Welcome and I look forward to your contributions here and also on the upcoming podcast. :thumbsup

HI,
I am Liz and I love Star Trek and all Sci Fi. I live in East Tennessee. I too grew up on Star Trek and now have the pleasure of owning all of them so I can watch any time I want too. I am looking forward to talking with other people and making friends. I would like to know if you guys read, what you read and perhaps you can make some suggestions for me. Nice to meet you guys! :r2d2line

:) Hi, finally posting after almost a year. I'm Brian,a 45 y.o. lifelong Trek fan in Oakland, CA (aka Camp Khitomer, Earth ). My first memory of the show was during the original series run, seeing Apollo's hand reaching out and grabbing the Enterprise in "WMFA" ("Who Mourns For Adonis?"). My parents, then as now, were oblivious to the show, but I kept watching, going to local conventions, making the models from the cruddy AMT kits (how come those model Enterprise engine nacelles were so hard to glue in place?) :confused. My favorite was the communicator-phaser-tricorder set, even though they were not full-scale replicas.
And here I am, now. How did we get from then to now? Wow! I love all the podcasts! They make my day as a systems tech go faster :lamo My gf Charlene and I watch the remastered TOS shows regularly. My dreams are now realized! I always wanted to know what the show would look like with upgraded effects. So, that's my intro, hope to post more in the future.
LLAP
Welcome Brian, it is good to hear from you . I hope you really enjoy the forums as much as we do.

im a closet trekkie (ie i have the desire but not the accoutriments) well. . . there is a voyager photo in the front room signed by robert mcneil (aka tom paris) im also accumulating a collection of fantasy sci fi books, my own personal library (shanarra, sword of truth, star wars, wheel of time, harry potter, dragon riders of pern, lost regement, to name a few)major book worm.
have listened to a majority of the podcasts. i especially like to listen to the full episode commentaries during work .its like listening to an old radio show. or running star wars in the background when you do housework, i mean i don't need to see them anymore . . .to visualize . . . oh heck, you alll should know what i mean.
favorite online comics . . GIRL GENIUS-ORDER OF THE STICK - SLUGGY FREELANCE
and as for the screenname it involves an overly intelligent rodent, a rather dull pakistani sword, and a pair of barbeque tongs

Hello Rico, found your podcast on itunes. Discovered I liked it, and subscribed to it. I listen to you along with other science fiction related podcasts while at work. I enjoy the SF themed 'fan songs'. And that one you have of Jen and her friend singing the theme song from 'Enterprise' cracks me up everytime. We need an encore :biggrin! I find your relaxed and easy going style refreshing. It is liking sitting in a living room and chatting with a friend about your favorite topics. And it seems you attract people much like yourself, unassuming, friendly 'fellow geeks'. The people I have met so far in the forums are very nice. And this 'gift', this forum you have provided, gives geeks like myself an opportunity to converse with, and meet others like ourselves. Thank you.
Omra aka Stephen from Arizona
Omra is a new RPG member as well. Welcome!
I can't believe you want to hear that song again! He's played it three times... surely you are tired of it by now. :D
Hey everyone! I'm a fairly new listener of the show (only been listening for a few weeks) but I'm really liking it. Way to go!!
A little about me...I'll be 30 in a couple months, married for almost 9 years, we have a daughter that's three and we're expecting our second child in September (yay!!!).
By day I'm a graphic designer for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and by night I'm an aspiring comic book artist. You can check out some of my work at http://geekywhiteguy.livejournal.com/
As interests go...I'm big into comics, animation, fantasy movies, Star Wars and of course Star Trek. My favorite Star Trek has always been TNG...but I've been watching a lot of DS9 lately. I forgot how good that show really was.
And as for podcasts...I'm a long time listener (and poster @ the forums) to the Comic Geek Speak podcast. I've also been listening to other great shows like Half Hour Wasted, Skeptoid, Mysterious Universe (how's that for a contradiction), iFan Boy , Quiet, Panelologists at Work! and Photoshopusertv. (yeah...my job is boring...so i listen to a lot of podcasts during the day)
Anyway...that's probably too much info already. But I'm happy to be aboard and am looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Later skater

