Talented & beautiful Mary McDonnell was born in Pennsylvania but was raised in New York.  Most of her earlier work involved the theater stage until she landed her big role in “Dances with Wolves.”  But to genre fans she is known now as President Laura Roslin on the new “Battlestar Galactica.”  She has also been seen in:  “Donnie Darko”, “Independence Day”, “The Locket”, and “Touched by an Angel.”  She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and has two children.  I hope we get to see more of Mary in another genre series or film after Galactica ends it’s run.
