Born as Helen Rachel Schlacter in New York, the beautiful Helen Slater has appeared in several genre roles.  Her most famous part was of course as Kara, or “Supergirl” in the 1984 film.  Helen was the first to audition for the part of Supergirl.  She was also in the time travel film “12:01″, voiced some animated characters, and most recently played Lara (or Kal-El’s mother) on the hit series “Smallville.”  She is best friends with another famous Helen, that being Helen Hunt.  And she is not related to Christian Slater at all.  I hope we get to see much more of this beautiful and talented lady on screen soon.