Welcome aboard, Eric! So, what type of comics and animation are you into?
I've always been a main stay superhero comic guy (mostly a marvel zombie) but in the last several years I've gotten into more stuff. Now I really like anything that has a good story and good art.
And as animation goes...most of the stuff out today is just plain bad. But the old school classics like Fire & Ice, G.I. Joe, He-Man, Thundar...that stuff is so great!
I started reading the new leob supergirl comics, (I always tend to buy number 1's, have done for years now) and i thought the story was good, drawing excellent and i decided to buy number 2. Bish bosh i'm now on issue 27. Plus is just got hold of 100 back issue superman comics for £30 inc post and packaging. One of the best comics i read recently was criminal. they only did 5 issues and i managed to get hold of a signed number 1. New hulk is looking good, though have not bought that yet.
Hello all, long-time first-time (long time listener, first time poster). Great podcast Rico! I have a very long commute a few days a week from my home in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia to my office in Newark, USA (NJ!).
I am old enough to remember season 3 of ST:TOS as it first ran - although I was a little tot of 6 watching on a black and white Zenith.
I am an avid sci-fi fan, more into the hard sci-fi end of the spectrum - Alaister Reynolds, Vernor Vinge, etc. Still grieving for Sir Arthur, and for Jack Williamson, but consoling myself in Iain M. Banks.
Welcome! I LOVE HEAT MISER...
what a great little flick.
Hope you have a great time here!

I'm a big Star Trek fan, but was only bit by the bug about 8 years ago, fell in love with TNG and the rest is history. I was turned on to TreksinSf by a friend and I've been lurking around the site for a while, catching up on Podcasts. I've never been one to follow podcasts, but Rico does a great job! In fact, I had the chance to chat with him on Skype yesterday! Stellar stuff you're doing here! Keep on Trekkin'!
Nice to see you here Christian. And it was cool chatting with you yesterday. I will be releasing a special New Year's Day podcast tomorrow of Christian and I talking about his Trek fan film work. I suggest everyone check out their stuff at the link above.

Hi, all!
I came across the podcast a few months ago when I first started downloading podcasts, and listened to them on my own for a while before sharing them with a "friend", who then became a fan and joined the forum!
I'd always enjoyed Star Trek and some other scifi, but growing up with five channels, didn't have much opportunity to immerse myself in the genre. Of course ST:TOS was rerun a *lot*, and now that we have satellite/DVR, have caught up significantly in the other series (though we haven't made it through DS9 yet).
Looking forward to playing around on this site!

Hello everybody! My name is Dev and I just recently joined the forum RPG as Ensign Darius Shane, he of the classified past and quirking eyebrow. Ever notice how many first-characters have a dark past and a quirking eyebrow? I keep telling myself that one of these days I'm going to make an RPG character with a normal childhood and a family who are all still happy and idyllic, but who have no sense of humor at all. You know, just for the sheer startling change of it. Oddly enough, it never seems to happen...
Welcome to the forums and RPG... look forward to writing with you.

