Young actress Alessandra Torresani was born in Palo Alto, California.  She studied dancing, singing and acting since she was two years old and is a world class dancer in tap and jazz.  Alessandra is also a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do and achieved this feat by the age of nine.  Currently she is playing Zoe Graystone on the new SyFy series, “Caprica.”  Her other genre credits include parts in:  “Newton”, “Bones”, and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”  I look forward to seeing more of her on “Caprica” and in future genre roles.

DC comic book heroine, Power Girl’s real name is Kara Zor-L, and she is also known as Karen Starr.  She first appeared in “All Star Comics” # 58 back in January of 1976.  Power Girl is the Earth-Two counterpart to Supergirl and is therefore the cousin of Kal-El or Superman.  She also escaped the destruction of Krypton by leaving as an infant in a spaceship bound for Earth in her universe.  Kara has pretty much the same abilities of Supergirl and Superman – such as flight, super strength and so forth.  She is an aggressive and skilled fighter and has made a name for herself among the heroes of the DC universe.

Actress Lauren Graham was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but grew up mainly in Virginia.  She loves horses, horseback riding and wanted to be a jockey, but she was too tall.  Her genre related credits include roles in:  “3rd Rock from the Sun”, “Family Guy”, “Evan Almighty”, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and others.  Lauren is best known for playing mom’s on shows like “Gilmore Girls” and the new series, “Parenthood.”  I look forward to seeing her in more genre work in the future.

Actress Julianna Margulies was born in Spring Valley, New York.  She also lived in various places in Europe growing up and began acting in college.  She is probably best known for playing Nurse Carol Hathaway on E.R. for many seasons, her genre credits include:  “Dinosaur”, “The Mists of Avalon”, “Ghost Ship”, “Snakes on a Plane”, and “The Lost Room.”  I look forward to seeing more of this talented and beautiful lady in further genre roles to come.

Young actress Mia Wasikowska was born in Canberra, Australia.  She studied ballet growing up and has moved on to acting.  Mia is the lead in the new “Alice in Wonderland” film, opening today.  She also was in the genre film “Rogue” about a giant crocodile.  I look forward to seeing this young woman in many more genre roles in the future.

Actor Gerard Butler was born in Paisely, Scotland in the UK.  He studied law in school before turning towards acting.  He has been having a very steady film career – especially in genre roles including parts in:  “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “Tale of the Mummy”, “Dracula 2000″, “Reign of Fire”, “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life”, “Timeline”, “Beowulf & Grendel”, “300″, “Gamer” and others.  Gerard also seems to have a gift for comedy as well as action and has a new film out soon with Jennifer Aniston.  I look forward to seeing more of this versatile star for years to come in many fun films.

Actress Rena Sofer was born in Arcadia, California and also grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Rena has had a long and steady acting career, mainly in TV.  Her genre credits include parts in:  “Herman’s Head”, “Nightmare Street”, “Timecop”, “Cursed”, “The Chronicle”, “Heroes”, “Ghost Whisperer” and others.  I look forward to seeing more of this lovely and talented lady in more genre work to come.

Young actress Amanda Bynes was born in Thousand Oaks, California.  She was already interested in acting and performing at the young age of three and has had quite a successful career so far.  Her genre credits include roles in:  “The Nightmare Room”, “Charlotte’s Web 2: Wilbur’s Great Adventure”, “Robots”, and “Family Guy.”  Amanda has had her own series and does especially well in comedy.  I look forward to seeing her in more genre work for many years to come.