I feel safer already...although I'm not sure about this ones attitude. Another patient for Margon?
Oh yes, I have a feeling the good counselor's going to be rather busy. But at least the attitude is starting to smooth over. Darius is just feeling out his new surroundings. ^_^
Welcome to the forum, Dev. Great RPG posts, by the way. :thumbsup
Hi, I'm new to the forums. Actually, this is my first forum period. I'm a long time Trek fan, and I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Right now I'm watching the Enterprise marathon on Sci-Fi. :archer
Hello and welcome!
Sounds like you're well qualified to join us :) ;)
Welcome to the forums!
nice to have you here!
Hello, my name is Jaames. I'm a life long Science Fiction and Video Game fan. I grew up watching re-runs of Star Trek: TOS, the original Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, and V, and my love for the genre has only grown. I discovered the fabulous Anomaly Podcast about a month ago, and Jen and Angela have led me here to Treks in Sci-Fi. I am currently watching the 4th season of Enterprise as I did not have a DVR when it first aired and subsequently missed all of it. I honestly have to admit that I think the 3rd season was one of the better seasons of any Star Trek I've ever seen, and I have seen (and love) all of them (except Enterprise, until now). I loved the new BSG, but was not blown away by the finale (are we ever really blown away by finale's?) And I have been playing Oblivion for 90+ hours and still have not started the main quest. So there you have it! Me in a digital nutshell.
Welcome Jaames! Great to have you around!
Welcome Dataskatt and Jaames to our Geeky family... sounds like you guys will fit right in.
Jaames :cheers another V fan.. I loved that series back in the 80's
Growing up, whenever I had a sick day from school, I would either watch all 3 Star Wars or V and V: The Final Battle. I didn't even know that V was actually a series on TV for a year after those miniseries aired until I bought the DVD's when my VHS tapes had worn out, that was a pleasant surprise 20 years after I'd fallen in love with it as a kid. :thumbsup
Welcome aboard Dataskatt and Jaames! :cheers
Welcome to you too Jaames.
Welcome to the both of you!
Welcome dataskatt and Jaames you'll have lots of fun here.
Wow, a constant line of new members!
Things are warming up round here :)
Hello all!

Welcome to the forum, Alice! :)
Hello everyone, Jason here. I've been a sci-fi/fantasy fan all my life, especially Star Trek, and recently while looking for info on the new Trek movie I ran into Rico's podcasts. I like how he has a more positive take on reviewing shows and movies rather then just bashing say... Voyager or Enterprise. Looking forward to hearing more podcasts and hopefully due to the success of the recent movie, seeing and reading more Trek.
Welcome Alice! Welcome Pigboy...oops I mean "DontcallmePigboy". Wow! What a name. :D I like it. It made me laugh the first time I saw you online. ;)
Hi...can I call you "Don't"?
Welcome to the forums Jason.
Hello Jason!
Hey, what's wrong about bashing Voyager and Enterprise? ;)
No, you're right, I think the positive approach and being inclusive is the strength of this podcast and this mindset suits a Trek fan very well. It's this reason I consider this the best Trek and SciFi podcast and hang out here. I hope you enjoy this creative and friendly community as much as I do! :)

I don't understand why folks go through so much effort and energy to hate something so much. It's one thing I dislike about the Star Trek, Star Wars and Geek fandom.

I think that it's natural. Anything that inspires passion will inevitable inspire hatred in some because they have an emotional attachment to it. Emotions aren't always a good thing. The Vulcan's aren't all wrong.
^ what he said! :)
You'll find your share of fanatics (Latin fanaticus: inspired by a deity) in every group (politic, religion, sport, interests, ...). Very sad, "hate leads to suffering".

Nice to meet you!
Greetings from Sioux City IA. I just wanted to re-introduce myself.
Please accept my apologies. I had originally signed on several months ago but haven't had a chance to come back until recently. I just thought it would be polite to say hello again.
I've been trying to catch up on the older TreksinScifi podcasts and am currently into '06 and '07. Rico's show has helped me re-awaken my inner trekker.
I'm a fan of all the Treks along with BSG (old and new) and the Star Wars movies. I love comics and sci fi books as well. It's great to meet all of you.
Hello again and welcome to the fun.
Welcome back. Stick around this time ;)

Hi Drew. From one newbie to another-Welcome!
Lurkers always welcome. Hello.
Hey Everybody!
I am certainly a STAR TREK fan and have been since watching ST:TOS from my daddy's lap as a kid.
I have two grown children that watched ST:TNG with me and a two year old that sings the theme to ST:ENT - that's enough to make me like the song.
love listening to the pod cast and am looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the forum.
Glad to be here!

Hi! I have been listening to the podcast for a while now & finally decided to jump into the forums.
I am a big Star Wars/Star Trek/BSG(TOS)/Buck Rogers heck any sci-fi fan. Since this is primarily a Star Trek Site I should probably go with my views & history on that so everyone knows where I am coming from when I post.
TOS: I grew up watching this on reruns. Where ever my dad was stationed, some channel ran it. I think that was one of the earliest shows I ever watched. (OK the earliest I can remember were the cartoons Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer & Banana Splits at my grandparents place, I am pretty sure I was still in diapers :taz.) I loved the series & eventually my dad let me play as few games of Star Fleet Battles with his friends. I died horribly but had fun.
TAS: I saw this on reruns on Nickelodeon & loved it as part of TOS (in my mind).
The Movies: All in all I liked the TOS cast movies. When I saw a copy of TMP I was wondering what weird bumpy headed aliens :klingon had captured some Klingon ships, then I found out those were SUPOSED to be Klingons. :shocked The Klingons in the movies always reminded me of Space thugs in run down space ships.
TNG: I am in the target audience for this to be my "Favorite" or introductory series, but it isn't. I watched most of the series & enjoyed many episodes. Data was one of my favorite characters. Although she was a much older woman I thought Beverly was HAWT. I can picture a 12 year old me humming "Wesley's mom has got it going on" :love (for those who know the Stacey's mom song). I liked Picard as a captain. Not my favorite captain (Sisko) but one I liked.
A few of my biggest grips; The Klingons & the Romulans. The Klingons went from being Sun-Tsu, Von Clausewitz, Machiavelli reading Totalitarians to Bumpy headed Biker Space Vikings pretending to be Samurai. :wacko. The Romulans from being emotional, honorable enemies who looked like Vulcans (Gasp!) to sneaky back stabbing grim people who couldn't smile unless they tricked a puppy into stepping on a mine. >:( Oh & they were given ominous Neanderthal brow ridges. And to further my heresy, I don't care for the Borg.
DS9: I really liked the early seasons that I could watch. I missed most of the later episodes though. I thought the Cardassians were what the Klingons should have been. I suppose in my mind I could pretend that the Cardassians were the TOS Klingons occupying Bajor :ohbaby I thought the show was really neat & I liked allot of the characters.
Voyager: I tried to watch the series but gave up. So much potential & we got a this & a ship that could catch the sniffles. I liked the Doctor. From what I remember Tuvok was pretty cool too.
Enterprise: From the few episodes I saw, I love this series too. I would put this behind TOS & TAS in my fav list.
The New Movie: After seeing do many fond childhood memories molested by Hollywood I was nervous. I decided to keep cautiously optimistic & avoided spoilers. I did read the prequel comics. I Thought the movie was great! I enjoyed it. My TOS universe still exists but I have this new one to watch now! :cheers
Well I am running late & need to run off now, So here is Hi & a bit about myself (Star Trek fanwise.)
Welcome to our neck of the woods. Sounds like we enjoy the same things.

Hey everyone this is Jeff from Clinton, Utah, and I'm happy to be a forum member and look forward to a great 2010. I've listened to the podcast since 1996 and I love it! Keep up the great work everyone!
Nice to have you with us Obi-Wan. But, I think you meant 2006. I started the podcast in late 2005.
Yeah that's what I meant. Sorry, it's early for me! Anyway, a little more about myself. My love of Sci-Fi goes back to when I was 5 years old and The Empire Strikes Back was at our local drive-in. Ever since then, I was hooked. Some of my fav shows are: TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, The Clone Wars, and The Legend of the Seeker among others. Movies: Besides the obvious Star Wars and Star Trek, are The Lord of the Rings, many of the superhero films (Spider-Man, Batman Begins, Iron Man, X-Men, Daredevil), TRON, The Rocketeer, Willow, and even though they're not sci-fi, many Bill Murray films: Groundhog Day, The Man who Knew Too Little, What About Bob?, and of course, Ghostbusters (which is sci-fi!). A friend of mine found the show after I suggested finding some sci-fi or movie podcasts, and happily enough he found this one. I have three kids ages 11, 9, and 5, I've been married for almost 13 years, and as of yet I still haven't seen Avatar. Though I plan to. Anyway, talk to you guys later. :luke
welcome!
Thanks Rick, by the way I downloaded your Merry Trekmas album a couple of weeks before Christmas and LOVED it. My favorite song was The 12 Days of Starfleet, whenever I hear those Pakleds it makes me laugh, I love it! My kids got a real kick out of Klaxon Bells, and Jean-Luc the bald head Captain. Great fun!
Hey Jeff.. sounds like you'll fit right in here... whoo hooo.. another Willow fan :)

Hey everyone! I'm not new to Treks in Sci Fi, but I am new to the forums. My name is Al, but my "handle" here is Quadshot. I like to tell everyone that name is from the game Modern Warfare 2, cuz I'm that good a shot, but...it's actually because I love the 4 shots of espresso in my Starbucks! :) Anyway, I love Star Trek, have listened to Rico for all but the first year of the show, and have been addicted since. My first memory of Star Trek is of TOS, when we got our first color TV set! It was the show that was on while my dad was hooking up the old rabbit ears. I've been a fan since. I'm also a huge science fiction fan, and my wife and I are HUGE Lost fans. Sniff, sniff, but it's over now...Take care, "see" you all soon....
Welcome to the Forum QuadShot.

I love everything Sci-fi and Fantasy, especially the Trek universe, thanks for providing a great environment
with so many great characters. I look forward to chating with all of you.

Welcome aboard!
Welcome to the Forum Mr. Bilbo. I take it from your screen name you're a Lord of the Rings fan.
Hi there, signed up just to say thanks really. Loved sci-fi stuff forever and find it a great escape when I want to relax for a while. My first post was over on another thread on Podcast # 278 - "The Time Tunnel" specifically thanking the guest host for the prize.
Hope that didn't break forum etiquette, the web can be an unforgiving place!
P.S. The spell checker in the forum doesn't like "sci-fi" by default :)

Hi! I'm Aimee from St. Paul, Minnesota.
Just saying a quick hello before diving into the forum. Glad to have found the Treks in Sci-fi forum through Rico's podcast, been needing a little sci-fi-geek companionship.
Mostly a TNG girl, but TOS is in close second. Doctor Who fan, Star Wars, Battlestar, Comics (Blue Beetle lives!) and anything else sci-fi or fantasy is fair game with me.
I hope to get to know some of you better.
Also, shout out to Rico. He's the best.
Thanks!
Welcome Aimee. Glad to have you with us and thanks for the nice 'shout out.' :)
Holy superstar, Batman!
Sorry, but I just had a ligament gasp, hands to the face moment. I've been listening to the podcast for ages and never thought Rico would reply to my post. Thank you so much. I won't gush, but your podcasts have meant a lot to me.

He's really very warm and cuddley, kind of like a 6'2" Care Bear or something... ;)
Welcome to the party! Rico and I like having new TOS fans.
Thanks!
Are we talking, 6'2 Wookie-type-teddy-bear?
Yep, gotta the TOS gang. The triangle is one my favorite shapes anyway without Kirk, Spock and McCoy on each side. Maybe I'm biased. As a triplet I believe that the best things come in threes. And believe it or not, the three of us kind of match up with the three of them. I'm most like McCoy.
Favorite episode? Devil in the Dark. No. The City on the Edge of Forever. Hard to decide . . .
Thanks again for the welcome, how long have you been on the forum?

August 02, 2006, 10:30:33 AM, but I was on line friends with Rico from another forum dating back to 2002. "City" is great but there is so much TOS to love.

Hiya Aimee.. sorry for the late hello.. was out of town when you joined.. Welcome to our little cyber family.. sounds like you'll fit right in here.
Hi! I'm Michael from Chicago, IL.
I am a TNG fan and have had an awakening in the last year and finally fully embraced my geeky side. Went to my first Comic-Con in 16 years, am signed up for the Trek convention also to be in Chicago in October. Brent Spiner is my son's favorite character from TNG and quickly became mine after meeting him last month at the Rosement Comic-Con. Rico, sorry I missed you, I have been listening to all of your episodes from the last year and finally am one episode away from being with the current episodes. I then look forward to sending my own submission to be included in your podcast. I listen to it in my third grade classroom prior to my kids arriving, and then great them with a variety of trek songs. They are all acting ensigns working towards promotion to fourth grade and think that Trek is cool :-). Glad to finally make my way home to Treks in Sci-FI.
Really glad you have joined us - and you are nearby too! Not sure I'll be at the con in October but might be. Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy the great group on the forum here.
Welcome!!!!
Glad you could join us Geeks... Welcome
Welcome to the boards and not all of us are geeks. Well maybe.... :)
so cool. WELCOME Starfleet Academy instructor!
Welcome to the Forum!
Thanks everyone!! I have a huge grin hearing from you all. Yes Rico, I am near Rockford twice a month when I visit my father in Poplar Grove. We repair antique clocks from the 1700's to the early 1900's together and then sell them at shows and on E-bay. Provides a nice extra income; and who could use a little extra of that these days. I'm working to take my son to the Trek convention in October, it would be both of our first non-comic con convention. Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!!
You repair clocks? I have this mantle clock that was a kit I built several years back. It's really nice but the pendulum seems to stick sometimes. Not quite sure why. Maybe I should get it to you to have a look.
I'd be more than happy to take a look at it, if you could send me a pic of the clock and movement. I could let you know if I can do something with it or not, the newer the clock is the less you can do on it yourself. They are kind of like today's cars in that regard :-). Id be more than happy to help in nay way I can. Ill send you an e-mail.
Thanks. Clock is at home in Michigan, but I'll get you a pic of it sometime.
Welcome to the forums Michael. Have fun :D
Hey Guys! This is Kent (Adama on the forum). Thanks for putting my pic up on the site! I've been a member on the forums for quite some time but never have chimed in on anything. Just a little background on myself, I have really gotten into prop collecting these last couple of years. It started out with the Battlestar auctions held by PropWorx and now has grown into a real hobby. I now own original Star Trek, BSG, Stargate, and Caprica items as well as some real space shuttle pieces. Thank God for my "Man Cave / Office" or my wife would've probably kicked me out by now. Really enjoy the show and look forward to meeting all you guys!
Greetings and welcome to the ranks of the vocal ones!

I'm pretty new to forums so it may take me a while to get used to how things work but I am really looking forward to getting involved in some of your discussions.
I am also one of the few people who loved the film Soloman Kane. I hope this does not alienate me to much on my first day.

Hi all to the form. I have just registered for the treksinscifi form. I have been a avid listener to the treksin scifi podcast since the fall of 2007. The treksinscifi podcast is one of my favorites ever since I got into podcast listening. I found Rico via iTunes when I downloaded iTunes player after I got a DSL connection for my internet. I have enjoyed the star trek series over the last 35 years when I saw my first episode of the Original series when it ran in syndication on local TV.
Welcome fellow TOS brother!
Welcome to our little corner of the internet!

Wellcome Mexican Viking. I am new here myself. I have loved sf since the age of 8 when I saw the movie the time machine on TV and asking my dad what sf was. I have been a trek fan since I first saw my first episode in when I was 10 or 11. I hope to have a lot fun here too. I look forward to being a part of this grand community too. take care
Welcome Greg. Join the influx of new blood... ;)
Hi! A long time listener to the podcast. I am in my 40's and been watching Trek and sci-fi all my life; I was lucky to have a mother who was a big fan of the genre. My favourite Trek is DS9.
I like to travel in my spare time with the States being my favourite holiday destination.
Welcome to the forum fun!
Glad you could join us Bevs

Hello Greg and Bevs' Welcome to the forum. Have fun.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you aboard.
Hello, Turtlesrock, welcome.
Greetings (better late than never).
Hello Tirtlesrock, (great name) have fun.
Hello everyone,
I joined the forum about a year ago but have had difficulties posting. I just heard that Rico is heading back to Michigan, congratulations. I moved to Cary, Illinois a few months before Rico moved to Rockford and was encouraged by hearing that he was going through some of the same things I was. Moving to a new area is never easy, fortunartely I found TISF and have come to consider you all my surrogate friends. I grew up on TOS but love all the incarnations of trek and constantly watch sci-fi and horror films. Thanks for all you guys do and I hope to hear from you all soon.
P.S.
Is anyone going to C2E2?
Hiya Bilbo (love the name), glad you came back out of hiding... look forward to chatting with you more.
I'm with Kenny, we're glad you're giving it another go. And I certainly wouldn't mind get to know you here on the forum.
Welcome, Bilbo!!! Don't you have a new movie coming out?
Thanks for the warm welcome, It's odd, I feel like I know you guys just from the podcast. Thanks for all your hard work :cylon
Bilbo, great to see you again!
Hi, just a quick intro, I'm Stuart & I reside in Bristol, UK. I'm a tad behind with the podcast at present, 300 or so episodes. No one in my family is into Sci-fi/fantasy and I can't remember what got me Trek, but reading was my early start in to science fiction, both parents maintain the fact I was reading before I walked. I don't read as much as I used to, mainly because I have an ever growing TV DVD boxset collection. Nice to meet you all.
Welcome to our happy place!
greetings from the land of geekdom! ;D
Hello, Roddenberry, welcome!
Hello All! I'm a newbie here, but have been listening to Rico's podcasts for several months. I've been a huge Trek fan for over 21 years. I've seen all episodes of every Trek series, all movies, read many comics and read most novels. Why I can't still get enough Trek is beyond me. I love Star Wars too, but Star Trek is my fav.
Welcome!!

But the Narns only took on fighting once they were invaded by the Centauri. Surely Ireland... Oh, right... :blush

Welcome, Jstrat96. I just joined recently and I find it to be a really neat forum.
welcome! it is in fact awesome here!
Hey J! Good to meet you!
Welcome! :)
Hey all,
Wanted to introduce myself. I've been a scifi fan since I watched TOS as a kid, then Space 1999 (had several Eagle models cause the darn landing gears kept breaking off). Then from then on it snowballed to Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, ST movies, Lost in Space, Robotech (Macross), almost anything that had to do with space or time travel.
Also read alot of books by Asimov, Clarke, Hawke, Heinlein, Brin, and countless others I can't think of at the moment. Also played in a TNG-universe Play By Email Game for a long time. It was the very first PBEM game centered around a Starfleet Intelligence covert operations unit. It was different from everything else out there at the time and decided to give it a try. Ended up playing for 9 years. Also played in a Stargate SG-1 PBEM until that ended after 5 years. Got married, all PBEM playing came to an end. Ha ha!
I love talking scifi. Sad that I can't keep up with all the sci fi shows. Ashamed that I haven't watched Enterprise yet, nor Firefly, nor Torchwood, nor Supernatural, nor Heroes, nor Dr. Who, nor SGU, or finished The 4400. I didn't even finish watching the last season of The X-Files. Please don't punish me!
Favorite time travel books: Time Wars series
Favorite fantasy books: Dragonlance, Shannara, the Forgotten Realms Dark Elf series
Favorite sci fi books: Uplift Wars, Rama, 2001 Odyssey by Clarke, Asimov robot series, Foundation series
I'm glad to be here with all of you!
welcome :)

A belated welcome! Firefly rocks. Have you had a chance to start the series yet? I'm still trying to get into Dr Who... Meds and my friends Sue and Kasey often hound me about watching that. ;) So no judgment here.

Working at Lego store is very cool. They have some very impressive pieces these days. My wife and I were in one about a month ago, and I was awestruck at some of the larger sets. Welcome aboard.
